If they had an open world PvP server they would need to do something about the VR Ranks or put in a rule set to keep them from demolishing low level characters non stop (griefing).

I'm a fan of open world PvP... but, here are some reasons why this should not happen:

with the small community that this game has, the numbers just don't warrant it;
this game is too tedious to level in already;
part of the levelling issue is the dependence on questing - players would be getting pked while having 'conversations' with npcs non-stop;
the transportation system would become useless as these areas would become camped 24/7;
separate rule sets would be needed (to alleviate some of the above problems, and more) and with all that needs fixing/balancing in this game, the PC dev team's resources don't need to be split. You can't just open a new world, set everyone's pvp flag to 'on' and call it a day.
'phasing' as suggested a couple of posts above would not work... who would go there to level? You would only go there to pk and that's basically what Cyrodil is for already.

The only thing necessary is to add some (or at least one of each) level 25 cap and level 40 cap campaigns. Hard-core PvPers could start their careers at level 10 somewhere where they can compete and this would take very little dev time to implement and update (heck, any bells and whistles added to the current campaigns could be ignored for these in future updates, if dev time is limited).

I am sure there are a number of ways they could do it... A few things off the top of my head...

Similar to Cyrodil but more emphasis on PvE..
Open PvP every where
Accessible to all 3 alliances simultaneously but with different entry points
Bigger PvE/PvE, more complex instanced dungeons with different entry points
Rarer Overworld bosses with unique drops that can be killed by one person but only spawn every 2-4 hours or more
Larger cosmopolitan city that is neutral in the alliance war. If they add an arena, house it here (I'm not advocating for an arena btw).

I'm sure we could all come up with some great ideas but the above is a start..

A PvP toggle on open world PvP would be great.
Those who do not wish to participate in that simply don't toggle it on.
As another user above me said, use the phasing for this. If you have it on, you are phased to the same zone as other players who also have it toggled on.

WOW's PVE servers clearly demonstrate the even with the PVP flag to prevent you being attacked you can still get flagged by PVP jerks exploiting game mechanics, not to mention levelers being griefed by PVP jerks slaughtering quest NPCs and the like preventing questing.

NO WORLD PVP thanks, keep it is its own little ghetto called Cyrodil out of the way of the majority of players who have no interest in it.

In hact, better still, REMOVE PVP altogether, I'm fed up with the PVE side fo the game being nerfed to Oblivion as a result of endless PVPer QQ.

This could be handled by making quest npc:s immortal.
And for PvP to toggle, you actually have to type it instead of accidentally right clicking a player and enabling it.

And as I said, when you have it on, you are phased to another instance. I am not sure how people will accidentally toggle it on by abusing game mechanics.

i did not pass on, nor did i DIE like you mentioned. im simply asking normaly and kindly for a function of a server for us people who prefer this type of gameplay like other mmo's have.
this isnt going out on a limb and completely lost in space. this is a real request from a real person.

Gee if only there was an area to gather PVPers. This way they can find each other and fight each other. Something Very BIG and open that is persistant. It should have quests and skyshards. Maybe even overall PVP objective like crowning the best PVPer king or something.

Crowning a king shouldn't be easy. We have 3 factions so we could create war of sorts where the 3 factions fight to claim a king.

The open would would allow people of all levels allowing for ganking. Maybe even hot spots to FIND people and gank them or simply have a more fair fight.

If only something like that would be implemented for the PVPers.

Indeed, you are asking in that way however what you're asking for is a mega-server with different rules catering solely for a minority of the players .. even in games where open world PVP exists the population on PVE servers is greater than that on PVP servers (WOW, Rift, to name but two) .. and given the expense one can only imagine of a mega-server farm I can't see ZOS ever doing so.

Open-world PVP on the existing servers is what I was addressing in my reply, as as I just noted, I would assert those wanting open world PVP are minority of a minority and the disruption to the rest (as I also mentioned earlier) wouldn't be acceptable IMO.

I don't have ANY idea what people think they are going to get out of "open world pvp".

Everything you want in open world PVP is IN Cyrodiil. All you do if find the zerg find the other factions closest keep and wait from them to come out and gank them.

This is actually one of THE greatest strategies you CAN do as MOST people ARENT waiting for others run with in Cyrodiil as that's WHY they are joining the zerg. Its an easy group to find and where all the action is.

I RARELY see combat running back to the zerg or have to worry about gank squads which is WRONG to be honest. I and many others like me should FEAR attempting to get back to the zerg without team work.

Plus this slows the zerg's regen rate. The zerg witht the better regen has a better advantage then the one without. So gank squads HELP sway the zerg fight in their favor.

Ummm... you are aware of the severs are merged, it will be because running and maintaining two megaservers, is not viable. I doubt you would see more PVP players on there than EU players as a whole.

ok so open world pvp in TESO.

HOW does this happen faction vs faction? HOW are you going to the other factions just use a way shrine? Now you in a new faction is it veteran like its supposed to be or its standard level as if you WERE in that faction??

Are VR12s fighting level 10s???? Whats to stop a VR12 from fighting a level 10?

Whats to be done about way shrine camping???? Can fights be fought in towns??

What happens when only a 100 people join this open world?

Being a confirmed non-PVPer I don't either.

Some who played WOW at launch wax lyrical about Tarren Mills and how hundreds(!) of players engaged in massive PVP wars over the Alliance town in that zone.

All I've ever seen in WOW, Rift and the like where flagged PVP exists is ganking of lowbies by bored level-capped players or infamous "Crossroads" raids in WOW where a pack of Alliance level 60s slaughtered all the Horde NPCs in the Crossroads (a level 10-20 quest hub) to prevent Horde lowbies leveling.

On PVP servers it was even worse.

This is why I'm implacably against open-world PVP and won't ever subscribe again to a game that has it, many PVPers aren't adults and behave as such, they consider griefing (aka. cyber bullying) to be fun.

it's just a request.
same thing when i thought eso would have morrowind, when i discovered morrowind was not in eso i requested it be there as is fitting to the elderscolls series, in addition to many many other things that belong to morrowind are not in eso, so i simply made a request. it was not insulting nor breaking any rules.

I say just use Cyrodiil. While open world sounds good, this game wasn't designed with open world in mind and wouldn't work even slightly.

Cyrodiil is by far the best PVP experience anybody wanting pvp is going to find other than those wanting arena/battlegrounds.

look, i do apreciate your comments, (not really cause most of them are a bit insulting and just not true to facts) but the real reason i made this thread was just a request for something that isnt asking alot. if you dont like this type of thing then simply dont join in and simply dont go to that server. you loose nothing and nothing was forced on you.

PVP is locked away for a reason. To keep greifers on a tight leash. Not every game ever released has to have world pvp. If you have to have the ability to trash the game for someone else go elsewhere. Its not needed or wanted

You have to look at the current state of things and see where the majority of players are. I have been in the Cyrodill area twice. I think. It's large and has controllable "ports" and only one Wayshrine. Yes, you could pay the bus fare in gold to get out fast. But, that one Wayshrine doesn't sit well with me -- not to mention getting my butt handed to me within a second -- even when with a group. I like a challenge. But, I'm not gonna slam my head up against a wall forever and go, "Wow, this is great." So, I don't do it, yet. At this late date If I were to enter a PVP zone as a fresh VR1, I'd still get ***. That would turn me off instantly. Because in games with PVP zones, there is always the group that loves to camp and harass.
