Waiting on a Character Restore - 13 Days

CharmCityGaming
I submitted a support request, 140605-002447, on June 5th to have a character restored. After bouncing between support agents 5 times, the ticket landed with a representative that was truthful regarding the issue they were experiencing. He was very responsive to questions until recently, where I haven't received a response in over 3 days at this point as to the status of the request. Is it expected for a character restoration to take this long? Seeing as how I haven't received and communications from the assigned support representative, I'd appreciate it if a support representative on the boards could look into this issue and provide me any type of assistance. Thanks in advance.

I'm a little disappointed that this hasn't gotten so much as a "sorry to hear it, we'll look into it". Yet again last night, a character was restored to my account, yet wasn't the character that was requested to be restored...

I would call them. That way you can explain the wrong character has been restored and see if they can get you in touch with upper level support to restore the correct character while you are on the phone.
  • CharmCityGaming
Unfortunately I've already done that as well. But you're right, at this point it's either call them again and try to talk to someone who can do something for me, or blow up Twitter until they respond. :|

I don't think they have the ability to restore characters. They can create characters from templates and level them.

    Hi @CharmCityGaming‌!

We looked into your case and we want to assure you that our specialists are on the case. The reason you haven't received any update since your last response is that we have no news for you, yet. Unfortunately, there was an error with this very character while we tried to restore it which was quite unique, and we need to look into this with the dedication and care it deserves as the special case it is.

Please be assured that our dedicated team is looking into it and you will receive an update on the matter as soon as we can provide you with one. We appreciate your support and patience in the matter.

Yigael, thanks for the response. I understand that issues aren't always straight forward, it's just beneficial sometimes to convey that there's no news to a customer rather then sending no update at all. Thanks again for your response.

We, the consumers and gamers, would forgive even the worst of gaming violations against us, with a little communication.

It isn't a bad product that will let a company down, it is bad customer service. The bad product will kill itself soon enough :open_mouth:

@ZOS_YigaelK, is this true? I've asked about this previously and was told it wasn't within your powers. If this is an option, I'd certainly take it if it meant getting my character back sooner, regardless of having to go back and re-do content.

In this thread (http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/110995/character-restore-lack-of-support-given) another player was getting the run around about character restore. There was never an answer on whether a character restore could even BE done. At least you're getting some Mod response in this thread. Good luck to you, OP. Hope everything works out.

@Mallow, thanks man. Appreciate the support.

I got the same problem, but after waiting over a month for my VR8 to be restored i gave up and quit the game. I hope you have better luck than i did.

@Alliel, that's disheartening to hear. I looked at ESO as my saving grace from continuing WoW for another expansion. The game I love, the bugs I can deal with, but issues like this are hard to stomach. I certainly feel for you.

In case anyone was following this thread regarding an outcome, ZOS was unable to restore my previous character. What they did do was have me recreate my character, and then they leveled her to VR1. I was VR9, so that was mildly upsetting, but at least I wasn't starting from ground zero. They also gave me VR1 blue quality gear of all types, sent me all of the Motifs my character had previously required, and spawned a Bloodfiend so that I could also regain my Vampirism. I was also refunded the gold that was last noted on my character, as well as compensation for all of the bag upgrades I had previously purchased. All quest and zone progress(es) were reset, and they mentioned there was the possibility of a bug in the main story line, however I didn't experience that issue.

So yes, I didn't get my character back, and I have a lot of work to repeat, but considering the circumstances, I'm happy with the outcome. I'm currently done Auridon, Grahtwood, and Greenshade, heading into Malabal Tor. I'm splitting time between the begining AD zones and XP grinds in Craglorn. Although not what I asked for, I'm back to loving this game.

That is good to hear but at the same time sad they can't restore characters, but, I'm happy for you either way!
