Ignore list full already; zone chat off maybe permanently

I didn't count how much we are given but our ignore allocation is inadequate. Since it's now full I'm starting to see more & more gold seller spam in /zone that I can do nothing about. They make zone chat very difficult to use and sometimes impossible to use.

Please increase the allocation for the ignore list.

The accounts being used for this get banned pretty quick. So there's no reason to keep a name on your ignore list longer than a day or so.

They ban large groups of reported people (by the thousands) every few days or so. Just report them and leave them be. They will be gone soon.

You can create additional message tabs and check everything except for zone chat, that should give your eyes some rest.

How about a published list of gold spammer accounts that have been banned so I know who to take off and who to leave on?
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Pretty sure if they're gold spammers their accounts are banned pretty quickly. So id assume you could delete them, but still, would be nice to have a bigger ignore list.

You're forgetting that Zenimax has to be careful with private information.
That said, there also have been quite a few people that have been banned for sending mass in-game mails that weren't regarding gold selling. It would be very bad publicity to 'crap list' false positives like that.

My suggestion is, that if and when accounts are permanently deleted, the server should send an update pulse to all clients to automatically clear that entry from the ignore/friends lists. (Or implement a 'check' for the whole friends and ignore list to see if those accounts still exist. And if not, clear the entry.)

My thoughts exactly. Yes I was going to eventually clear the ignore list after a couple of months. However, it filled it up incredibly fast!

    response to an earlier comment....
I had 6 chat tabs on early access day one. I have other channels to chat on or see NPC text. The actual player zone chatter didn't bother me at all, even though it sometimes scrolled like crazy. However the gold sellers take over the channel and you can't have a discussion with anyone.

Now I get regular emails and several times a day a group or guild join request with the name of their web site worked into their name.

My question is when you ignore someone do they get a response saying you ignored them with your account or character name?

I cleaned my entire ignore list yesterday since all the people on it were banned, had no more problem with spammers than before since all the ones on the list had been banned already.
This is my Signature, but not really because I didn't sign it with a pen and its not my name.

First thing I do in every MMO is turn off zone chat. Why would you have it on? There is never, ever, anything worth reading in it. Even if you dismiss spam, the average IQ of zone chat in every MMO is about 20. Just turn it off and you will find life so much more mellow :)

If someone is ignored, they should not be able to communicate with you at all. So they should not be able to invite you to their scumbag guild two or three times a night. That's annoying.

i agree with agathorn. zone chat should be used as sparingly as possible. i am apart of 3 merchant guilds and they are far more helpful than zone chat ever was.

make a few chat tabs to cater to your experiance, i have one chat tab for subtitles, one for guilds, and one for zone chat. i only ever check zone chat while in cyrodill, or when announcing a dolmen/world boss is up.
  • MordenOtomo
    People actually watch zone chat?
