Ragnar - it may, I hope not, but if it does I will not play... And I will be sad.

I dont get the hate on f2p, would you rather have an empty closed down game? Its like the kid with the basketball not getting picked for a team, then takes the ball home.

Because f2p mostly equals p2w - I simply do not play this sort of game, I do not say you cannot.

No it does not equate to pay to win. This is some sort of panic-mongering. Give an example of a f2p game that includes p2w.

GW2 there's one. Want more? Sure you pay for the game, but no subscription. How do you think they keep the game going? People pay real money for gems and then can trade that in for in-game currency. No thanks. That is good for noobs, gold farmers, and hackers.. it is not for REAL gamers. That's just one small issue with f2p. Guess what? If you can't afford $15 per month for this game, DON'T PLAY IT and GO FIND A BETTER JOB.

What do you buy in GW2 that allows you to have an advantage over other players? Everything in their store is a xp boost or something cosmetic.

I think you misunderstand my question. Give me an example of a game where you buy items from a store that gives you an advantage in PvE or PvP over those who do not buy those items?

I'll even answer it for you, there isn't one. Why? Because the Free to Play model would not work then.

The argument about affording to pay a monthly sub versus paying for microtransactions is absurd. Honestly, I spend more money in Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars the Old Republic than I ever do in a monthly subbed game. I like my cosmetic features and I am willing to pay for them.

It is smart business for those games to increase their revenue in such a manner. It sounds as if you might be the one upset at not being able to purchase those items for whatever reason.

One example would be stat tomes in the Lotro store that increase base stats. These are virtually impossible to find as loot in game and provide an advantage to players that buy them over those that do not.

Fair enough. Although I am not as familiar with LotRs as others so I do not know what kind of impact stats have on gameplay. So that is 1 game out of 3 we have discussed and that 1 game is primarily PvE correct?

    Well, just look at this:
Effect from potion at level 50:
    Increase attack speed by 30%
    Increase movement speed by 5%
    Decrease casting speed by 10%
Increases damage done by abilities by 3%
Increasing the number of acquired Exp 10%

Lotro basic stats affect HP, MP, crit% etc similar to most RPG's. There are multiple levels of stat tomes for each stat, applying multiples of these tomes will increase base stats by a moderate amount, significant enough to provide an edge to people who use them over those that do not.
The advantages of some other 'shop exclusive' items are a bit 'fuzzy', depending which side of the fence you sit. One example would be bought tokens that remove daily quest limits. These can enable a player to access better/unique equipment much faster than another player, no matter how many hours/day he plays.
You are right, Lotro is primarily PvE.
As an aside, Lotro PvP balancing had a reduced effect on the PvE side of things as player skills could have altered functionality depending in which environment they were used (hint to ZOS).

Link to a thread that hopes ESO fails, please.

The burden of proof may technically be on the OP on this one, but it should only take you about 2.5 seconds to find one just by browsing the General forum.

To the OP, well said, sir. The devs may have made a few boneheaded decisions and there might still be a plethora of bugs, but this is still a fundamentally great game. There's a big difference between those of us who occasionally snark because we care about the game and those who snark because they just enjoy peeing in somoene's Wheaties. Those guys should find a new hobby.

I did a search for "I hope ESO fails".

No result. Now, are one of you going to be adults about this and actually give a link, or is this like bigfoot? You all claim to have seen it, but it does not really exist.

Oh, for the love of God, browse the Joke of the Day thread. Yeah, there are some clever and funny people on there who poke fun at ESO's bugs with comments like "Stamina Builds." Then there are those who just say, "ESO." That's not clever or funny, that's just blind negativity.

Also, he said an "I hope ESO fails" mentality, which I'm going to guess you and I are would interpret differently, since you actually went and did a search for the literal words "I hope ESO fails" and got on a high horse when you didn't find it. I browse this forum when I need to take a break at work. I'm not going to waste my time trying to find a literal expression of a figurative notion.

Poking fun at, insulting and general rude behavior is not the same as having the mentality of wanting the game to fail. Rude and immature would be a better definition for a lot of posts.

I have yet to see someone state that they hope or want the game to fail.

Just today, I saw a post that ended with with a statement directed at ZOS employees: "Soon, you will all be looking for new jobs."

I think that's the kind of mentality the SuraklinPrime is talking about. And that kind of thing isn't uncommon at all, from my recollection.

Ah, so making a joke about ESO is hoping it will fail in your eyes?

    I see.

Well, it's not. Sorry. Those are just jokes.

We all have different ways to express ourselves.

If I really wanted ESO to fail, I'd just keep telling ZOS how perfect their game is.

Just for the record, saying the game is doing badly is not the same as wanting the game to do badly.

This statement still does not equate to wanting ESO to fail. Without having read the post but keeping it in context with recent events, I am inclined to speculate that the phrase is meant for those patching/testing the game.

I just get irritated by all the over exaggeration and tantrum throwing. It's one thing to leave constructive feedback with ideas for people to discuss, and it's something completely different to just whine and scream nonsense all day over unspecified things. Going into random threads and making statements about bugs not being fixed, without any specific bug to discuss isn't constructive at all, and neither is all the constant comments that the game will end up this or that in the future because of whatever, as if anyone can predict the future. It's just so annoying to hear so much assumption from tantrum throwers. It's amazing how much $15 a month will change a persons behavior. Such a small amount, and it makes them believe they can moan about every little thing. I wonder if they'll ever look back and realize how childish they were? Maybe not. Ego always keeps the ignorant from evolving, and is possibly why they have so much free time on their hands in the first place.

I could be a smartass and say, "That explains why you have so much free time", to show how insults are not nice, but I won't bother.

I don't think anyone posting about a game, good, bad or whatever should affect your day. It is a game. As you put it, it's just 15 bucks a month.

So, why let negative reviews of the game, or people pointing out bad things about ESO get to you?

"I just get irritated by all the over exaggeration and tantrum throwing."

Really? You are going to let, "ignorant" people who leave random posts on a game forum upset you?

You are better than that. ;)

I said they irritate me. Not the same as being upset. Slight irritation doesn't necessarily mean I let them get to me. I come to this forum when I get some free time to read about a game I play, and sometimes run into a thread where grow adults are throwing a fit.

Almost every sentence of this could be reflected right back at you, for every sentence of this very post.

Not really. I'm not throwing a tantrum, this isn't a random thread, and I haven't made any predictions about the future. As for my free time, most of my posts are done from my iphone while I'm working, but that's none of your business.
