Why are 0g junk weapons and armor clogging up backpacks and other containers?

We can manage the extra junk loot via addons ..

Why do we need to manage something that is not supposed to be in the game in the first place?

And speaking about add-ons, I don't find normal to use 20+ add-ons only to bring basic functionality to the game that was supposed to be already included. Especially in a premium subscription based game.

Hey guys, we're working on getting clarification on this. We'll let you know as soon as we have some information.

Do you guys ever have an answer?

I never said it was right, but at least it's possible. That was the entire point of my post.

This so called 'new feature' creates several problems:
    1. impact on the chances to get good items from crates, trunks, wardrobes, cabinets etc.
    2. Inventory management issues - you need to use manual looting instead of automatic looting or hope to find an add-on that should take care of this task without creating additional problems like filtering / destroying useful items
    3. Worsen the existing inventory related issues created by the undersized inventory in the case the crappy items are picked up instead of being filtered.

I don't think that we really need this kind of 'new features' in the game, since a lot of time already needs to be allocated to manage your inventory, the bank, the guild bank, etc.

Fair enough. I don't have a problem with your statement.

I do have a problem with things that are not properly done so somebody else has to invest additional effort to make it work.

I do not have an issue with adding junk armor/weapons to the junk table and including them in the cabinets, chests, barrels, sacks, etc.

What I DO have a problem with, is that they do not stack.

I am a level 50 Provisioner. One who needs Salt for my primary recipe. This means I spend a LOT of time looting these types of containers hoping for the 1-4 Salt that might drop.

In order to save myself time, I have Auto-Loot turned on.

Now I find that my bag space is crammed full of these worthless items. So I am constantly having to dump them into the Junk section, or Destroying them on the fly.

At least with the low level/white food items or lockpicks I could sell/trade them to other users who can use them.

Now, I am stuck with tons of trash, unless I want to turn off Auto-Loot and spend time at each container trying to determine if I want/need can use/trade the loot items.

Yeah, I am all for "picked up in world" stuff. Swords in dungeons, in armor/weapon racks, etc. But please, whomever decided that putting these into interactable containers needs to have their coffee and chocolate allowance revoked until the end of the year.

Yeah, I get that this was most likely done to slow down, annoy the hell out of, or otherwise interfere with exploiters, but for legitimate farmers like myself and others, this change is just very painful, and I truly hope that it is being reconsidered after all of the complaining from the user base.

First off, I read first page and not all the others. I thought this whole "interactive" thing meant I'd finally be able to spam "E" on all the coins I find laying around annoying the hell out of me because I cannot loot them. Not absolute garbage from containers :( I'm glad they fixed the loot radius ***, but finding absolute garbage loot which now includes duplicate recipes is just plain stupid. I get enough garbage loot as it is (worms and crawlers for two since fishing is worthless). I don't think y'all (Zenimax) really play the game at all.

They finally get around to adding in something that should have been in the game from the start, something that has been in most of the past Elder Scrolls games, and people throw a fit.

You can't run around spamming E on every container? Oh no!

You can't sell off the gear for gold? Oh no!

You might not get as many motifs & recipes? Oh no!

I don't mind it near as much as some others do. If some people wanted the game to feel more like an ES RPG, then I am cool with that. Doesn't bother me at all and the game needs every sub it can muster at this point.

Yes, I am using Dustman. It's been updated to work with the new patch and it's got some nice options.

They are doing that because people complained about immersion and that in every other elder scrolls franchise game you could pick crap you didn't want or need up and store it in your house in a pentagon with your wive's dead heads next to it.

Id rather they listened to the 'ive got no room in my bags' complaints.

I think most of us were misled by the 'out in the world' comment in the patch notes, but I agree with you generally.

And as I said earlier in the thread, the armour and weapon drops will be a boon to new players as it reduces the 'do I deconstruct to level crafting, or do I sell to make some much needed gold?" dilemma.

If this is a confirmed bug as so many people are claiming rather than an actual intended change why is it not appearing on the known issues list?

Why are there now junk weapons and armor pieces appearing inside lootable backpacks and furniture like dressers and cabinets? I much prefer the pre-patch drops of food, recipes and crafting materials instead of this useless garbage. Yes, the other stuff still drop, just not as frequently now because of the junk weapons and armor that have been added to the loot tables.

It's a lazy way of dealing with bot farmers who would program their toons to pick up junk and vend it. Instead they should just hire a crack team of in game commandos who run around killing bots.

Also they should just make loot much more rare and give them appropriate gold values, this would fix a lot of problems (including inventory maintenance) and greatly improve the economy.

I really hope that it was a mistake. I've been trying to level Provisioning and having to go through and destroy all that junk and getting less than what I usually get has been frustrating. If they are gonna add stuff like that into the loot table then they need to make it easier to get items for Provisioning instead of having to loot all that stuff.

Guys, just use this mod, Dustman: http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info97-Dustman.html

It auto deletes those weapons and armor. Takes a couple settings changes and it works wonderfully.

EDIT: I have also noticed that these items have not altered the loot table too much. They appear to be taking the place of low quality stuff like flint and lockpicks. Sucks having to use a mod to do this, but what can you do...

All these things are meant to do is sit in a container and grief player after player until they finally grief a bot.

I think it's a pretty lame and sad way to treat the vast majority of people who play by the rules just to get at the few who use bots.
My concern can be measured in micro-give-a-craps.

0gold weapons and armour should not be in containers, they should just have them on weapon racks for those who need them. My helm did break and it was handy to have a replacement helm, so it's not totally useless, though needs improvement.

Stop putting them in containers and backpacks and just have them on lootable weapon racks instead or laying on the ground or something like that.

I was thinking, there is no reason that these 0g items can't be made to have a value further down the track when the Thieves guild/justice system is implemented.

Pinching swords and armor and going through the bags of NPC's will then trigger crime which will add the whole risk vs reward aspect and prevent bots from grinding them for cash. It just seems to suck right now because up until this point we've had free reign over anything not nailed down.

Brings up a further point, people are going to go apes*** when crime is added and we can't take anything we want anymore... It will be a hell of a sight!!

This whole thing seems like a setup for future plans to me.

Agreed! This is completely an inconsideration. Inventory is already bad enough, so I just wont pick up the junk on the ground or tables(I told myself), but then i was getting JUNK in boxes, and in crates, and in bags. WTH?!?!? I cannot control whats in bags, so WHY did they put this JUNK in there!? Aweful!

I played long enough last night to feed my horses and loot a handful of containers and world visible items. I didn't see a single trash item inside of containers. Maybe I am seeing something different because I don't autoloot? I did note the break down xp value for dwarven and orichalcum BS items ranged between 150-200 inspiration for the baseline items.

    Bro,
That's because you're a noob, a deftard, a terrybad and you should uninstall TESO and go back playing Hello Kitty Online.

    YOU = Me, Thar Nid.

    Noobs like us gather stuff.
Go to basket -> select/click basket -> find ingredient.

PRO's (this thread is full of PRO's)
Use gather everything scripts/addon/third party soft that's always up.
Click like mad on take everything key once 10 meters away from something that could look like a basket.

You my bro, from the NoobX Club, can open 1 000 000 baskets/nightstands/wardrobes/sacks/bags and never ever will find a weapon or equipment in it.

Pro's will open 3 baskets and 2 nightstands and will gather 1 000 000 weapons and set of white equipment,

    PLEASE ZOS.
For my bro André and a couple of others from the NoobX Club. Can you put for us white armor and weapons in containers here and there so we can feel a bit less noobish and a bit more PRO.

Thank you in the name of my fellow members from the NoobX Club.

Yes, I hate this. Had a hard enough time trying to keep inventory cleaned out, just to add more worthless junk to it. If they were worth something or could gain some xp from decon or research maybe it would be ok. I don't think I have even seen one with a trait on it yet. I think they are just taking up the slot where motifs and recipes were dropping........lol

Don't you know that's how life works? One dork can ruin something for everyone. A natural swimming hole that kids used for generations? One new kid from out of town insists on ignoring the other kids, dives, and breaks his neck. The parents raise hell, and the hole is drained as being a danger.

One person in a platoon messes up, the entire platoon gets to pick up the cigarette butts in the sports field.

It only takes ONE person to do something stupid or illegal to spoil an activity/remove a freedom for everyone.

The response to this was usually to encourage the bad-doers peers to "correct" them.
