Ex Employee or Troll?

    Re: OP

The technique of 'trolling' described is one used in the real world (what's that???) by journalists, private investigators and people who wish to spread rumour and gossip-- your actual troll/disgruntled employee/rival company etc..

The former two use it to fish for information by positing a dire scenario and waiting for the denial. The last type spreads illness and disease.

All three are dealt with by silence.

    Hi folks,

We don't believe the person who made those posts is a former or current member of the ZeniMax Online Studios development team; there have been no such layoffs.

I thought about applying, but the lack of communication to the public tells me there are some internal struggles going on that I dont want to be apart of.

Good luck with that search, I know your network needs the attention.

Ahhhh... was wondering how long it'd be before the "past employee" trolls appeared to make their attacks/trolling attempts. They are a slightly more "evolved" (using the term very lightly) to the professional curmudgeon that usually hit in the first wave of a game's release.
The only negative experience in ESO is those that make it negative.

I'm not defending the f2p model TOR did but if ESO does go f2p I hope they at least give subscribers the equivalent of cartel coins to spend in whatever cash shop they set up. In TOR at least as a subscriber you had full access to all features and received the cartel coin bonus to spend in the market. There were unique ships and mounts you could only get through the market. What I really hated about TOR's cash shop was the legalized gambling aspect of it with cartel packs. That was just too greedy even unethical imo.

I do know this though. Most of the senior developers will have already left or been let go simply because they don't need them at this point of the process. Now the company will bring on more maintenance and content developers. The framework has been put in place. So, it shouldn't be seen as a negative thing that the senior developers have been let go. The infrastructure is there for the content and maintenance developers to grow upon.

The question is will they do it right, or will they rush everything and push out a big buggy rat nest of crap.

You can get 2 content/maintenance developers for the price of 1 senior developer (sometimes 3 or 4 even).

They are a lot like television producers. They are there for the initial inception, then they are moving on to the next big project, passing the reigns off to someone else to maintain.

Personally I don't care that much how they charge me. As long as the game is enjoyable I'll be happy.

I thought GW2 did the B2P thing in a reasonable way and it wouldn't upset me to see ZOS do the same.

I'd prefer they keep the sub though because a F2P move would be seen as a sign of failure.

Sounds to me he/she either used to work for Zenimax or applied to and got turned down, and now he/she is trying to make the company look bad due to what ever happened to them...simple case of wanton backlash due to what ever happened.

I have played just about every MMO there is out there and it has been a very long time since I have had this much fun in any of them. Why? you might be asking? Well I am finding the leveling experience to be somewhat of a challenge as I am usually pushing myself ahead of the content and trying to do quests that are several levels above me. This makes the game challenging and that is something severely lacking in MMO design now days.

The only thing I am concerned about is when I read about boss nerfs like the recent decrease in the abilities of Doshia, a boss in the fighters guild quest line. I don't like that the developer simply decides to nerf the boss when they could have just opened up that quest to grouping and then those who don't want the challenge can get some friends to help them and the ones who do want the challenge can analyze and change tactics and strategies to beat the boss...

Please Zenimax DO NOT just nerf bosses because that is the easiest thing to do it will ruin the game faster then anything else.

There actually was a guy in Star Trek Online that would pretend to be a dev. He was actually semi-delusional and thought he was one, but for people who knew who he was, he was a constant source of unintentional entertainment. He used to claim the reason he'd been banned from the forums was because the moderators were "jealous" of his role.

Finally got himself banned for spoofing their website.

If this is true... when this game goes FTP I am not playing it anymore, as much as it is going to pain me.
I have had terrible bad experience with FTP and I have seen what it does to good games. Even if they keep VIP / Subs intact - in the end it will still cost me more than a sub.

Plus, this "Free" to play is just one big bad joke and lie.
If you are a dedicated player who wants to advance and enjoy the content without any hinderance you have to pay... and FTP is very often far more expensive...and becomes very quickly a boring "Pay to Win".

This free To Play only applies to those goofy people who just fool around and do not really play the game itself - and use it more as a chat platform with pretty faces. Or those who successfully leech of VIPs

I do not mind if they offer some convenient stuff for real world money.
Like re-doing your looks, cosmetic stuff for clothes, colors for clothes... what not - everything that is just for the looks and fun.

No. Most F2P models are "get the player invested, then lean on them to spend cash." TOR jumped the whole "get the player invested" part, and went straight to the leg breaking. Unless you know of another F2P that actually locked out HUD elements and tried to sell those back to the player.

Yeah, it comes with the example. If the game has to go F2P some day, then it has to go F2P... the problem is the TOR example.

I've never seen the same level of arrogance and contempt from a mainstream developer towards their customers as I did in TOR. Maybe not caring about EA Sports helps, but... ugh.

And that spilled all over the place in the F2P transition. Everything screamed to me, "you didn't understand our masterpiece? PAY US TRIBUTE PEONS!"
