Even nowadays (3 years later)Is maybe Skyrim having more players by day than ESO?

A lot of people is creating new subs everyday. The whole forums and empty guilds are just wrong. The game is amazing, vet zones rules. Plenty of groups, plenty of people to group. Nobody rerolling because have nothing to do.
All well balanced, the game is perfect. No need for a forum, just continue paying the beta game we have.

Stop eating Nutella??? Them's fightin' words!

The thing is, the OP is comparing apples to oranges. Both Skyrim and ESO are great in their own way, and aside from lore, they don't have a lot to do with each other. Skyrim is my first love, and I'll probably always have a game going (totally addicted to the mods), but that doesn't make me like (or play) ESO any less. I play Left 4 Dead as well, but that doesn't mean I prefer it over the other two.

But seems the pro-nowadaysTESO fans, do not judge post like this one.

Regarding the dovahkids some user said up there...If you want to think I came here from Skyrim...it's ok...Continue in your pararell world, the rest of people is just wrong. The only ones knowing the truth are the ones saying ESO is GREAT.

Well you can play your way is Skyrim, like say being a heavy armor 1h and shield user.

Is it not more likely that because ESO is both an MMO and part of the ES series, those that came to ESO who came for the MMO part, may have simply decided to splash out on the other games in the series as well, to entrench themselves and 'catch up' as it were?

Those who are here for the ES part of ESO would have come here MMO or not, i'd imagine. And most likely already own Skyrim et al anyway.

Hey I was talking about the pararell world you live in an ironic way, but with you seems its real...the details I posted are happening since the beginning. Of course being a lot more in the first year. Those 50-65.000 users playing is happening since a year before Skyrim was released, not since april 2014...

Don't take this as an offence, but I don't know what you're talking about here so i'm going to have to guess :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: . I simply threw a possible idea as to why it shows more people playing Skyrim recently. And chances are that's due to more people becoming aware of the series from the MMO crowd dipping their toes in the ESO water.

We don't have the sales figures for ESO to compare to at the moment anyway? Or did I miss something?

It is not normal that a game that costs maybe 3 times more to produce and that was going to be the AAA mmo is played less than a game using the same franchise and released 3 years ago. It is not normal, if it is, then ZOS should be VERY happy about it.

First, show me the numbers that say less than 65,000 people are playing ESO. Second, 65,000 people is not that much tbh. 65,000 is a small city. I would be willing to bet there are alot more people playing ESO than that. Whether they like it or not is for another thread. Heck, 65,000 people probably live in my small section of the city that I live in, as there are 1.38 million people here.

I do love it when players think that they can see ALL the other players in the world that are playing too.

There is this whole concept of instances....

In fact, I had a glitch back in my DC campaign a while ago, where I am pretty sure every player in the world that was experiencing the 'Falchou' flashback dungeon all got dumped into just one instance. There was literally like 400 people in this tiny dungeon making a solid line from the entrance to the boss. You couldn't even see where to go.

Well in two words, STEAM SALE! But honestly, the game doesn't cost anything to play and doesn't go on maintenance or heavy grinding. Also, most ES players are amateur artists and designers and that game is an amazing outlet for such talent.

You can basically use the same argument with ESO for addon developers. If this game was really worth the money they are charging to keep people interested in playing.

You should go back and try it. The modding community has made skyrim what it is, It's scores more atmospheric, less buggy, looks better, fixes some gameplay mechanics and adjusts the UI enough to make it a really amazing game.

I love Skyrim, don't get me wrong. But in some ways, it seems like the "Call of Duty" of the ES franchise. What I mean by that is, a lot of people started playing Skyrim that never played any other TES games. Hell, a lot of them didn't even know there WERE other TES games. Yet these people try to act like they are lifelong hardcore TES fans. The result is these same people trying to compare every other ES game to Skyrim, and getting pissed when it's not exactly the same.

IMHO, marketing campaing, that fantastic video....and mainly the FREEDOM. And then of course the settings, the fantastic remastered engine that made a lot of people release fantastic mods. So it would be a combination of everything. Beth experience too, they know how to reach everybody, and that's not easy. Some new mechanics, the dragons (that now we all are sick of haha), etc, etc...It is a bit of everything. Beth knows how to do it.

And of course is not as rpg like Morrowind, or even Oblivion. With Oblivion they change a little bit. Are more action-rpg oriented if you just play the main quest. I don't know...then you have mods that can make the game the most hardcore ever (frostfall, etc, etc)...So new players and experienced ones can enjoy the game, even today.
