Doshia is really making me angry

I don't mean this to be a QQ post, but I'm really frustrated and hoping I can get some insight.

I got to Doshia with a L8 Templar and couldn't even come CLOSE to defeating her. After I tried until my gear was completely broken, I decided I must have built my character wrong because he was just too weak. I researched some builds and made another Templar. Haven't gotten back there with her yet, so we'll see.

However, I got to her with a L11 Dragon Knight that I know was built pretty decently. I have a lot of health (intended to be a tank), what I believe are the right skills for where I am in the game (Razor Armor, Choking Talons, that Earthy-hammer knockdown, etc.). Again, not a chance!

I read forum posts (here and other sites) about her, and asked in /zone. People keep saying to kill the orbs before they get to her and heal her. I never saw any orbs, but I did notice her getting healed up while I kept dying...then I saw a video on YouTube demonstrating the fight.

Watching that video, I can barely see the orbs. They're very translucent. I'M COLORBLIND. I haven't seen any colorblind video options to help me see things better. How am I supposed to get this done? Usually in an MMO, when I need help with something (either because of my disability or because I suck) I can bring a friend to help. This is a forced-solo instance.

Silver bolt from the fighters guild skill lines is very handy in this fight, as well as using AOE skills on her which take out the orbs as they get close to her and heal you instead.

That is an interesting dilemma. I don't think I've ever seen any mainstream games built with colorblindness in mind (bearing in mind that color blindness comes in many flavors).

You have two options that I can think of:
    * Outlevel the content, come back when you're like level 15-20.
    * Focus on burst DPS. Watch a video on her to see her behavior when she summons orbs. Wear her down, and when you see that behavior in-game, do as much burst DPS as you can to her. It may take a few tries.

I finished this fight at level 9 doing the latter, I couldn't be bothered to kill the orbs. I circled around her throughout the fight and took almost no damage thanks to avoiding her spells, and when she summoned the orbs I emptied my entire mana/stamina bars on her. Easy kill.

Stick close to her, interrupt her EVERY time you see her channelling, when you hear the 'gong' sound start circling her to get the orbs or spam AOEs. If you have problems with colours, try playing with contrast and gamma to see if the orbs become more visible

    That's not a bad idea.

Also, you could use SweetFX+RadeonPro to make invasive changes to the graphics. You can do anything from changing the color saturation, to the sharpness, to changing the actual colors displayed in-game.

There's a guide on SweetFX setup and some presets available here: http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/game/467/

There was also a bug for a while where the orbs were not appearing for some people, so you may have had that issue as well. Hopefully that is taken care of.

I don't even know how you would do it if you cant see the orb. I guess aoe like someone suggested. Since the orbs move slowly towards her. I would aoe on her then count to 2-3 and then do it again a couple times. The orbs do heal you when you break them so as long as you get 1-2 you can basically stay in the fight forever, even if she isn't dying.

On the down side, im only level 38 and i can think of 2 other places where the boss mob was the same sort of snake/orb fight. Although i dont think they were forced solo fights.

I have found on those harvestor mobs I either need to nuke them hard with lots of DPS (my Nightblade and Sorc) or kill the orbs and just whittle them down on a tank type (like a sword and board DK and Templar).

On a pure DPS setup they usually do not live long enough to cast many (or any) orbs.

Using a tank to fight them seems harder, because there is more time to make a mistake like missing some orbs and letting the harvestor heal, or getting grabbed and drained of health. I usually end up using ranged spells and a bow but it was not fun.

And if you cannot see the orbs well enough to kill them and do not have enough burst DPS to kill quick, the fight will last forever, or until you get killed.

If adjusting graphics does not help (and it probably will not), you may just have to come back overleveled or change to a high DPS setup.

I am partially color blind too, but not in the colors the orbs are.

Yea she's a daedra so you get the knockdown. You can also morph it so it hits 2 other targets (to help with the orbs).

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'm going to try to burst her down (I've seen people say they can kill her before she transforms). I don't think Silver Bolt is much of an option for me unless I come back MUCH later. The only skill I have from Fighter's Guild so far is Intimidating Presence.

One other option, At the time I was running my Templar with Sun Bolts (may be the wrong name), Soul Trap and Restro Staff damage (with poison damage)..... Almost no DPS to speak of and this was before the Dosia nerf. Ther was no way I could take out the orbs DPS was so slow. As noted above I went for the kiting method depending on the Restro damage (especially the poison DoT) and keep healing my self. Long fight but got it done.

As you cannot see the orbs if you kite look for the longest track you can to run. Not to fast or the Orbs will cut across the room versus following her.

A better solution though may be to see if you can change the video card settings or in game graphics. The Catalyst program for my ATI card allows for a lot of saturation, color editing. This will not be the only boss where the Orbs will appear. So a long term solution will be required.

It's actually fairly easy to grind up to get Silver Bolts, just run around the cave squishing scamps. Even better, head over to Cheesmonger Hollow (Gutsy's lair), there're tons of spawns there. If you can, level it up to the morph and pick Silver Shards. Hits two other targets for 50% damage. Fire that thing at Doshia twice (takes about 3 seconds) and goodbye orbs.

If not though, as said, burst DPS can wipe her before the first round of orbs even touches her. Did it myself with a couple blue axes at l9, but that was with Bolts and Stonefist. Poor girl never even got two hits in.

They also changed the fight recently. What used to be multiple orbs in the video you saw should now be a single, larger and much more solider looking orb.

Yeah, I got completely trashed by Doshia many times, and then just came back at ~lvl12 and used silver bolts for the knockdown effect. I killed her before she even transformed, as NB has a few good nukes.

Really? I should take another character to see her. I literally just rushed her against the wall with 2h melee attacks, (as lvl10 Templar). I was only seeing a single orb, which I still failed to hit even with the 2h splash damage passive. She was only getting healed for a little bit, so I thought that was part of the nerf.

New thought, is it possible the orbs can't materialize near walls? I'll check it out later tonight.

Review this video - this does work.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WNb0qv6De_M

The author @Hawke shows that the basic combat techniques can be used to defeat her (and other Bosses). Block/Interrupt is very important in combat. You can't just rely on your skill bar.

I have been making more use of basic block/interrupt since I saw this video. This has allowed me to make use of my skill bar more effectively. When the resource pool is low, basic block/interrupt gives the pools time to refill. I get to chose when I use a skill that interrupts rather than hoping the pool will refill enough again before I die.

My problem was that on a few characters I never saw the orbs till they were about to impact Doshia which of course returns full health. Then I discovered that if I stand in certain areas the globs seem to clip out. I started rushing in for an attack, taking down health then backing off to the back wall, when the orbs spawned I rushed back in the take them out then finish off Doshia. Doshia hasn't been a problem with any of my characters since.

sidenote: the clipping didn't happen with all my characters. There were a few chest in the world that would clip out for me as well but think I read in patch notes they were address. Of course knowing me as I do that might not be so...lol

This one boss has benched more than one character for me permanently. The real trick to her seems to be having fast firing attacks and the ability to block/interupt. The issue I had with her was always when I was using a staff based character or 2hander. Silver bolts does work great, but it takes two bolts per orb and if your not stamina based....
Ironically I just made my first nightblade the other night and beat this boss at a much lower level than the 2 or 3 toons that failed 100% of the time. I cant remember for sure but I think level 6? Having a fast hard hitting attack, or an AOE with a decent amount of range makes it a cakewalk. Or just enough stamina to use silverbolts and still be able to block/interupt.

The other thing this reminds me of is the fact the first set of group dungeons are far harder than the next 3 or 4 sets. I thought it was just a matter of getting better at my toon, but me and a few friends ran our alts through them and found it only slightly easier the second time through.

Stand close to her she will do three things, sends out ground ghosts in a cone type attack, sucks you in and drops you to approx. 25% health, and summons orbs. Get in melee range and attack her. She will start to cast and you interrupt. Beat on her some more and you get sucked in. After that turn and look for the 4 orbs don't panic about your health the orbs will return your health. The way to measure if you are ready to kill her or not is based on how fast you can kill the orbs. If you cant kill each one in 2 attacks or under you will have a very tough time killing her. If you kill all the orbs go back to beating on her and its a rinse repeat fight. hope this helps and hope you get her down. I know you are having trouble seeing the orbs but since you now know they come after she sucks you in just immediately start looking if you can get atleast three of the orbs you should still be in good shape the fight will just take a bit longer

@JBerkleyJr - Oh boy, I missed the color blind in the OP also.

I found this on google awhile back. Midways in the discussion there is a mention of "change the color spectrum in the nVidia control panel".
