NO, it would simply give an unfair advantage to some players (or just lazy players). Zenimax should just get the game balanced properly. Yes that will take time and they will get things wrong, but one overall fair/balanced system is better !

Exactly what unfair advantage would it give to any player that chooses to INCREASE the difficulty of their own PvE experience? Everyone here is in agreement that PvP would remain completely unaffected if they added such a feature.

And what if some players just throw the slider down to easy mode, rush though all the content and start farming materials, armour, xp and gold that others have worked harder and longer to get ! That'd be fair... right !

I believe the slider would only increase difficulty, not make it easier. This is to combat the changes ZoS are bringing in making VR much easier.
If its as simple as 'Normal Mode' / 'Nightmare Mode' option... hmm, yeah I may change my vote to yes. But the word slider suggests choice of movement and that could be down as well as up !

I didnt give a damn about d1 story line, d2 story line, and I never watched a single cinematic in D3. Story line is the last thing I look for in a game.
Even in ESO, I haven't read a single dialog box. Blah blah blah, go there and kill some crap or pick up some crap. Ya, I got it. If I wanted to read a book... dang I'd just read a book.
This is very off topic, hahaha.
If you read many of the posts you'd have seen that we're all pretty much in agreement that the game's current difficulty would be the "default" and could not be lowered any further.

Ok, I think your trying to over simplify it. I agree, grouping is a lost art. But it is not due to being afraid of it.

A difficulty slider would just help to get MORE people to play the game, because they'd have a CHOICE of how hard it is. WHY people want to FORCE crap on others is beyond me. And oh, you wouldn't want to see what I would force on humans if I had _my_ way.
lawl that is exactly what people like you demand. "VR content is too difficult, change it for me! ", "I can't kill that boss, I don't know how to block and avoid big red circles on the ground, nerf the boss", "I don't know how to roll out of DK's talons and do not cast spells when I see huge wings on them, nerf DKs" etc. etc. all these threads you can find here, Zos reads it and uses nerf hammer. During my second play through I've been so disappointed that they made it so much easier, no challenge at all. You won't stop moaning till the day they nerf everything, so I voted yes, give us that slider! However it should be the way that once you choose a difficulty mode, you can't change it back or only for 200.000 gold for example, and hopefully you will be separated from other players who've chosen different mode, just like immigrants who don't want to assimilate live in their ghettos.

But a slider gives you CHOICE. You don't have to have easy mode, someone else doesn't have to have hard mode, and no one is shoving anything down anyone's throat.

Yes, I'm all for segregation if it keeps people from arguing and trying to boss each other around.

And the best part is that it's completely unfeasible in an MMO!

Jealousy is a terrible thing. How would it adversely impact your gameplay if others chose an easier mode in PvE?
... other than perhaps harming your ego?

It's a pointless question, not a rhetorical one.
Since it's not remotely feasible in an MMO, I'm opposed to the idea even being floated. It's not about being against player choice; it's about being against ridiculously impractical ideas.

Limits grouping, wastes development resources, encourages the idea that all "casuals" are bad players, etc.

Fair enough. I'm just used to taking silly questions/scenarios seriously for the purpose of ... mental exercise, or whatnot. It's about the only way I can stand to watch most sci-fi.
Just for personal fun and something to do, I'm trying to write a deliberately silly space-adventure story along the lines of HGttG, but I keep overthinking things and ruining it.

Absolutely no imagination. I bet he would be crap at table top games
