2)Banning Bots? What on earth will that do?
    <snip>
You have to go after the source and make it unattractive and unprofitable.

Banning the accounts means the botters have to pay for new ones, if they get banned fast enough then botting becomes expensive compared to the returns gained, making it unattractive and unprofitable.

good way to deal with bots is to search for behavior patterns in log:
you play 24/7; all you do is killing one boss for days not moving on as you level up; move to town and sell everything to npc; then give your gold to another player. Chances are pretty big that you are a bot even if just doing one of this.

yes its possible to program the bots to not getting caught at least until you learn how bot 2.0 and 3.0 works.

Reducing revenue is also important, yes this has an major impact whatever people say. Bot accounts is not unlimited as you have only so many hacked accounts, not free as you could use the stolen credit card to something else.
No AH reduces the income to 1/4 or more, reducing respawn for the most popular bot hunting ground to an faction reduce income to that faction.
Adding other traps who must be avoided also reduce income.

Bots run by actual players to farm for them is far harder to catch as they are only bots part of the day, but this is an different issue.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

IMHO Bosses strength should be scaled according to how many players are present. I don't know if this is possible to implement, though.

This is a big problem, ESO is trying. I hate to say this but short of a GM standing there banning the bots, the phasing option looks better. Something has to be done, what can we as players do....STOP buying gold and items from these leeches.

Let's be honest: there is so much complaining here because players, not bots, spend a lot of time farming the bosses. This is just not good design. The end encounter in public dungeons should be challenging, and not a matter of working hard to get a blow in before they die in seconds. Good gear should be the reward for doing something significant, not hitting a pinata. The bosses make alchemy pointless (with tons of potion drops) and soul magic (charged soul gems.)

A guaranteed drop from a quest and no drop at all otherwise is a far better design. For farming, I'd tweak up the drops from groups of 3+ mobs and, for fun, sprinkle some ringers in the groups for public dungeons. But the current set up can't be sustained and it should not be - bots or no bots.

Seems to me this will cause MORE people to stand around bosses fighting it. If they make it where a normal person can't get their blue, and have to wait SEVERAL minutes to get another chance at it, those people aren't going to just wander off and come back 10 minutes later. There has to be better ways of doing this.

It means that once you've looted the boss, you need to wait before loot drops again.

You are not meant to sit in one place and farm boss drops over and over again. Today's hotfix confirms that.

I don't want to sit in one place farming the boss over and over. I simply want to get the one blue that tends to be in each boss' loot table.

Well, if it's a toss of the coin. You get a blue item or we remove bots from dungeons then erm...

    ...Oh well!

Well, yea... if this actually got rid of the bots I wouldn't have an issue with it. But this hasn't done anything to get rid of the bots, just slow them down a little bit. The bots don't care that it takes a little longer though, they'll be there all day farming anyway. I don't have all day, so now not only do I have to struggle to even get credit for the boss kill, I most likely won't even get any decent loot anymore either.

I think they tried to go the easy route, but it didn't fix the problem. In the end, their fix hurt real players more than bots.

because of the bots in this game, I have put some skills into 1. sec spell cast, just to get enough damage to actually get the dung boss achievement, and what really sucks, I only put it in my cast bar when I see to many bots, and its a waste of skill points

LOL! So now I would have to wait to loot 2 gold from a boss?

Not that I boss farm, but I find that funny.

Now if that boss dropped 500 gold... now we are talking!

My main is in Shadowfen now and I have exactly one drop...one drop from a dungeon boss. The only reason I was able to get that one was because of a player using chain pull.

I've just resigned myself to the fact that I'm not going to get any loot from dungeon bosses. Credit for the dungeon is the new loot I guess!
  • jmossb14_ESO
I had a friend do this crap (bots) on SWTOR and i despised the fact he was doing it cause i consider it as cheating. But anyway,.....I do remember reading alot about how if they found you doing such activity that you would get a permanent ban from the game. To me that's the easiest fix. Isn't that what they have done with some of the gold farmers/spammers? and with all that said,.....ive also heard that we would see alot less of this after peoples free 30 days......

Are you guys even reading this right? The way I interpret it, is that unless you wait a set amount of time the boss creatures loot table will not refresh and continue to drop nothing. So once they attack again as it spawns the game detects they have killed it and refreshes the timer again. These bots generally murder the mob as soon as it spawns. So if they have some code which prevents them from getting loot at all while doing this then its a decent fix.

I don't see why they would just change the timer to drop less loot that doesn't make sense.

If it's truly how you people think it is then yes it is pointless and only hurts the legitimate player base. Surely not....

Personally these dungeons are not any challenge with groups of people running around constantly anyway. It's very anticlimactic. I'd prefer they just made then solo or group able instances with scaling. Or just give us the choice problem solved.

If this were the case it may actually work... But I didn't read it as it resetting the timer just by killing the boss. I read it as it resets each time you actually get loot.

I seen bots for my first time in a solo dungeon yesterday it was the very first dungeon in daggerfall right outside the city I think in the broken tower hidden entrance, I'm not home so can't give the correct name... They all had random gibberish names like "hrjkd" and they all moved at the same time camping a boss.

I was lucky to get at least 2 hits in to get credit because all I want is the completion/achievement. There was like 6 of them all packed together and their movements were all at the same time.

I thought people were exaggerating because a week ago there would be a bunch of people camping the boss but they weren't bots, they all responded to my messages and had legit names and were jumping around and looting and stuff but now I see these bots.

I really wish zenimax would just have a GM to go in the dungeon and just observe for about 10 minutes...I guess they expect everybody to report them. This really needs to be taken care of though, it was hard to get credit for this boss kill, I had to try 3 times and I never camp bosses because the gear and xp isn't worth my time... Please get rid of these bots.

They're going to ruin the fun of dungeons.

I have said this many times and I am sure that if the forums could say "ignore this person" many of you would see not this, but I have to say it again because it explains what they did with the loot.

Many instances of what people video, screensnap, and report as "bots" in dungeons are actually live players actively controlling multiple accounts simultaneously. They may have gibberish names, but the only automation is whatever they are using is to slave one account to another. These specific players are still pressing the buttons that cause what you see as the attack. Call it a "bot" if you want, but it is "multiboxing" and a lot of games allow it.

It is clear to me now that Zenimax wants to end the camping on the bosses, but they do not want to ban the live players. I think they would rather that those players move on to other things. To accomplish that, they appear to be trying to find a way to allow people to farm the dungeons for "blues" while discouraging the constant camping. They are trying to social engineer a solution, put some vinegar into the mix, make it less enticing to camp.

Would just like to add my 2 cents that this will not affect bots. I was running dungeons last night - the piles of bots have not decreased or disappeared. They still attack the boss each time he appears, leaving real players with no chance for completion or loot at all.

I wish they could bind the blue items to the account (no trade). This would allow you to pass your items to any character on your account through the shared bank. It wouldn't allow folks to continuously farm items for selling.

It wouldn't stop the gold sellers but it might help in the dungeons (and overland zones).

So one player is skilled enough to start killing the boss (before it even appears on my screen) while running multiple other accounts through the dungeon to boss spawn simultaneously? Not only that, but they often times stand inside of each other with such precision on the first attempt that the guy might as well be a neurosurgeon.

Multiboxing exists, and I won't deny the potential of that sometimes being the case. But in the case of dungeon farming, the majority are bots based on the multi-threaded behavior.

I'm just going to say that this fix doesn't seem to do anything at all to me. I ran a public dungeon last night in coldharbour got to the boss, killed her, and she dropped a blue staff. I went and grabbed the skyshard then was exploring the rest of the room when she spawned again. I hit her a few times and she dropped some more loot. I decided to wait to loot her until I had explored the rest of the room. By the time I had done that and gone to loot her she had spawned again, so I killed her so I could loot her previous corpse. I got the same blue staff from all 3 kills. All within a minute or 2 of each other. There were also 0 bots in this dungeon just 1-2 other players running through and clearing it the same as me.

Pretty sure this isn't working as intended... Yesterday I did a dungeon in Deshaan with my GF, as usual there were 20 bots piled up where the boss spawns. When it spawns I hit it, get credit and a pile of loot (Including a blue item). My GF was distracted and missed the spawn, so we wait 30 seconds for the re-spawn. When the boss re-spawns I hit it again, get the same loot I did before (including another identical blue item). My GF got credit, but didn't get any drops, so we waited again. The boss re-spawns and I get yet another identical loot drop with another blue item. This time my GF gets the same drops as I did. We decided to test and farmed for about 15 minutes. We ended up with more than a dozen blue items between us during that short amount of time. If this is happening to the bots as well it's no wonder there are so many in the game.

Something worth trying, if you use resto staff, is to keep regeneration up on anyone camping the boss in a public dungeon, I noticed that I got credit for the kill that way. I care less about the loot and more about completing everything so that works for me.

The only thing this does accomplish is to make us who don't bot even more upset. :(

The bots will simply farm a boss, teleport to another, teleport to another ... come back to the first one when the time limit has expired. Rinse and repeat.
It won't slow them down ONE BIT.

Yet real players will feel the impact ...

Worst part is I feel like a bot sometimes when I have to try and get just one hit on the Boss for credit, and they die so fast you sit there for 4-5 respawns until you get a hit in :(
