9GB download!

and those of us raging about the patch hitting us with the awesome "Client Fatal Error" crash and forcing us to download 24K MB?

Should we be okay with that?

I'm not being smug or otherwise in this reply, but I've never encountered that error. If I had, or do I will be looking it up here and online in general for fixes. Raging just prolongs frustration and results in, well, no results. Have you searched the forum for that problem?

They only let us download the patch when server maintenence is done. Thus everyone downloads at the same time and the server resources are bottlenecked.

Why couldn't we download it in the background in bits and pieces like every other MMO out there instead of all at once AFTER maintence?

Holy crap. I wish they would tell us UP FRONT how big the total download is. I based my decision to let it run on the original 4Gb that it said, which will cost me $40 with my rural internet connection. I grudgingly decided to let it go since I wanted to play. Walked away, came back later, and now learning it's going to cost me $80-$90. Had I know that up front, I would have taken my computer to a friend/relative's place for the download...

If you have a big enough external flash or disk drive, you can copy the game folder from one machine to another.

This has worked for me in the past, at any rate. Then again I'm stuck at 160 kB/s and it will be a while before I know for sure this time.

That is *** obscene what they are charging for your internet.

Basic circle of complaints on ESO Forums:
    1) Users: Fix game/class/bug
    2) Zenimax Online: Brings servers down and fixes issues and deploys patches.
    3) Users: OMG SERVERS ARE DOWN!!!!!
    4) Zenimax Online: Brings servers back up!
    5) See 1)

That was kinda crazy at the end of patch - went from about 3mB/s to about 26mB/s....Took less time in the last half for me.

Same here. I think the mB/s part is happening locally as it is applying the patch to your game files. My HDD light is having a rave. The first part which was abysmally slow I am guessing was the download. ;)

From what I've read here there may or may not be another. *shrug* Hopefully it will finish by the time I am off of work.

I live out in the desert and I have the latest and fastest "high speed" DSL connection they just came out with - 3mbps. So this 9Gb download is painfully slow. I hope from now on when they want to do patches they consider that some of us just can't get really fast internet speeds and make these patches in smaller sizes.

Only amateurs do that. What if it turns out there is a problem with the patch?
Then everyone need to dl the full game again, instead of the way Zenimax do it.
They run the server patch, make sure it works, THEN release the client patch.
Only way to make sure it actually works as intended.

    8-9GB?

By Sithis that's a huge patch. Well, I guess I'll be able to play tomorrow. I hate Australian internet infrastructure. Had we moved somewhere a few streets away we'd have NBN. But nope ADSL 2+ is all you get, chumps.

I've been patching downloading since this morning, 1.2GB left of the first 4GB. :'(

Tears averted for me, the download was only the 4GB one. Not sure why some are having to download more. Strange.

They are probably in Canada, they charge outrageous internet fees in some places up there if you exceed your monthly download cap. Won't be long before they start doing it all over the place :\

Well, I been downloading the patch for the past 20 minutes now and I'm only at 17%. In fact it's been at 17% for the last 5 minutes. This is going to take ALL day. I'm also in Oz on ADSL2+. This is ridiculous that this is what passes as broadband in 2014.

Indeed I am. It's $10/Gb if I go over my 15 Gb/mo cap. Though, the first 15 Gb costs me $120, so it's not much cheaper.

    My options are
    a) crappy satellite with nasty latency. A non-starter for gaming, I think...
    b) 4G

So ya, my router is a cell phone...

And I though Net access in Oz was bad. At least I get 200GB a month with no excess usage (just shaping) and I get a phone for $5 on naked ASDL2+ from Internode.

I would guess he is tethering to his cell phone 3g connection and those are the rates from the phone company.

Well, It's been over an hour - still downloading...

been over 7 hours here. Download took 5. Then got a "Fatal Client Error" just like I did last patch. Now I am repairing and the game is going through a 24K MB download that is only on 21% after 2 hours.

Trying very hard not to cancel my sub right now. Between this and what I have seen of more stealth buffs for enemies (CC immunity) I am on the last straw.

I've lost a day I planned on playing off my sub. I am sending a ticket to CS in the morning. I want a day added to my account.

I doubt they care/will do anything, but I'm going to try.

    2 hours and counting...

How long was the server down for last night anyway.
Here it went down about 10pm and I check at midnight and it was still down.
The last update brought the server down for 5 hours. Though that patch didn't take this long to download.
  • lexior1b14_ESO

Good night all screw this. :/
