Should I buy ESO?

If you are a fan of the elder scrolls series this game is really worth trying out. It is not like other mmo´s (praise the daedra lord). Some mechanics are diffrent so it might take awhile to get use to it. See you in Tamriel.

I have seen some bots in low level areas, but haven't seen many/any after leaving the lower level zone. I'm pretty sure the gold glitches have been addressed (never impacted me), and I haven't seen any hackers (might be some out there but hasn't had an impact on my gameplay).

If you want a game that has a "skyrim" style artistic feel/atmosphere, a very good and interesting story, great character customisation, and plays a lot like a single-player rpg with mmo elements then I think ESO is a great buy.

If you want a straight up "WoW clone" where you rush to max level to do raids and the quests are mainly just kill 10 of this, collect 10 of that then this game is not for you.

For example I have played other mmos where I would group in pve and we would just blow through quests blindly in a repetitive grind of kill/collect/hand in, racing from quest giver to quest giver as fast as possible.

You can do that in ESO, but it would be a waste imo. Like a good single-player rpg, ESO is trying to tell you a story and the way much of the questing is set up is more like say Dragon Age Orgins than a typical mmo.

It really depends on what you like and are you patient. I love this game, play it every day and still love it despite the phasing and the bugs and the flying bots. Those things will all get fixed and this will be a gem of a game. That's where patience comes in. Get in, enjoy the game and remember that all new MMOs go through the exact same problems. There is always a growing period.

ESO is a game for players that love details, journey´s and open world exploring.

If you can smile about a bunny that hops away if you approach it, if you can laugh about an NPC that tries to mate with you, if you are able to make choices for your Char that have an actual impact on your standing with NPC´s then yes, ESO could be your game.

If you however want to raid the same 12 maggots every week for months, be measured by DPS Addons, proving your worth 24/7, while not knowing anything about anyone, then ESO isn't your game.


Bots & Co. are not a big issue at ESO, at least compared to WoW. I hardly see any these days, yes I don't play every day but maybe exactly this allows me to analyze the development best.

When the game came out you had many bots everywhere, real trains of bots running from mob to mob. This I don't see anymore at all, ZO has cleaned up a lot and unless they hide in pvp which I won't touch yet, they are just not there anymore in masses.


ESO is a game for older players, not so much for the entitlement generation that needs huge rewards for every moo they do in a game.

It isn't a game you'll be playing for years to come. I say 2-3 months.

If you like MMO and you like single player RPG like Skyrim and Oblivion go for ESO. Its an mix of them so your chance of liking them increases if you like both genre. If you only like wow you will not like it.
Also if you want to rush to max level its not the game for you unless you do this for pvp only.

Most of the bugs has been fixed, still some who has not and some rare who pops up for unlucky players.
Bots are mostly annoying to look at, think graphical glitch. they don't do anything unless you try to farm the same area as you.

If you play the game solo with some grouping and social abilities then it shines. If you want a hardcore pvp only game, then no. IF you like a bit of pvp that is a blast then yes. If you want to group nonstop.. then no. It has a nice crafting side if you like that, but dont expect to make alot of coin from it. nice exploration and some wow moments with graphics. If you like to peruse and try out diff builds and types of gameplay then its great. if any of those appeal to you then youre good to go.

i expect and hope the devs will get the bot issue addressed but in the end, botting only affects you if you want to pvp as it enables the cheaters to get the leet gear, hacked stats and lvls fast, or if you want to craft and sell stuff as the surplus of cheated mats is driving down the prices. it is annoying and immersion breaking tho

to me the game is best when you can empty your saddle bags and then take off in a random direction to loot, explore and quest. hours can go by in that immersion, add in your friends asking if youre ready to run a dungeon or hard area then its all good

I was going to say no, but will say do your research.

I was hoping this game would be really good, and its underwhelming. it has its moments, but overall it's pretty dull. Although I might just be getting out of the MMO genre in general since they're all pretty much the same at their hearts, just different dressings. i just cancelled my sub yesterday, may come back in the distant future, this game needs a lot of love though.

-broken early level quests
-broken vet quests..i know they're fixing them, but same broken ones since beta's.
-confused as to whether it's a single player game with people walking around, or an actual MMO
- bad grouping / phasing system
-voice actors are re-used over and over and don't even try to mask their voice..voices were recorded prior to sprites being created causing a really bad 'disconnect' between the voice, and what you see speaking.
-no replayability, no point in playing other factions since vet ranks play that content.
-The only point to other characters is for other professions.
-Games lore will be severely limiting as to what they will do content wise. Most content will most likely be just some new areas / dungeons / quest lines...
-no public auction house and a foolish guild store system

it tries so hard to bring elder scrolls single player experience to the MMO genre, it doesn't do the best job, but it doesn't fall on its face either.

the game presents itself as this open world go anywhere take any quest MMO, but it's no different than any other. Sure, explore, go where you want at level 10, go get the level 20 quest, but you're not going to be able to complete it just like every other MMO, you need to wait to get to the level to complete it, so don't be fooled there.

the games combat system is fun, but not perfect. PVP has its moments, but people say it gets boring and repetitive.

this game gets just as much right as it does wrong and like most games in the modern world was released about 6 month to early to recoup those development costs.

I don't hate the game, but there is something that's holding it back.

I played Closed and Open as well and totally agree. It's just like most mmos these days with a very generic feel. It's like the Devs tried to combine watered down game facets from several other mmos...including WoW.

Nothing overly exciting, certainly not a WoW killer but still entertaining enough to burn many hours playing it.

If you like doing single player content - questing - then you will like this game. Prior to max level, there is really no grouping to do anything. There is a handful of dungeons you will do one time on the way up to max level, but 95% of your time is spent questing. You can pvp also, and they just jacked up the xp there so maybe it is a viable way to level your toon now.

ESO is the only game I've played since quitting WoW where I think about it when I'm not playing it. I don't even play it very much but I'm always thinking about it and look forward to playing it when the chance arises.

On the other hand, Wildstar hasn't made an impact on me one way or the other. Take it or leave it. It's certainly not revolutionary - nor is ESO for that matter. But ESO has a "spark" that's hard to describe.
