Official Companion App?

Ok to start off i apologize if this is in the wrong section but I fell it applies to many sections so just went random.

Now I hate that the moment a new MMO comes out every aspect of it is scrutinized against WOW but this time I am going to use WOW as an example as I think they hit the nail on the head when it came to companion apps.

Anyway I think a companion app for this game could be a great addition for several reasons that I can see and I am more than confident you guys will come up with many more.

Guild Stuff
Communicating with my guild when I am out or at work can be difficult as the only way is the use of third party site like forums etc but this makes it more of a hassle for members currently in-game who would rather use the chat, so access to guild chat would be handy.

Access to Crafting?
This one I am not sure how it would work but a way to acces crafting outside the game would be handy for research due to the long times it takes. So if I start a research that would 6 hours and I know it will be complete when say I am at work it would be nice to be able to start the research for the next item from my phone.

Attributes & Skills
Sometimes when I am at work or at college a good idea for an action bar set up etc comes to me and it could be cool to just whip out my phone and start changing my characters skills around or assigning skill points and attribute points there and then.

So these are the few ideas i could muster but like I said there is many other options that I think could make a Companion app a viable option. If you leave ideas below i will try add them into this post for easier viewing. Anyway Discuss away!

Why do you need to talk to people in the game when you are not?
Sorry, but why do you need to chat to them?
Everything else flows from this.

Would be nice, but I think it would open the servers to hackers and viruses, you know because a lot of people don't have antivirus software on their smartphones. They basically want the servers as secure as possible.

This idea has been suggested before and a lot of people want it, but I really doubt ZOS are going to weaken the games defenses for us to research traits via smartphone.

Either get an app that can store notes, or get a paper and pen. This is worse for security than the researching of traits, at least with traits they could lock it down to that one part of the game, this affects so much more, it won't happen.

The ability to add/remove stuff from you bank would be amazing. I hate paying money to fast travel just to store stuff

lets just be able to play the game first. Otherwise a companion app to a game that isn't playable is pointless.

A companion app to manage the character is a great idea. It would also be nice to see what you have researched for crafting when trying to decide if you want to deconstruct or not.

Companion app would be brilliant, especially for those on console. If Dice could do it with BF4, I'm sure ZOS could figure it out.

@AlexDougherty I talk to guild mates outside the game for a variety of reasons, although being able to chat to everyone and not just certain ones would be better.

• reminding people of meetings/meet-ups/event
• Looking to group up later (plan a set time rather than log on and wait for 30 minutes to find people and everyone get ready)
• Answer peoples questions faster (Especially handy if you are an officer/guildmaster)

I think the extent of crafting would be to the trait research, and I would hope the limitation of the item being on your character or in the bank should still apply.

Being able to mess around with my build out of the game would be super handy!

Yeah , sounds like something I'd use. The idea of having more than just an Armory clone really sounds appealling. Great idea.

I'm a security engineer and can say that a mobile client is no different than a PC client. All the security is done server side, so there's no security reason that would prevent this.

ESO Toolkit by dpb contains a set of small utilities to make your life easier while playing the game:
* A crafting simulator with all weapons and armor.
* Trait Management: Keep track of your traits.

Have you looked at the 3rd party ones? ESO Skills hasn't been updated since IC, but it's still good, and ESO Toolbox is very, very good for all the general knowledge.

I think Crafting should be available but should require log-out in a town to access. This would prevent people from logging out in a dungeon JUST to craft on their phone.

Resurrect the thread! Good job, I'd love an app to chat on console through my phone (current PS4 setup still requires opening the UI chat box in game). Console typing is just brutal.

I would love a companion app!
It would be amazing if it had a character viewer, can show off your main and all your cool alts
Also have an automatic mount trainer perhaps?

Truly not needed.

Communication with guild members - get a discord server which is free. Great for guilds to communicate and can be accessed from PC and phones.

Crafting - most crafting is done and special stations of which we would not (certainly should not) have access unless we traveled to those stations.

Changing attibute points requires going to a special location and which the app would not be able to move out characters. Really not that big a deal and since the offer two points are either not workable or have a great work around then there is no reason to really consider this third point.
