OP I appreciate you want for more action bar slots and can say that I would not mind a few more slots as well. However having to pay to open up more UI is something I am against. No one, especially someone paying a sub should have to pay for UI elements of a game, in my opinion.

To sum it up, yes, more slots would be nice. Paying for those slots, no thanks. In fact with paying a sub and if they did implement a pay option to give more slots I'd just walk away from ESO.

Seriously though, seems like not enough abilities... I have a heal, a defensive cooldown, a CC, a taunt and an AoE damage ability, it's sort of meh, I'd really like to have a single target damage thingie in there too and a different defensive cooldown, for different situations (magic / physical). Maybe a debuff ability like low slash as well.

If only the weapon swap would actually work better. Sometimes the swap works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes I double swap because I pressed it a second time after 3 seconds when it didn't seem to do anything... If I set my heal on my second bar and I'm in need of a heal, by the time the swap happens and till the weapon is drawn and all that, I will very likely be dead. Such a shame, really.

sorry but game was developed for consoles, and controllers only have so many buttons so you will never see more skill slots. pc release is just a paid beta phase before the actual release (consoles) hits stores. they know they will never be able to compete with other mmos on the market and keep steady pc subscriptions, so we werent their target audience to begin.

just look at all of the memory leaks and the fact the game doesnt even touch 50% usage on current generation graphics cards, or how about the ridiculous amount of non-optimized files in our eso folder, 30gb of data and 90% of it is uncompressed sound files, why do you think the game doesnt even have shift+key capabilities in keybinds? pc was a total after thought, this game had xbox written on top of the whiteboard on day 1 and unless xbox adds two buttons to their controller doent expect eso to make any changes.

WTB: a WTF/WTH clickie next to the LOL clickie 4 threads like this.

    Price negotiable.

That being said, give it time. Sooner or later I'm sure some elitist will write an AddOn that will give you more hot keys. Some people are already trying to flex their e-peens with DpS meters (Which are irrelevant in ESO and just do nothing but *** people off); so like I said, it's just a matter of time

heres an example, why I dont like consolish disignes... I was in a group yesterday and 1 player died. I went near him and clicked F button to ress him, but the player used a soulstone - during my ress proccess.

Automatically the F button, turned into this consolish *** option menu-thing and I accidently kicked him outside the group! Then I couldnt invite him back during the battle and the player left.

I apologised after, but its zenimax fault. As for the slots, I ve said it many times, a summoner sorc with this 5 spell slots, is very limited, because the pets are unbalanced and ***. Low AI, low damage and many times they dont react. 2 wasted spell slots. So summoners play with 3 spells.

    Its ***.

If the game is designed as stated above, for xbox and consoles in general. The pc population may leave soon or later and I dont see console gamers populating the consolish servers much. People complaining about subs, what about double subs!!! Consoles will have to pay double sub! PC is 3-4 times more population, but with the current game design, they may lose it all. They have to update the PC version, or else its a problem.

edit: I edited some spelling and grammar

making the weapon swap work more efficiently would be nice but more skills isn't going to happen.

i suggest having two keys for swapping maybe? or have the server ignore clicks for a set amount of time. all too often i swap but it does not take so another click goes in only to have the swap happen twice.

some will say it's my connection to blame but that's simply not the case, things like this need to work in all situations not just "ideal"

    edit.
the ability restriction probably has to do with the fact that this game has to played on a console controller as well as keyboard. i'll admit i don't really know why tho

ok, I understand why you want your 500 skill slots. You come from WOW and are used to that kind of crap and have a 32 button mouse. Well some of us don't have a gaming mouse. They are expensive. I can tell you from experience in ESO even how much of a difference a mouse with more than 3 buttons has. I started the game with a regular mouse. It is a hassle to even press 1-5 and then move fingers back to wasd. With a gaming mouse it is infinitely easier. I could slot 4 more abilities on my mouse and support a 9 or 10 skill bar, but I understand and sympathize with players who don't want to spend $80+ on a gaming mouse. Clearly you have money to burn, but most of us do not. We do not want an in game store, there are already vendors. We do not want more skills on our hot bar, that would make the game too easy. It is currently at the perfect difficulty, easy enough to solo most things, but you will still die occasionally. A 10 skill bar would get rid of the L2P style of this game and lead to a "learn to pay(for a gaming mouse)" style. An in game micro purchase store would be horrible! This is a sub game, forget those crappy ideas and think about something that would help the majority of players, not those who are willing to pay $40 more on this game.
since when do you need a gaming mouse to play WoW? i dont think you realize you can bind keys like this? Shift =, alt = x you dont even need a gaming mouse to use all of you 20+ abilitys... lol

I'd pay in-game and maybe even real dollars for additional bars. Not bars that could be changed in combat, but bars I could switch out of combat if I wanted to heal, AoE, tank, DPS, etc. It's kind of annoying to swap out skills right now

Yeah there's an addon that does this but I'd rather have an in-game feature

It's a console game ported to a PC, just like Oblivion and Skyrim before it, and console controllers can't handle any more skills without do waht Square Enix do with their MMOs and using scrollable menus.

In the beginning I was thinking 5 buttons + 1 ultimate was not going to be enough to make the game interesting.

However, I've somewhat changed my mind. It forces you to actually think and create builds that work for different situations. I've been playing TSW in the past and it has a similar approach. You have to switch out skills for different fights and not have everything at hand at all times. In TSW you also had to prepare your skills based on your group members to make good synergies and get important buffs/debuffs (not so much in ESO so far what I've experienced up to lvl 43).

I do not think they should add more skills to the bar. It means you will get too powerful. For me, having just 1 more button would make my character almost invinsible throwing in another heal ability with my existing setup. I think they have probably spent a lot of time balancing around 5 active abilities, and adding more will probably mess up a lot of that balance. I imagine the 5 button approach is also necessary since they are going with a console client...

I guess it is up to preference, if you like games where you have to think, prepare and adapt to fights, or if you like games like WoW/SWTOR where you have 30 buttons available at all times and just have to hit the right ones (if there are enough keys on your keyboard).

    Concerning the "overlaying" key binds...

It make since to my eye hand coordination (if you have to ask why, of course I'll blame it on the Skooma :p ) seeing how we pretty much stay on one spot to use or it "breaks spell" and a good majority of those situations I feel at ease being able to lift my hand to a different portion of my keyboard for a moment or two.

    Sorry for my babbling.

As for adding more functions... I, for one, would prefer they do not go that route. There's been times where I've had my teeth slapped out of my head and had the mob hand them back to me just to slap them out again; and believe you me, I've had my fair share of nerdrage(s) but in all honesty I kinda like it; and I'll admit I see myself more of an ESO "type" playstyle gamer than the MMO "type" playstyle gamer. It tells me that there is a need for improvement to adapt and overcome on my part given with what the Devs gave us to play with. This is their creation after all, is it not?

This is one of the worst ideas I've ever read on these forums. I'd like extra slots, I think 8 skills and an ultimate is good, but reducing the game to pay to win is simply not an option.

How about you complete all the Mage's guild quests and it opens up the opportunity to buy a slot for 100k gold? Same for fighter's guild etc?
  • djwolfnrb19_ESO
I'm with Eris on this and to claim that since most people on this thread disagree with him then the majority of players also disagree is pure nonsense. For example, I began playing this game with my sister and five friends who were all excited for months about the new Elder Scrolls addition. We all signed on for the Beta but after a few hours with this combat system none of my five friends were interested and decided not to subscribe. A game that was touted as being the best thing since sliced bread is not doing well in the reviews and a large part of that is the FPS keyboard controls for an MMO - it lost a lot of the MMO market and no I've never played WOW either.

What angers me about the rubbish that has accumulated in this thread are the unfounded assumptions. I agree that increasing the number of ability slots would require a massive game rebalance which is why I see the futility of even asking for it. However, since an MMO requires long term subscriptions to be viable reducing what we can do at any given moment doesn't seem to be long term thinking and will lead most players to cardboard cutout playstyles and boredom.

Secondary key bind to the Numeric Keypad...(Haven't seen a keyboard without one in some time).

It does require you to briefly take your hand off the mouse for a split second, but allows you to continue to WASD to dodge/move in the meantime.
