Make achievements account wide please

jy82988ub17_ESO
I love going working towards achievements. I would love to level another class to maybe make it my main, but I don't want to have to re-do all the achievements I've already got on my vr2 DK. I'm sure i'm not the only one that feels this way, I feel like i'm pigeon holed into leveling a class that I may not like in the end due to me being a achievement completionist =[

    Not again...

wow ruined alt´s with their account wide stuff, don't do it with TESO too. If you log into wow today, nobody is doing low level content anymore and this situation got worse with every year since acc wide achievements. It takes away the fun in leveling a new char, if everything is already done.
  • jy82988ub17_ESO
How did account wide achievements ruin anything? I'd rather not bust my ass on 2, 3 even 4 different chars grinding out achievements burning myself out just to get back to where I was on a class that I ended up not enjoying as much as I do other classes. This game has A LOT less to do and it's 90% SOLOABLE so I don't see how me having all my quest, lorebook, skyshards, ect achievements already on my alt would have any negative effect on your gameplay.

    Terrible idea.

Account wide achievements are a good idea. It would make it more likely for me to play alts.

What so 'find 16 skyshards in auridon, achievement unlocked' will also unlock on alt that hasn't found any skyshards there? huh?

I can see making the achievements that would unlock vet content being account wide, so 2nd, 3rd, 4th, characters didn't have to repeat that same quest line over and over and over....

I am quite a bit of an OCD Completionist..., it sucks.

Because not only you have everything, but so does everyone else. I would be incredible annoyed if I start a char and have all sky shards, boss kills unlocked. It would make playing this char totally pointless as there is nothing to achieve anymore.

That doesn't mean that there cant be achievements for your account. For example have x chars on VR 10 for example.

What a lot of people always forget is that everything they want, would automatically happen for everyone else. MMO´s are not single player games where your actions have no impact on others.

No, I don't want this either. Achievements are a good way to know what you've done on a specific character. How can I find out what I missed on Toon B if Toon A already ran that zone and got the achivements? Bad idea. I don't want this.

Maybe there could be some achievements that are account wide. I like having many of them as character-specific, however. I don't want an alt I roll already having achievements that the character didn't get.

This kind of thing would be okay. Quests completed in zones. Dungeons completed. Skyshards collected. That kind of thing needs to be character and not account-based.

That's why I said what I said. I'd want to be able to find all those sky shards on each toon too. as well as completing other content.

Please, no. After playing with account-wide achievements in WoW and GW2, I much prefer ESO's system.

I do understand the lure of being a completionist, but account-wide achievements make each character feel less special, IMO.

I'm not *completely* against the idea of account-wide achievements, but only for certain things. WOW went the "account wide achievements for everything" route. I wouldn't mind seein SOME account-wide achievements, for things that aren't isolated to a single character. But yes, most achievements should be tied to the character that does them.

But if they were to add an account achievement for say, 1 VR10 character of each faction, in addition to the character specific stuff, I wouldn't mind.

this is a no brainer. Its the same as the legacy system in SWTOR. No reason not to have account wide cheevos.
  • jy82988ub17_ESO
In WoW you have the achievement on all chars, but its still grey out for your alt. You can still track the progress and get the achievement, but it doesn't count towards your achievement points.

I feel pigeon holed into one char cause I don't have the time, or desire to re-do all the achievements I already have on one char. As much as I may like another class more than the one I'm already playing the chances of me switching is slim to none due to my accomplishments on my 'main.'
  • jy82988ub17_ESO
Skyshards wouldn't be a problem if any of you know how the system on WoW works. You can still track everything, I know cause I was doing it on alts when leveling thru panda content in WoW. It's to damn easy.

    Absolutely not!!!!!!!!!

The achievements should ONLY be towards the character that actually did it.

No one forces you to do anything. If you have done an achievement on another char, feel free to do it or skip it.

The ESSENCE of Elderscrolls characters are that they are their own. Some good, some bad, etc.

Zenimax....do not, please DO NOT give in to this. Char bound achievement and future "features" that a character can do, let it be THAT char. This way every single char have their own story and if you will, their own "braging" rights.

As previous mentioned above, World of Warcraft ruined the value of achievements because they where account bound.

I'd be hesitant about stating on the forums that you let your girlfriend play an alt on your account. While many many people do so, it's against the ToS and there's no reason to risk saying that here.

I looooooove achievements and I am an altoholic, but ever since WoW introduced accountbound achivements to the game, lvling new alts just doesn't have the same feeling to me anymore. So plz do NOT introduce that here too. I like rolling a new alt and atleast have some illusion that it's all brand new even though I actually played through the game on a different char. And having a list of completed achievements ruins this "setting" for me. Might nok make sense to others, but that's how I feel about this issue.

Only, in the case of books, texts and other lore items would I like to know if it's true that some of them are not availlable, if you missed them during a questrelated private dungeon that is unavailable after completing the quest. There was another thread about this issue on the forums the other day, where the poster was concerned because some of the lore-related achievements are still bugged. And apparently they can't retroactively restore achievements, that you completed but for some reason didn't get credit for - even if you did get the skill point for that specific skyshard or have learned the racial traits and so on. Which makes no sense for me, since this is possible in WoW. But if this is actually the case then I would understand making these specific collectible achievements world wide so that those who already maxed out their main don't have to roll an alt and find every little scrap of paper all over again just because of some silly bug. I would prefer having an option to only show my current characters achievements though. Something that hasn't been implemented in an ideal way (to me) in WoW.

    I got an idea...guys...why don't we ...guys...listen...

Why don't we....why don't we make a optional button to press to make all achievements account wide/per individual character so you can pick which you want!

    Why not both?

How does doing an achievement on one char and having it on another char ruin the 'value' of said achievement? You still did it, you have the knowledge of how to do it, but you may not want to go thru the long journey of doing it all over again. I can't understand how this ruins the 'essence' of your char. It has the achievement via the account, but it hasnt actually chosen any path.

If you could please give a reason, or a scenario when it would play into ruining your chars 'essence' whatever that may be.

nonsense. if not achievments - in Blizzard games would play far fewer people. In WoW and Diablo nothing more to do. Achievments in raid it a realy expirience.
When storyline ended - nothing remains except pvp.

Your right we should never improve off others ideas. Take what was great for others and worked well and just say no we're different can't do that we have to make this OG even if it makes it worse than our competitors. I'm sure Apple and Microsoft would of loved to have people with this mentality that if they did it we can't improve on it. Seriously get out of here with this.

Why do ppl always go on the fence the second WoW is mentioned? In this specific case it's not like anyone is sitting here praising WoW as can be seen in other cases - trolling or not. Whether you personally like WoW or not, the game is a good example to use, when you want to illustrate something that you like or don't like, since the majority of the playerbase have actually played this specific game and even those who haven't seem to have quite a lot of knowledge about it. I honestly don't see the issue in comparing games - every game that I have personally played or even heard of have had something really good to offer but also something bad. They have each set a precedence in some area within gaming and precedence is something that ppl can learn from.
