You kids and your MyPods and I-Space... you all want it now. Back in my day in real MMO's it used to take 6 months to a year to get a max level character and even then you weren't really done leveling. God would hate to see the reaction of you kids if an MMO ever started an epic weapon quests like in the days of EQ

We're not kids anymore, I wouldn't have time to waste on something like L2 nowadays. Would you? With a job, a family, other interests?
Ill sell them all for my class Epic.

I think most of the complaining is that there's currently only one path to leveling at VR. That is questing. We can't PvP, dungeon crawl, or really grind on mobs for vp. There's nothing that we can do to break the bordem of grind quest after quest. I think that last time I looked I had almost 400 quests done and I'm still VR3.

Anyone ever played Halo? It's like that, remember when you had to go back the way you came, basically just going through the same zone, but from a different angle. It's like that. I personally don't like vet ranks, i think 50 should of been a bit longer to get, and that's it. You want to play the DC or EP campaign? Roll DC or EP, but then i also don't like any race in any alliance, but waddayagunnado.

But they have extended the campaign time, by making everyzone a vet lvl (or near enough) and reusing the lands. Quiet clever, and will get people playing for quite a while as they go through the classes/races.

I personally feel it's quite cheap and lazy, but it works. I think they are just going to focus on new content, instead of trying to modify the existing, hence craglorn, and other stuff they are going to bring out. I mean they have us lvling skills once we morph them, that tells us that they probably plan to release new 'morphs'. Another lvl of depth to the game.
  • thomas.manzellaub17_ESO
You didn't mention that nothing is new in VR. For somebody who played all 3 factions to 20ish in beta, VR ranks are a huge kick in the nuts.

Hey, come do all the *** you've already done but be 10 times slower about it and get very minuscule rewards for doing it.

@thomas.manzellaub17_ESO Are you trying to claim that VR zones only reach 20sh because if there is 'nothing new' to them and you made it to lvl 20 on each then by that logic they end at lvl 20 zones.

The idea of VR is that they can increase the VR rank later on while not actually having a huge power creep that happens in most games (can we say WoW?). They will not have to give you 10 extra real levels in game to convince you to run the expansion or create newer items better than legendary (like GW2 did) to get you to continue. All they have to do is bump up VR rank by a few, knowing it will take you a while to level those, and increase the stats on the weapons by a few points and be done. Must better policy than having to create 5-10 new levels for a char and giving you more power in each of the lines because of it.

funny, the reason I am VR2 is because of my fiance and friends. If she wasn't constantly asking me to get on and run with her and they weren't always wanting to get on too then I would probably only play half as much or even a third as much as I do right now.

Its ok the first 50 lvls was easy to get, but vet renks is still WAY to easy to lvl.
Vet should be ALOT hardere to get, so they feel more special.

I went into the first public dungeon in the VR1 area and just killing random trash gave me half a level in 2-3 hours. Its sickening how fast you can get to VR10 by not even really playing the game...

Yet people still b!%@# that it takes too long....

I enjoyed my way to 50 and wanted to dive into pvp and smash face.
***But then i noticed V10's farming groups*** of 50 people and loged out disapointed...

May I respectfully ask how you think those V10 players got to where they are?

For those who feel the same - have you never played PvP in other mmo's? It is the vets who deserve to smash face. You, too, can become a vet. It takes a bit, it takes giving the time and dedication. But if that is what your goal is to attain 'fun' then that is what you must do: find a/the way to earn player points and exp and get the gear (and more skills along the way) in order to stand amongst your earned- it- to- get- there PvP brethern and sisterns ^-^

There are other choices of playstyles of course: crafting, where you must also put in the time and learn a bit to max it and become a master crafter, exploration/achievements, dungeon completion, etc.

MMO=mixing it up with other humans and giving/making/taking/dedicating your allowance of 'time' into the areas of the game YOU find it worth EARNING.

    Good journeys!

    Incorrect.
The VR dungeons can drop weapons with enchantments roughly twice as strong as the top tier Lenegedary player crafted ones.
(I have a VR10 bow with ~ +84 fire damage, a VR10 player crafted lengendary rune adds +47 fire damage).
I also have two 1handed swords with similar (a fire and shock one).

    Are the items "Infused"?

No. The sword I have has "defending" (Increased armor/spell resistance)

Infused also only increases enchhts like 5-25%, not 100%. And it doesn't appear to be reflected in the tooltip itself.

I'll post some screenies if interest.

If you want to take the difficult route to advancing your VR levels, do so by only completing quests in Cyrodiil. You need to complete roughly 450 quests, give or take a few, in order to advance from one VR level to the next via Cyrodiil quests. If that is not earning your VR level in the most time consuming way possible, then I definitely do not even want to attempt a longer method.

When did Time consuming = to maningfull, dificult and chalenging?

Because I tell you what My Shield bashing lightarmor vampire caster sorc isn't finding the Vr lvls very chalenging or meaningfull, in fact I do what I did exactly from 1-50 Block and Bash my way to victory and I still impulse spam with critsurge so i'm always 100%hp on aoe packs.

I am finding it very time consuming and bored out my mind with all this questing, try to pvp from time to time, then I look at my exp bar...
Bam you just wasted 2 hours where you could have been actualy lvling...

But it's so boring can't I just at least grind mobs?!
No you will try avoid most of the mobs because they give no XP and are actualy slowing your lvling, instead you will bolt escape, mist form, stealth your way to quest objectives and be done with it!

Thank god for the dungeons, world bosses, dolmens to take a break from questing (Oh wait those are 1 time deals, do them once and never again)

And ppl are actualy telling me 1.1 will fix it because they are doubling Kill's Xp and Mobs XP, well guess what double of 42 is 84 in a pool of over 2 million that means I now only need over 23k mob kills for 1 lvl instead of the now 46k, how nice of them!

They are begging for this game to fail...the fact is many have played mmo's over the years and have come to desire certain things like group, play and end game content such as raiding and pvp etc...

Qeusting is nothing new anymore and is beating to death...mmo's focus so much on questing when in reality end game is what people want sry the roleplaying/single player fanboys dont undertsand this but its true...

questing is for children lol unless its some adventure to get a good item etc its simply boring and boring...

people in my guild are dropping like flys as they simply dont have the time or intrest to do this on each character...im calling f2p in 8-12 months...

Sorry..the game is solid in alot of parts but again shows lack of knowledge on the mmo scene...this is a subscription based mmo with key features missing...

Um, what? I thought all of this stuff was repeatable and granted you VR XP so long as you were not six or more levels above it. Do the VR zones operate differently than the 1-50 zones?

The mob XP in VR zones is still ridiculously low, even if it has been doubled in the 1.1 patch. It needed to be quadrupled or quintupled at the very least. Plus, it needs to increase with each successive VR zone to remain roughly on par with the additional 456K VP tacked on to each VR level.

oh you can do them as many times as you like but they only give meaningfull XP the 1st time you do them after that they give like 170xp

Give you a hint. Fastest way to get VR10 is NOT grinding quests.
First of all, there are several locations with elite mobs spawning like crazy and they give pretty decent xp and alot of loot.
Find a group and farm them.

Secondly there is even much better way to farm VR points but you have to be good in PVP and play solo or with 1 friend max.
Solo kills in Cyrodiil provide 1200-2500 veteran and allicance points. This is more then an average quest.
You better do it solo, because this points are splitting evenly betwin all alied players around you.
For example, yesterday i farmed about 25k points by simply grinding unaware Ebonheart Pact players in Bruma quest city in less than a hour.

P.S. Seriously ? You whine about the fact that achieving something that meant to be hard and long term is hard and long term ? :D
Im an now VR3 in less than a month and i dont even play each day. I consider this quite fast actualy and im worried about that i will left nothing to do when i reach VR10 since there is literaly no point of farming VR dungeons because all loot you recieve (even the EPIC once) are literaly unasuable garbage or you can simply craft the same or even better thing with little effort.
Unlike ZOS promised to us, there is NO exclusive PVE items in this game expect of SETs (which im not very ammused with)since there are no exclusive traits or enchant what so ever.

Can someone add some insight into the 1st paragraph please, would be very intrested where are these mobs spawning like crazy in VR areas!

Would also like to know these "VR exploits/cheats" people use to level. There's alot of mouth out on forums talking about this, yet no one actually says what they do, or see being done. Now either this is an attempt to get the "secret", or people are doing it, then complaining so that it gets banned/taken out of content from futur players.
  • kristiannyman88b16_ESO
Best way to level for me so far is to get a static group and just grind dungeons.
Got 300-350k per T2 instance and with a static group you can finish it in less than 20min. It's roughly 1mil exp/h.
