boss farming bots makes public dungeon completion impossible.

I don't mind farmers, until it affects my ability to progress.
I cannot complete certain dungeons, because they bot auto attack with templar using the default spear attack.

It does so much damage quickly that my attacks aren't counted, and I don't get loot.

Can you put a long cooldown on looting a boss, or instance the dungeons per group, or make players leave the dungeon before they can see the boss again after killing it?

Read the patchnotes... 10 minute cooldown on looting bosses... That probably won't stop it, but it should be in 0.5
The statement "if you put enough monkeys behind enough typewriters... sooner or later one will produce the works of Shakespeare" has sadly been proven utterly wrong by the internet...

    will do nothing.
    Incompetent game developer is incompetent.

Give them time man, not like they can wave a wand and make all the botters go Pooooof

Yea. But apparently they can wave the magic wand to make things even worse for players. What this will do is encourage more bots to compensate. Even if it does not it does not stop the stack of bots killing the boss so quick the player cannot get a hit.

There had better be something else going on aw well because on its own this change is insanely stupid.

I see so many people complaining about this and yet I haven’t had any issue with getting the kill on the boss in the public dungeon.
I get that the idea of bots existing in the game bothers everyone, but from what I’ve experienced most times there are just normal players there that choose to farm those bosses for some reason ,witch doesn’t seem to be a problem since in a mmo game it’s a normal occurrence .
Sow truly don’t get what all the hate is about.

I agree with this. Those bots make it difficult for us real players to kill an enemy boss. I always report them.

15 bots camping in a low level dungeon tonite. Ridiculous. The new tactic is they have other bots taking out the adds you can pull on the stack to kill them.

About dungeins complition with loot and achievements, its possible to get 'em even with 10-15 bots. I noticed that bosses rarely drops something if you use Stamina skills (2-3 Silver Bolts in undead boss dont guarantee loot, but 1-2 Strife is almost 100% loot). Its not about % damage, its about poop with physical skills.

Use instant magic and you'll be happy.

I do not mind people farming dungeon bosses for a few mins, no big deal. The problem is the exploits and bots.

Yesterday I reported my first farm bot, because he was clearly using an exploit of some weird kind.

He was standing in one spot with weapon out. The second the boss spawn he PORTED several meters WITH the boss mob, and attack it. Then he magicly ports back to the original spot he was standing in.

What on earth is this? What kind of exploit is this?

Doesn't make allot of sense. My main is a 2h'er, and i use stamina skills about 80% of the time...and I get plenty of loot from bosses.

On the subject...I think they need to do more then the 10m timer. GM's constantly monitoring 100's of instances is too cost prohibitive. easy solution...increase the boss health based on # of players. won't stop farmers/botters, but it will at least guarantee that each player nearby will get enough hits in to qualify for a kill. then we can all sit back after 3-4 hits and chat or dance while the bots kill the boss for us.

    This is so true!

People screaming for GMs to police every public dungeon really need to pause and engage brain before typing.

I don't know how many public dungeons there are in the game, let's say 10 (I assume that's low). We also have no idea how many 'layers' there are on a 'megaserver' but I've seen suggestions that each holds about 2000 players. If we assume there are 100,000 players on-line at peak times (we have no idea but I'd argue this is very conservative given pre-order numbers) then that makes 50 layers.

So that means there are 500 instances of these and I think that's very likely on the low side, maybe double that is more real, who knows.

So how many GMs are people expecting ZOS to employ to simply deal with the BOSS battles in these places, let alone the trains of bots hunting the trash?

I hate these as much as anyone, they take away options to level, cause ZOS to reduce my playing options in a [futile] attempt to deal with them and cause endless threads on here complaining, but FACE THE FACT that manual real-time monitoring of this ONE problem (there are of course many aspects of RMT that are a PITA) is NOT REALISTIC!

I think it'll be the best solution. Increase boss stats depending on how many players in the room. Not only hp but also attack and defence power :3

Not as easy as it sounds I would suggest.

In FFXIV Square Enix have a similar problem, though not caused by a plague of bots, with their FATE system which are world events that spawn a 'boss' which all players can attack and get rewards from.

FATEs suffer exactly the same problem as you're referring to here and SE's solution was what you're suggesting .. and it fails badly a lot of the time!

The issue is how the game determines the number of players on which to do the boss scaling. Without going into the details, as the analogy with boss camping here only goes so far, SE's solution really doesn't work well and many FATE bosses are either woefully over or under-tuned.

Trion too tries to scale Rift bosses, they're somewhat better than SE at it but even so bosses swing from one extreme to another and the overall situation isn't much better than before Trion spent a lot of time and energy implementing the scaling system.

Same thing will happen here. Just watching the bots in action shows they're not dumb, there's intelligence in how they're scripted. Assuming that there are only a very small number of accounts controlling these armies then I can easily see how they could co-operate in limiting bot numbers on each fight to minimise kill time and maximise profits.

At best the scaling will lead to fights taking forever with way over-tuned bosses, which I'm not at all sure is actually a better situation than the one we're in now.

Maybe Scaling the boss like in GW 2 so that he kills some the bots each time he re-spawns , so at last there will be some dead bots in the grounD near the boss ?

Very true as the video below shows, these bots resurrected after we had them killed by aggro.
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/86074/resurrecting-bots-video#latest

Not only that but after about 1/2 hour (questing hard since EA and found this diversion) of us trying to kill the bots and/or move the boss (we couldn't accomplish anything with players not paying attention to chat) , the bot player/s logged in and moved the bots a couple times after they saw (apparently) that they weren't making any money/XP.

The owner pulled aggro on us (have that recorded) and then went back to bot position. They also teleported out and in/near the same spot.

It was interesting to watch (in a geeky sort of way), just to see them function. It's probably low-scale for a programmer but the actions were more advanced than I expected.

I was just screwing with a bunch of bots by pulling the boss away on top of a tent so they couldn't hit him and after a bit one came back and moved up to me then I was disconnected and when I tried to log in it said there were too many failed attempts and locked me out for 10mins. GJ Making our account IDs our ingame IDs since it seems the one that came back just spam attempted to log into my account and booted me off.

The bots were crazy last night in Deshaan. In all bar one dungeon they got the kills on the first attack, so you had to be as fast as an automated attack to join them. First fight they killed the monster before the graphics were loaded for me!

Fortunately we found a way for my wife at least to get credit. Spam restoration staff heal over times whilst waiting around. Then most of the bots have heals on them when they kill the boss, and she gets credit!
