Imperial Motif---really worth 125k gold?

Hello =)

Is the Imperial Motif really worth 125k? I understand that it is considered a very rare drop, but is it truly worth all that gold?

Please consider the following before responding to this post:

**The MAJORITY of players upgraded to the Imperial Edition giving them access to convert most items to Imperial Style--free, but makes items bound to their account.

**In addition, the MAJORITY of players with upgrade can make an Imperial toon and CRAFT Imperial style armor----TO SELL TO OTHER PLAYERS.

**If a player only has the standard edition, they could easily ask a buddy/guildmate/zone to CRAFT that style of armor (since bulk of players have imperial edition), thus avoiding the need to spend 125k gold for motif.

I would appreciate feedback/responses to justify paying that much gold.

Thank you!

    No?

I mean, if you have the gold and nothing else to spend it on, sure, but it's not worth it for me, personally. I'm not likely to make that money back by crafting. Even if I sell each Imperial style piece for 2k, I'd have to find 60+ customers who have no access to the Imperial Edition. I scoffed when I was quoted 75k for that motif, even. I understand it's very rare, but I don't need it for personal use, so it's a huge waste of money.

    Anybody?

LOL, you waited 6 minutes before bumping your own thread? Relax. If this is for a sale that's occurring right this second, maybe you should've asked your question in /guild or /zone.

The ingame mail sent to you when you purchase. Also, I have crafted several Imperial items, on my Imperial toon, and sold them to other players....

Please justify why it's worth so much when it's a playable race? Daedric/Barbaric/Ancient Elves/Primal are NOT playable races.....so then why is imperial so much? Sounds like that motif is more of a 'collector' motif just to have and not profit off of....

    Its not worth that if:
    1. You can get it for less
    2. or you can live without it

It is if someone will pay 125,000 gold for it.... If someone won't pay that, then nope not worth it.

    To me? hell no.

still see it being sold at 35k, the colors may have been changed, but the rarity is still the same. BTW you can get this motif just for paying 20 more dollars.

It's like finding a high elf motif on the AD, accept you can at least go to another faction with that, using an alt

However, why bother to even get it for less?

I think motifs are overrated in general, at launch they were desirable as there were so many people playing that it could be difficult to find them.
However, now they are common (my guild stores have piles of them that nobody wants to buy) and I don't really see any justification in high prices, but if someone wants it badly enough I guess you can charge what ever you like.

I am still wondering WHY people are even paying 35k for Imperial motif when it's easy to find an imperial crafter or upgrade (only $20) to Imperial edition? It should NOT be worth so much when it's a playable race.

I probably wouldn't pay more than 20k for it, but then again my only non - imperial crafter is my woodworker, and I don't think I'd pay 20k for the ability to have an imperial themed staff or bow, maybe shield but I'm partial to the AE look for shields.

Honestly, the only motifs even worth more than 20k are the UNPLAYABLE races.

Zen probably WANTS it to be expensive. That way more people will buy the Imp edition. Why else would they make it rarer AND now turn it into the only GOLD motif?

1 - Lots of people didn't bother going with the Imperial edition seeing as how you could grab the standard for $20-30 in the past month.
2 - If you convert an item to imperial it makes it bound so you can't have someone craft you gear, convert it to imperial, then give it to you.

100k+ Is absurd but I'd say 50-75 is legit given how easy gold is to make and the fact that you can charge 1k extra per piece for that motif.

Honestly, the only motifs even worth more than 20k are the UNPLAYABLE races.

I found one a while back when it was blue. As an Imp, I go "WTF do I do with this?!" but as a crafting imp, "this MF needs more Bank space. How much I need? 25k more?" advertised as 30 let go to the first guy who offered 25k +COD costs

That's a stupidly-high price for it. I'm not shocked, though, because it's stupidly rare.

It's idiotic for Imperial to be the rarest motif, and you and I both know that the only reason it's that rare is to direct more players into buying the Imperial Edition.

I personally see this as perhaps the single sleaziest decision ZOS has made. And this nonsense is a repugnant side-effect of that sleazy decision.

No, it's not. But what anything is worth to someone is highly subjective.

It is crazy rare tho. I just looted one yesterday after playing for 2 months. If you want it now, plan to pay for it.

Considering your arguments, I would say "no". Scarcity alone does not make something worth a lot. Your argument is that of utility: if something is super rare but only very few people want it, the price does not increase much. It is only when demand exceeds supply that you see the price increase. In the real world, scarcity often creates an artificial value (rich collectors want something to brag about and to make them feel privileged), but this is not the case here. You can't brag about having acquired an in-game ability that half of the players already have "for free".

Also, the value of any motif is probably fleeting. After a while, all the people who want a particular motif will have found it, but they will keep dropping as random loot for everyone. Unless we get a steady flow of new players into the game, this is a trading spree that will come to an end.

But if you want that motif now, and have the gold to spare, sure, go ahead. The value of any item, in a game or in the real world, is only as high as the value you put on it yourself, and sometimes that means you are prepared to pay a lot for something that might not be worth that much to most other people.

So witnessing people's stupidity with purchasing this particular motif is really worth farming/hording??? It's a motif for a PLAYABLE RACE.

    Please justify your response =)

Right, however you can craft imperial gear---to sell for profit--- if you know someone with an imperial toon or you have an imperial toon.

So please justify why a playable race motif is worth even 20k?

Thank you for your response =)

    Justify how?
I was simply commenting that I've seen 2 sold over the last few days for 75k and 80k respectively. How is that stupidity? they are buying an in-game item for in-game currency. If they were spending RL money for them, yeah that'd be stupid !

It's worth a 1,000,000 gold if someone pays that much, just like art.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

Exactly, worth is a dynamic concept... and with general reference to the sale of goods or services, something is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.
