Imperial Motif---really worth 125k gold?

On the other it isn't worth that because you can always find one for sale for 50k or so.

Exactly, worth is a dynamic concept... and with general reference to the sale of goods or services, something is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.

I agree with you both...but please justify why this playable race motif, even to those who need instant gratification or gold to burn, is worth so much? This is a game item, not art hehehe. Comparing art with this particular motif is not the best analogy, in my opinion. Besides, players who are insanely rich would be smarter than to spend that much gold on this item....except the people who buy gold from sellers =(

Because its so rare to find. If people were finding 10 a week (like the blue motifs) it would only be worth 1200-1500 the same. Its the rarest item in the game, hence the highest price !

    Is it worth it?

    Depends I suppose.

I think everyday I play I see somebody trying to sell the rarer 11 - 14 motifs. As for the bottom 9 ... they are so common you almost can't even give them away.

    As for Imperial ...

It has been a couple of weeks since I have seen anybody try to sell one. It is very rare indeed that I do see one up for grabs.

    Hello =)

Is the Imperial Motif really worth 125k? I understand that it is considered a very rare drop, but is it truly worth all that gold?

Please consider the following before responding to this post:

**The MAJORITY of players upgraded to the Imperial Edition giving them access to convert most items to Imperial Style--free, but makes items bound to their account.

**In addition, the MAJORITY of players with upgrade can make an Imperial toon and CRAFT Imperial style armor----TO SELL TO OTHER PLAYERS.

**If a player only has the standard edition, they could easily ask a buddy/guildmate/zone to CRAFT that style of armor (since bulk of players have imperial edition), thus avoiding the need to spend 125k gold for motif.

I would appreciate feedback/responses to justify paying that much gold.

    Thank you!

(Please respond to this question without stating the obvious: item worth is subjective to player, people have gold to burn, etc. This thread is to discuss/share opinions about this particular item.)

Would you pay 20k-125k for a PLAYABLE race motif? If you saw a guild mate spend that much gold for this particular item, would you stop them? How about if they were about to buy it from you?

Ok, I'm going to give you a big boy answer.

Items in game (and in real life) are worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. Period. It's not rocket science.

If your assumption, that most everybody owns the Imperial Edition, was true I doubt that motif would be selling for so much.

    Here is food for thought:

The game has been out for 3ish months now. A lot of people who signed on in April with their Imperial Editions have quit. I guarantee you that there is a sizable segment of the community who does not have access to the Imperial line... People *ahem kids and unemployed adults* who have a lot of gold *ahem time* on their hands. If you have 100s of thousands of gold in your account it isn't a big deal to drop 60k ish on the Imperial Motif. What the hell else are you going to use all that gold on?

125k does seem steep, I'll give you that, but unless you're whining because you want that motif and don't have the Imperial Edition then why do you care??

That's a stupidly-high price for it. I'm not shocked, though, because it's stupidly rare.

It's idiotic for Imperial to be the rarest motif, and you and I both know that the only reason it's that rare is to direct more players into buying the Imperial Edition.

I personally see this as perhaps the single sleaziest decision ZOS has made. And this nonsense is a repugnant side-effect of that sleazy decision.

This is a rather cynical way to look at it.

Alternatively, it's so rare because they don't want to trivialize the bonuses that people who already bought the Imperial Edition paid for. That would anger quite a few people, I'm sure.

I doubt there are many people who upgrade to the Imperial Edition and I also highly doubt that anyone who buys the Imperial Edition right off the bat is thinking, "I better get this version, because I don't want to have to spend 100k on an Imperial motif somewhere down the line."

It's worth what people will pay for it. Asking price is *not* the same as selling price.

We have one in our guild store for 15k right now and nobody has bought it yet ...

A rare item is worth whatever people are prepared to pay for it. If someone is daft enough to pay 125K for it, then that is their problem, just as long as long as the buyer doesn't finance the purchase by buying gold from gold sellers.

    Hello, friends.

I just want to say if I get Imperial motif, I'm gonna sell it for an extremely high price. Maybe 100K, but when you're talking selling a gold colored item, you're talking some big bucks here.

Why do you think the purple ones are selling for 20K or even 25K? Rarity has a direct impact on the price of an item. If it's Gold, expect a fortune in your future. If it's purple, still a small fortune. Blue, maybe not as big of a profit, but some serious coin still, especially for low level players.

    Goodbye.

So what you are saying is the only reason people are buying this 'yellow' item at such a high price (this is a playable race motif---like nords) is because of it's rarity? It's not rare if the majority of players have the Imperial edition (note the several white horse mounts players have). Is it easier to just ask someone to craft you a set or spend 20k+ on a playable race motif?

Just because this item is yellow, is it truly worth that much gold?

Scarletblaze, most people will still ask for a heavy price. Sir Arena25 is part of the guild Craftaholics and Craftaholics United, and while they sell things to other guildies at reduced prices, no one gets a free set of Imperial. In fact, it still costs the average guildie 5K gold. This one can only imagine how much it will commend if a guildie of the above mentioned guild sold it to a nonguildie.

Well? What price would it commend?

P.S. This one does understands your argument, ScarletBlaze. But, this one must also ask, "Which would you rather pay? $20 or up to 125K gold (and at least 5K gold, which according to Lord Arena25, took him until level 12 to do).

    I understand that =)
However, how many players do you think are already imperial, but bought the motif anyways? Also, how many players buy the non playable race motif (ae/barbaric/daedric/primal) only to realize AFTER they learn that motif, they can't even craft it due to needing to be a high level crafter? So if you learn Imperial motif, those same requirements don't apply?
