EQ had active GMs on each of their servers and "GM players" who got a free sub and had some of the features as a GM and was able to contact the main GM... They even helped with Lore events.

ESO does have active GM's in the game dealing with bots. I have, on multiple occasions, seen a GM announce to the zone that they were there to kill bots (done in a RPing fashion) and asked people to message them about any suspected bots. So they are working on it.

Well said, being so disgruntled, some info about it, or even a dev comming to reply here would go a long way.
All i get are two screenshots of 2 gms, and the forum post thats been up for i dont know howlong that "theyre working on it", meanwhile in lowlevel zones ...

We do have a ZO reply in this thread, despite there being no need for it.

YOU don't think that was necessary because all you do is white-knighting.

Hey, all. We wanted to pop in to encourage you to keep reporting bots when you see them in-game. Our GMs are working to remove these bots from ESO every day, and your reports are very helpful. In addition, as Game Director Matt Firor recently stated, we are continuing to work on other methods to keep botters and other ToS violators out of ESO. We understand that bots can be frustrating, and appreciate your help in fighting the good fight to remove them from ESO.

I know I'm going to come off as an ***, but when there's hundreds of bots entering a single location (Hollow City, for example) each day alone, at a rate of ~4 seconds per bot, the constant stream of tickets should be a red flag that whatever is going to be implemented it needs to be big, effective, and honestly soon. It's getting beyond ridiculous and embarrassing...

    Exactly !

    Thanks for the reply TristanK.

Create an EB character and I'll invite you to the safari.

    LOTS of wild animals here.

Ive aways quest myself why the bots use names such "jajhahdhshaja" etc. At least its polite from the bot developers no use names like "dragon claw", "sir camelot", [insert players names here] etc, or soon the playerbase would became without names to play...

"Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same ******* thing... over and over again, expecting... **** to change. That... is crazy; but the first time somebody told me that...I dunno, I thought they were bull****ting me, so boom — I shot him. The thing is, okay... He was right. And then I started seeing: everywhere I looked, everywhere I looked, all these ******* *****, everywhere I looked, doing the exact same ******* thing... over and over and over and over again thinking: "This time, it's gonna be different; no, no, no, no, no, please... This time it's gonna be different." ...I am sorry, I don't like the way you are looking at me... Okay, do you have a ******* problem in your head? Do you think I am bull****ting you? Do you think I am lying? **** you! Okay? **** YOU! It's okay, man. I'm gonna chill, hermano. I'm gonna chill... The thing is... alright, the thing is: I killed you once already... and it's not like I am ******* crazy. It's okay... It's like water under the bridge.
Did I ever tell you the definition... of insanity?"

Actually, it CAN Be done in the snap of a finger, how do I know this? Well, I'd like to take a far, far, FAR look back into the past. A "sort" of Mmorpg created by a very small group called "The 4th Coming Online", I think that was the name anyways. Dev's would periodically come into the game and hit people with an item called the "Stupid Stick". This instantly teleported players to a different location (JAIL), removing all their stats to one, so if they tried to escape, or if a monster hit em once, they'd die

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess there are currently more bots in ESO than there were players online in that game.

That, and the described solution does nothing for botting. It's great for punishing stupid players, but it doesn't do anything to a gold-seller, because they just hop on their next stolen account.

Seriously people, how is criminals committing criminal acts news to you?

I have said it many times in other forums for other games....I would gladly be an admin for the game I'm playing! I would do it for free! Would be an honor and a pleasure! I have done admin work before for a FPS multiplayer game. Was really nice to be able to ban those that was cheating or breaking the rules. BUT....could not ban a player without proof of wrong doing. Assuming dose not work when it comes to banning even though you know inside that they are cheating. Gotta be able to prove it with a screen shot or a tool that detects cheating.

I would gladly be a GM and help in the fight against cheaters/gold sellers and would do it for free! I'm retired and have lots of time on my hands. Again I would do it for free and do it on my time. PM me and let me help.

    +1

And I would support this idea.
