Seeing as Todays Patch, "FAILED"

adamrobertfarmer
Seeing as todays patch failed, for whatever "unforeseen" reasons, can we get some sort of information about when the next sudden and unexpected six hour downtime might be for when you roll out the patch?

Will it be Friday at the next "Scheduled maintenance" or will it suddenly pop up at 7pm GMT?

I know that this thread will get trolled immediately but I feel that it is a fair question. To CS could you respond with any info you have, even if there is no info, but please just tell us that, and don't just close the thread without any explanation which seems to be your only purpose here.

Cheers

By "will get trolled" immediately, do you mean people will disagree? That's not trolling. That's disagreeing.

Trolling is posting something provocative, stupid, or just annoying, in the hope of drumming up reaction or irritating people.

In this case, asking to be told the time of the "next sudden and unexpected six hour downtime" seems a bit silly and actually might be considered closer to trolling then the responses you predict.

It's sarcasm, really. Justified or not is for every individual to decide, but I sincerely hope we will not start equating sarcasm and trolling. I would have to severely limit my input on this forum. :)
  • adamrobertfarmer
Sarcasm not your best skill then obviously.

The posts you have made are what I was referring to.

I asked about whether they would be using the next downtime to patch the game or would they without warning take the server down to do it, this is sudden and unexpected to the players when they only get half an hours notice, It is not sudden and unexpected to the developers.

No I did not mean disagreeing with me, because nothing in my op can be agreed with or disagreed with because I was not making any points merely asking for information.

Sarcasm is fine. Love sarcasm. Trolling is not so fine, but I don't mind it, really. What I do mind is everyone who's point is disagreed with accusing the person not agreeing with them of being a troll. I hate the way that word is so water downed now, it's becoming just a generic thing to accuse legitimate, sincere commenters of doing.

Disagree (in terms of forums) means to have a difference of opinion on a subject or topic of discussion.

Troll (in terms of forums) means to present a negative position on a subject for no other reason than to cause a negative effect and disruption.

Sadly, people don't really understand the difference between the two terms and use them interchangeably.

Oh, and on the subject of maintenance, I would bet tomorrow morning... but it could be delayed as far as Friday if they don't figure out what it was that went wrong.

Also, to the OP, unnecessary quotes and separation of the word "FAILED" is actually trolling in the first place. Perhaps you should consider if your intention was to ask a question or to create conflict or drama.

A title of "When might we expect the next maintenance" might have been a better choice than yours.

Todays patch failed? I thought it was maintenance, I am confused. Why did they take the US servers down if the "patch" failed in EU...I am confused even more.

Eris, not in the slightest. Using quotation is not trolling for Christ's sake, I was using the information they have given us.

I won't ask questions in the future. Nice community here on the customer support forum where people come to ask questions.

NA servers didn't go offline. They had the countdown to shutdown but didn't shutdown.

I really don't care when the next patch is or how long it takes. I have seen that ZOS is trying to fix things as they come up. And if unexpected and prolonged patch days is what it takes... then so be it. I can wait. I have other things I can do in my life.

Things happen stuff breaks, you fix one thing and break another... These threads are a waste of ZOS valuable time.. Not constructive at all...

Read your topic out loud, now, read the first 5 words of your post out loud, now say "When can we expect the next maintenance?" out loud. Which of those was a question, and which were statements?

You have to have known that you were intending to create drama, because you said in your third paragraph that you were expecting to be trolled. You can easily ask a question that nobody will troll in this fashion.

    Title: Question about maintenance?

Body: Hi, since this morning's maintenance was canceled, when do you think they'll be making it up? Or, do you think that they will be delaying the patch to Friday's regular maintenance?

    Optional ending: Thanks in advance

Do you see the difference? It is not that the community is bad, it is that some people on the Internet are tired of uncivility.

There was nothing openly hostile about my question, it may have been worded in a way that you people disagree with but it was a valid question. Which has still not been answered naturally.

Your point would also have more traction if there were not countless threads here that are worded perfectly even according to the lovely saccharine template that Eris offered and have still been jumped on by the community.

Um, I actually did answer your question in my first post on this very forum.

That you decided to take exception to the last two paragraphs didn't change the fact you got the answer you were looking for, and the best answer you're going to get from any non-ZOS member of the community. ZOS will not answer your thread because until they post an official time, they cannot provide any answer at all.

It's a bit recursive to link to the same topic, but here is the URL of my post to decrease research time: here

Posting in a another pointless scheduled maintenance thread. I'm just going to keep copy and pasting my response every week.

    Complain about bugs
They take the servers offline to fix bugs
Complain about server being offline to fix the bugs
Complain when ZOS doesn't respond to a thread/question regarding predicting the servers will magically go offline again during Friday night prime time.
Complain when the community "gets hostile" toward a another POINTLESS thread about maintenance and/or BOTs.

    Rinse and Repeat

You seem to have all your negative opinions on zos right there on the table for everyone to see. People are seeing them and commenting. It's kinda your fault. I still think the saccharin route would have avoided the last 15replies or so

For the final time I am not complaining about maintenance I am asking if there will be additional maintenance because of the patch problems or whether we are still on for Friday as usual.

Read before you copy and post okay?

@adamrobertfarmer‌ I don't think its unreasonable to ask your question. Its actually a pretty good question I think. I would like to know the answer as well.

However, when you say things like, "I'm sure I will be trolled.", the trolls tend to see that as an open invitation to troll you because you've already indicated that they annoy or bother you.

Best thing to do is ask your question and ignore the responses that are just trying to get a reaction out of you. Never acknowledge a troll, it only serves to validate them in their own mind.

They will probably tell us once they know. The patch had a problem and they will likely have to assess the problem first then fix it and test again. I'm not aware of any hot fixes (exploits or duplication) unless it's that vrx too much exp on the boss adds. If that was the thing they were going to fix then it may come early. Exception that I can't see any reason they would patch before Friday.
