Honestly the vr quest grind has turned me off of the game also.
I was pretty excited for the game and played hard but you just burn out 2 quick trying to hit v10.
I got to v6 on my first character before getting sick of doing the same thing overe and over.
Re-rolled and am back to lvl 45 again, i honestly dont think i can bring myself to do the 2 other factions quests again.
They should have left the cap at 50 and made craglorn v1-2 imo.
The vr grind is just trash =/

I expect to quit before Vr10. Am currently Vr4.

Some quests are good, some ok.
But the grind is tedious & not fun.

My mates are starting to break, I expect I will follow.
Love the Pvp, but the post 50 content is rubbish & being forced to do it unacceptable.

Can't see myself paying for this shi.te.

My only gripe is that the VR grind kills any hope for rolling an alt.

The grind is huge, and I'll have done all the quests in the game so there's literally no fresh content for your alt to go through.

If they're gonna do that at least they should allow you to switch classes on a cooldown or something, or increase xp gain by a lot for alts once you've finished VR on your main.

no endgame, nothing, nada, sip, zero, Veteran 10 here, and i have nothing to do now ...
people here will say go PvP, and i will say yea done that, form small scale warfare to large scale warfare or Zerg vs Zerg, and that fun right??? no its not the servers are still in US and we got horrible spike lags at random times, one zerg on zerg can go fine then 7 min later another zerg on zerg are with 2 sec spike lags every 5 sec. yea we like this... or NOT!!!

some will say go try your luck in the 6 vet dungeons yea done that they are not hard, they are easy, fun the first 2 times but then blah nothing, and the loot? heh the loot in there is a joke over what you can craft yourself. so im left to mine, harvest and chop wood to get my mats to get the best gear and wait for the Raid that should have been here at release, like the said 3 month ago a 24 man raid but now we wait for a 12 man raid... yea maybe i should come back in 3 month time when there is some endgame i can play ? ohh yea that right Wildstar will be out by then with 20 and 40 man raids.. epic fail Zenimax and you know it! SWTOR all over again :(

im laughing myself silly right now.
    Gotta love rushers.
get v10 asap !!! Stoopid game, now im max level the game hardly got released and i have nothing to do, cry moan, lol.

There are faster ways than questing. But I agree, V1-10 are extremely long.
    I suggest these changes:
    - Double mob kills all over.
    - Let dungeons reward every run.
    - Triple XP earned in PVP.

Leave quests to those who love them after V1, and that Caldwell Almanac endless quest requirement - dump it!

It takes literally no time at all to make veteran 10 if you play regularly. I've already got 2 chars there, and I work a full time job Mon-Friday and go to church on Sunday.

It's not rushing, it's just playing the game. I listen to every quest dialogue and read all the things I can too, to know the stories. Which is frustrating because when describing a quest story to other people who don't they're just like "What quest..huh?"

300+ hours (as you say you read everything) is "literally no time at all"?

I'm doing every single quest in every zone, getting every achievement and skyshard. I bet it's over 300 hours easily.

I know it takes me over half a day of playtime to complete a single zone in VR so I don't know what he's talking about when he says VR10 doesn't take time. VR1-10 grind is easily a month of playtime for an average player.

    Hello guys,

have u reached max lvl? and are u glad that u are finally 50? I bet u do. From lvl 50 there are those VR ranks, that sounds cool right?. But after a while it is not that great anymore, after u reach VR3 at least for me. Its just a damn endless grind doing quest quest quest quest, ye quest are the fastest way atm to lvl VR . I just feel so burned out, it is worst then playing AION BETA back then on the KOREAN server..VR dungeons only rewards u the first time, when u finish those because of the quest. A second time it is just waist of time and not rewarding VR XP wise at all.

Do u guys have the same feeling, that there is no variation at all and just a endless grind for nothing till Craglorn hits?

Thing is you see VR10 as endgame, while lvl 50 = endgame..
You should see the VR levels as the prestige levels in CoD/BF3

You can do almost everything by VR1, and if you really wanna do it fast.. It can be rather fast :)

Id be cool with this if for say the only way to raise your vr ranks was by PvP or Dungeons or ect, something challenging. Perhaps similar to RR in DAoC. But having just an endless spew of repetitive quests is miserable. Even if they left the level cap at 50 and made v1-2 Craglorn that would have been awesome. I went ahead and canceled my sub the other day because i cant stand doing the other 2 factions quests. Im sure a lot of people have done the same here.

If you think presentation is bad in TESO, just wait for Wildstar where random almost unreadable small windows pop up all over your screen is the quest interface or interaction. And literally all quests are "get me 10 bear asses from over there because I said so". And dungeons have what people call "disco mode". Which means there's flickering lightshow everyhwere due to telegraph effects what is the main mode of them and you need to find the spot where to stand and blindly hit random keys until the one single ability that is actually meaningful for your class comes off cooldown.

Wildstar is horribly bland in leveling and questing but people seem to like the dungeon/endgame stuff so I guess those that really live the "race to endgame and ignore everything on the way there" might be better accommodated. Maybe. Everyone need to evaluate that for themselves in the end.

Wildstar looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too cartoonish for me. I can only imagine they're going after the soon to be ex-WOW crowd?

I dont see slow Vet ranks as problem.

Veteran ranks were great idea, but i feel Zenimax failed to implement them in a way where they meant something. Reaching Vet10 should take much longer time, years maybe, and include clearing content that hasnt been released yet.

Today, when i see Vet10, i just *meh*. I feel its nothing special.

Im not trying to be rude, but I dont see hoe thats possible. I have been playing as much as possible since head start (when work and other RL things allow, but its still a LOT of time in game) and the only character I play is only VR4, and im skipping a lot of dialog because theres just too much of it, it gets boring to listen to. Im leveling by questing, skipped dungeons, I get every single skyshard and try to complete all area bosses and dolmens.

You may have 2 VR10's, but you didnt get them there with just questing. If by some chance you did, my hats off to you, because I dont see how what youre saying is even remotely possible.

I also agree with Yake82, they should have made veteran ranks more meaningful. I would have liked to see them as non mandatory (so those crybabies who hate it dont have to do it), but take MUCH longer and require a lot more time to earn. The fact that there were VR10s in the first week takes away anything special about it.

    1) An ellipsis has neither precedent or antecedent punctuation unless it is within a set of quotation marks.

    2) Most people you know, most people you've interviewed in a study you conducted, or most people that play single player games? Please clarify. From my experience in MMO's, I believe many people either have access to voice chat or can easily gain access to it; with most people having used it at least once in the past.

Eh what are you expecting to happen at VR10? There isn't a magic happy wonderland opening up at VR10 and thus you must get there as fast as possible.

VR is an alternate leveling system, it's something that happens alongside whatever it is you do. If quests aren't interesting for you and I bet there are a lot of people that look at them like a hindrance instead of the core of the game and are just chasing arrows then go and do some pvp. Or vet dungeons. Or chase rare epic crafting stuff. You'll level VRs alongside.

Stop believing there's something special at VR10 or that the "game starts only at VR10". This isn't WoW where quests are meaningless trivialities and nothing during leveling has any value at all and interesting things only happen at the very end of the leveling curve. But if you play it the same way you'll be disappointed at VR10. Nothing is fundamentally different at VR10 than at VR5 or VR3 or VR1 in TESO! You need to find out what is fun in this game for you right now. Nobody is going to give you fun-thing(tm) at VR10 that is only available there.

But the Children of WoW aren't use to MMO's where there is a reason to explore areas beyond where a quest sends you, and it doesn't help that there aren't that many MMO's where exploring has benefits. They are use to hyper clicking through quest dialog and going where the arrow points and killing 10 wild boars or something.

Its not going to change anytime soon. WoW in its later days has corrupted people to believe everything should be quickly obtained and there is nothing but the max-level end-game.

I'm tired of all these quests, especially the ones that require you to kill a bunch of mobs because I get a whopping 42VP per kill, and it feels like I'm being forced to waste my time. The main story ended at level 50 so the re-hashed VR content isn't nearly as interesting, yet it takes 5 times longer to progress. Cyrodill is fun, but it takes even longer to level there... I still like playing this game, I just hope they can improve the overall experience for VR players because I'm getting a little burnt out with the quests.

    My 2 cents:

    1. Gear will not make you awesome at this game, if you are not using your brain you will die to someone 20 levels lower. (See me and my 2 mates wiping 20+ open field just by being smart, not using overpowered ults)
    2. I must be getting old because it took me roughly 3.5 weeks to get Vr10, it took me roughly 10months to get 50 in Daoc. Stop with this endgame garbage, have fun.
    3. My 2 mates have gotten to Vr5 just off RvR so far. You have options, and stop its not a grind, there is no omg its so amazing at Vr10..its just a tiny boost.

OTOH, how many places on the map in WoW have actually just been 'explore' space? It seems like every nook and cranny in WoW is devoted to one quest or another. Or a daily. Or once was, but the quests were taken out, or the impact lessened (like taking the mines in AV...)

ESO has lots of 'wide open' space. No particular quests assigned, just an achievement, a bonus (ie: skyshard), and loot which usually ends up on the research / deconstruct line.

When did Time consuming = to maningfull, dificult and chalenging?

Because I tell you what My Shield bashing lightarmor vampire caster sorc isn't finding the Vr lvls very chalenging or meaningfull, in fact I do what I did exactly from 1-50 Block and Bash my way to victory and I still impulse spam with critsurge so i'm always 100%hp on aoe packs.

I am finding it very time consuming and bored out my mind with all this questing, try to pvp from time to time, then I look at my exp bar...
Bam you just wasted 2 hours where you could have been actualy lvling...

But it's so boring can't I just at least grind mobs?!
No you will try avoid most of the mobs because they give no XP and are actualy slowing your lvling, instead you will bolt escape, mist form, stealth your way to quest objectives and be done with it!

Thank god for the dungeons, world bosses, dolmens to take a break from questing (Oh wait those are 1 time deals, do them once and never again)

And ppl are actualy telling me 1.1 will fix it because they are doubling Kill's Xp and Mobs XP, well guess what double of 42 is 84 in a pool of over 2 million that means I now only need over 23k mob kills for 1 lvl instead of the now 46k, how nice of them!

Let me see if I understand this. You are using an exploit of a broken mechanic combination that trivializes the content. And then you complain about the content being boring because you trivialize it?

How the *** is Shield Bash or Impulse exploiting?
    How is using stealth exploiting?

And more importantly, how should it be more fun if he used 1 of the 100 underpowered Skills, it would just take even longer or become impossible.

P.S.: The term exploiting is used way too much on these forums, if you use it for everything it becomes meaningless.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploit_(video_gaming)
Using skills that are in one way or the other not perfectly balanced can not be considered exploiting by any stretch of imagination.

I apologize if this hasn't been mentioned before as I tend to see the tone of the thread and skim to the last page. But the vr levels are there for you to get gold and items. Mainly the items are there for you to have the ability to deconstruct and/or research the traits. And let us not forget about the skyshards and SKILL POINTS!

I recently helped a fresh vr 1, she had only minutes before defeated Molag Bal, and within 2 hours she was vr2. She did not accept a single vr1 quest. The two of us killed every world boss, dolmen, and public dungeon up into vr 3 zones. Now she is vr4 and completing vr2 quest lines.

Moral of that story? This is a MMO. If you wish to solo (I am mainly a solo player btw) then know that your leveling process will be longer in the veteran ranks unless you are clever.

Here is my advice to you: once you enter a new zone look for a group that will kill all world bosses, dolmens, and public dungeons within that zone. That is 1/2 a vet rank right there. Ideally have someone run you through vet 1-5 zones and kill all of the above and you will be close to rank 3.

    Level smart - not hard....
