Endless loading screen - can't play.

I was online for a little while, and the load times were terribly slow (more so than usual) and after trying to enter a dungeon, I got stuck on an endless loading screen.

I've tried to reconnect many times since, and occasionally I'll get a login timeout, or some error about account privileges. But most of the time I log in, and select my character but get stuck on an endless loading screen. Sometimes the backdrop image doesn't load and it stays black.

I tried deleting the lua file located at Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\SavedVariables per a tip I read, but that didn't change anything for me.

So.. I cannot access the game at all.


EDIT: Today 4/13/14

Load times are still really long today. 3min. Last night's maintenance seems to have just temporarily improved it.

EDIT2: Well now they are getting to be over 5-6 minutes. Sigh... And chat messages takes several minutes as well.

Load times greater than 8 minutes, some longer than 10 minutes. I know the game is new and all, but this is just ridiculous. Sometimes we're getting stuck inside instances getting spammed with "Your attempted transfer failed."

I'm currently stuck inside a quest area that isn't even mine. It takes my money for failed wayshrine attempts, and I have to wait forever between attempts because the prices skyrockets to 800g+.

I just tried to switch characters and the same thing happened. Game won't load.

Edited to add: Like you, I am getting a variety of errors during various stages of the login process.

everyone does, server is dead[ish]. I mean, technically not entirely dead, but may as well be at this point.

yep same here it is most likely because I have time to play. first time all week. I blame it on the rain cloud that follows me.

I let the game load for like 8 minutes and I loaded, but soon as I tried to change areas again, another horrendous loading screen. So many area transitions in the game it's next to impossible to avoid and get anything meaningful accomplished.

It loads but like after 10mins! What is the Service Level of ESO to us players? If there are constant disruptions, who would want to continue paying for MMO like this? lol

yup this is a server wide issue, so just be patient, go eat, be with your significant other or family for a couple hours, get away from the computer, and when the games back, then you come back feeling refreshed!

Same problem, also the one time I did get in, my bank had been reset to the base slots, even thought I have paid for 3 upgrades, so who knows what's happened to the items in the overflow, rollback needed perhaps.

Just made a thread not long ago about the same issue. Can't get past selecting my character, and sometimes the loading screen image won't load, showing just the black screen with the area name, fluff, and spinning ESO logo at the bottom (plus the ESO title at the top).

Seems it's a big enough issue that they've given us a nice big red flag across the top of the forum mentioning it. I don't think I've seen them respond this fast to an issue before, so kudos to CS!

Add my name to the list. Stuck loading into the cellar of the lighthouse next to Vukhel Guard. 10 minutes and counting on this particular try, but I haven't been able to zone for the last 40 minutes.

I used a shrine to port to a place, screen turned black and I I got an error. Then I spent the next ten minutes trying to log in, and getting login errors and time outs.

Five minutes later I starting getting past the login screen, and staring at a ESO splash screen... then the timeout error. Now I can get to the character selection screen sometimes, but the game times out as I try to log the character into the game.

Took fifteen minutes of numerous attempts and i got in, then died as mobs pummeled me to death as I was typing this LOL


Bah... crashed again, back to the goofy login errors of death....

Just really slow loading, even when changing zones, using shrines, entering dungeons, etc...
