Even nowadays (3 years later)Is maybe Skyrim having more players by day than ESO?

You can see it, JUST in Steam. Every day (around 50.000-65.000 people playing Skyrim. Nowadays, 3 years later. Enter nexus mods, hundreds of mods everyday.
So, is maybe even today, a lot of time before Skyrim release, being more played than the brand new TESO?

I think yes, and that’s not even normal.

Yes, i cancelled yesterday but my game stills active until 7 august and I can tell you that I really want to play this game if ZOS fix what everybody knows and say.

The topic is just about being curious. I don't know, where is the bad thing about asking this?

Plus I think it says something about how the game is doing? Don't you think?

I don't find it surprising at all frankly that many people are playing Skyrim, I'm sure far older games like Morrowind or even Daggerfall are still played by many thousands or tens of thousands daily.

Not sure what "and that's not even normal" means, if you're trying to say more players playing a three-year-old game than a brand new one isn't 'normal', since you have no facts to base you theory on then your conclusion is kind of fatally flawed, no?

It is not normal that a game that costs maybe 3 times more to produce and that was going to be the AAA mmo is played less than a game using the same franchise and released 3 years ago. It is not normal, if it is, then ZOS should be VERY happy about it.

If it was about another franchise it does not affect, but if theres a brand new AAA MMORPG called ELDER SCROLLS and people is playing more the the Elder Scrolls released 3 years ago, something is wrong there.

The most annoying thing in many (way too many) topics on forum and in game is that people keep crying that its not a SKYRIM. Seriously... How is the game called ? The Elder Scrolls Online. The Elder Scrolls is NOT just skyrim and get over it people. This game is based on world created by series of games with The Elder Scrolls name. The only people who are crying are:
    1. Skyrim fans who never played other TES games
    2. TES fans who forgot that it is MMORPG and not another part of TES series.
    3. Hardcore WoW and other "main" MMO players.
If you feel disappointed that means that you were expecting something that was never real. I didnt expect another single player TES, WoW 2.0 or for gods sake Skyrim and thats why I totally feel ok in game. If you dont like it, quit it.

I could do the same topic based in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Given that Skyrim is also available on consoles I'd say that that's not a terribly difficult conclusion to reach. Also irrelevant.

I didnyt mean the last part you quote. Sorry for my english, maybe is confusing sometimes. I'm from Spain, English is mot my native language and I make mistakes.

The completely false I answered was about the whole thing you don't quote:
If you feel disappointed that means that you were expecting something that was never real. I didnt expect another single player TES, WoW 2.0 or for gods sake Skyrim and thats why I totally feel ok in game.

If ones feel dissapointed is because the game is not being exactly what the developers from ZOS said was going to ge. I didn't expect another single player, nor wow, nor other mmorpg (the only one I played and liked was Age Of Conan for two years). I didn't expect Skyrim. I expected an Elder Scrolls mmorpg. What I have now is a good random single player game until level 50, and once you reach level 50 you have the most lazy and stupid design ever. In the middle, I just have some skins form TES universe and some landscapes here and there mixed with I don't know what really.

It is not that the game feels or not like Skyrim, it is that the game does not feels like an Elder Scrolls game, nor it feels like a real mmorpg. It feels more like an unfinished single player game where the devs added some unfinished online aspects. Or you could say to, that it feels more like an unfinished online game, where the devs added some unfinished single player games features.

In short: they used Elder Scrolls game to sell a random presudo-mmorpg mixed with a psuedo-single player game.

I would like a lot to change my opinion, but I don't see anything helping me to change it when log to the game and play.

Doesn't change the fact that I enjoy playing TESO just as much as the SP Elder Scrolls games.

Skyrim is a great game. I still play it, but then again I have played it constantly since release while still sinking time in to many MMOs.

I think attempting to correlate the playing of two separate games is odd. People are allowed to (and should imo) enjoy more than just 1 game at a time, variety and spice and all.

I'm not saying it is not normal to play both games. I'm saying it is not normal from a business point of view to see Skyrim 3 years later having more players than TESO that was released 3 monhts ago and was the new AAA mmorpg. Both Elder Scrolls games. It is not normal, at least i suppose it was not what ZOS expected. If not, what a waste of money and effort.

You are completely laying your personal opinions down as business fact at this point in my opinion. Why on earth would ZOS or any other MMO developer be worried about what single player offline games their subscribers are playing? From a business point of view, wouldn't they actually what a situation like this? Especially when the single player game in question is part of the same IP and published by a sister company?

Now i will grant that any MMO dev would want you playing their game as much as possible. I have to say though that your thinking just isn't making sense to me in as you lay it out in the quoted post. Or this thread for that matter.

Plenty of games have higher user bases that are older than new MMOs, ESO isn't the exception. Skyrim just happens to be one in this case, there is no worthwhile correlation imo.

(Assuming it is at all, given no population markings by ZOS)

Have Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind - but couldn't get into them. Arena reminded me too much of playing Wolfenstein 3D, and I couldn't detect a thread to follow.

Daggerfall was just ... huge. Went into towns to talk to folks, which was cool. Suppose I could get into that game, but have a feeling that finishing it would take over a year.

Morrowind. Heard so much goodness about it, just had to give it a try. Well, it just seemed boring to me, but perhaps I didn't play it long enough. Maybe its just the game engine.

Well given that one of the games you mention can be purchased for $9.99 right now and has been adding new players daily for 2 1/2 years, and the other one is $60 + subscription and has been in the market for about three months, I would expect the numbers to be exactly as you state they are. I'm not sure what you are so surprised about.

So as it seems the only one surprised is me, then don't worry.
Eso will be successful, you will never see this game going f2p.
A lot of people is creating new subs everyday. The whole forums and empty guilds are just wrong. The game is amazing, vet zones rules. Plenty of groups, plenty of people to group. Nobody rerolling because have nothing to do.
All well balanced, the game is perfect. No need for a forum, just continue paying the beta game we have.

It is just my imagination, so go ahead and have fun, veterans.
Don't worry, in a few weeks you will be the only ones talking here in your pararell world and knowing that the rest of the community was wrong and people cancelling subs were wrong.

Stay strong! You will always have more vet levels to enjoy and buffed mudcrabs to kill.
