Gathering for Medium Armor Mats is Broken

So why is it that to make the tier of medium that starts at level 26 I need to farm animals that are above 30?
I go to Shadowfen at 25 and start killing animals that are 26 and 28, yet they drop Hide that is for crafting gear up to 24. How does that make any sense?
There's cotton galore that is for level 26 and above, but only about 6 animals that I can find that are level 30, that are needed to farm the leather scraps that I need.
The entire medium armor system is broken compared to the other armor mats of the same level.

Try reading what I wrote again and this time read more than the first sentence ..... I'm saying that I'm killing animals that are 26 to 29 and getting hide that is for gear that is 24 and lower, yet in the same zone I can get light armor mats and heavy armor mats that are for that level of gear ... i have to kill animals level 30 and above, to get mats to make gear for lower than what i need to actually kill the animals I need for the mats.
See how stupid that is now? The entire medium armor system is broken

You cant easily get the material to make level appropriate armor I think is what hes saying.

Level 26 cloth requires cotton. Its all over the place. Level 26 medium requires leather. Typically you get this from beasts or deconstructing medium armor. You dont get it from beasts til 30 regularly and Ive yet to decon a drop from Shadowfen that gives leather. Theyve all given hide.

Rawhide Crafts Level 1 to 14
Hide crafts level 16 to 24
    Leather Crafts 26 to 34

So common sense dictates that if I want Leather I kill something between 26 to 34.
But that's not happening, if I kill something at 28 I get Hide, hence BROKEN.

It really needs to be adjusted to match the level of the animal, to the level of the mats that it drops.

I still wonder how the whole medium armour crafting is "BROKEN" because of this.

Is the only problem that the enemies are at a higher level? But it can still kill them?

Is it broken I could find oricalchum and cotton in a lvl 15-24 area? I found it to be exhilarating to be able to find higher level items in a lower level area.

I do not know about you but I found leather scraps as soon as I went to the area and killed the monsters I would guess they would be in.

    Very personal in here.

Well I still do not understand how this is a craft 'breaker'.

If I can kill enemies at lvl 30 when I am 10, and I want the leather and not the hide, why do I go and kill the enemies in the 26 area.

    Yes, I agree, it's BROKEN.
You can find Hickory (tier 4 wood) and Spidersilk (tier 4 cloth) in the same zone where animals still drop HIDE (tier 2 leather)
You can find Cotton (tier 3 cloth) in lvl 20 zone, yet for Leather (tier 3 leather) you need to kill lvl 30+ animals that you won't find until you're lvl 30+ in Rivenspire..

Like, seriously.. lvl 24+ animals should be made to drop leather instead of hide. It's hard enough that we have to forcibly farm wildlife for several hours (took 3 hours of massacring Skeevers and Trolls, stupid 30% chance to drop) to make ourselves a single set (let alone some to possibly sell), not that we have to venture beyond our quest progress to do so.

A player is intended to follow a broad leveling pathway. In the case of medium armour, for no obvious reason, that core design is broken. This has nothing to do with difficulty.

Personally, I suspect both medium armour crafting and enchanting were 'scrabbled together from the remnants of a previous design', working well enough to ship the game, but not actually intended to work this way.

Not had a problem finding leather at all. I deconstruct all medium armour that I don't research and refine all the leather scraps that drop.
I always seem to have over 100 leather in the bank and usually end up selling a second stack of 50+ after a few hours of play.

A player is 'not' intended to follow broad pathway. hmm what I am not intended to think? What should I do now.

Game developers creating a game not intended to play as it does, make sense.

To go by how you guys are thinking then they must boost Cotton because I find more leather and orichalcum then cotton. Then they must boost both leather and cotton because I find way more orichalcum then cotton and leather.
Talk about broken game...I am sure it is like this for everyone!

What make no sense to take them out just to give skeletorz more of something, because skeletorz can not find it.

That kinda explains why, over several days in Deshaan, I managed to gather several hundreds of steel and flax, yet only ~30 of appropriate med-armor mat (hide?).
Seems slightly unbalanced to me, good thing I could switch to light/heavy at this stage and/or wear looted medium pieces.

    Also, ignore that troll.

    I got 87 leatherscraps, 81 rawcotton and 90 orichalcumore.

According to you it is impossible to get anywhere near 30% leather scraps then raw cotton and orichalcum ore, or is it?
According to my inventory it is 50/50 in materials, also I want to note I use medium armour in my gear and 3 pieces of light, ore only for my weapons. So with that said I should use most crafting gear on medium armour and therefor have the least amount of leather. in my inv. I also have ingots, cotton and leather in my bank, not the unrefined material.

I have no trouble getting leather scraps and I came to that area on lvl 24 and was farming leather. You can kill Mudcrabs, rats, crocodiles, senche, bears for leather and those were the most easy ones to kill, are others too. The first three are really easy to farm and spot, rats are a little harder since they mostly hide in grass and are small, the crocodiles can look look like a stone near the water edge but try hitting and they will move, mudcrabs the dumb moving shells on the beach.

I am not following the guidelines of the quests I am more of an explorer type and love to hunt down the skyshards and do quests along the way as a side note. So I am not walking in the low level area first, but mixing it.

You certainly live up to your second part of your name.

This should be the last time I post in this topic too, Since you complain about my reading I should do the same to you but I am not that kind of person to "rage" over the internet as much.

26/27 does not drop leather crafting items, I still do not see the big deal, it is 2 levels and I have still hardly found any of those creatures.

I play in AD with this char, and killing mudcrabs lvl 28 when I was lvl 24 was not a problem, nor was killing skeevers, crocodiles or senche. And I am more focused on crafting skills then killing skills.

That does make your post false from my point of view since you say you can kill animals lvl 28 and they do not drop. Atleast to me, maybe a bug in your area, but you talk about it here like the whole game is a big disaster. Too make it more obvious I certainly does not understand the need for drama over these two levels since you can move freely in the game. Also you do not need to kill a lvl 28 animal until you are lvl 26 since then you can actually use it, other then selling.

Maybe I am the one being trolled, since I am no the one trying to humiliate or talk derogatory to another poster.

The hide system is absolutely unfair and needs to be adjusted. I've spent hours gathering leather, when the other armors are MUCH easier to gain mats for. This is not right.

Here's the gist of this thread.

You use Leather to make level 26 items.

You cannot get Leather or scraps from level 26 creatures.

You should be. Nothing like having to go kill stuff higher than you, to make armor that'll likely be below your level by the time you have enough.

I agree, the Medium armor is much more difficult to get than it's counter parts. I have been farming in Shadowfen all evening and only have 5 scraps... really?

I have more spidersilk than leather. I have about 75 ores, 125 cotton, but only 5 scraps. Oh, and don't forget my all time favorite, crawlers from that jerk that left behind before me.

Someone needs to edit the Troll wiki page to include the word "Yakidafi".

I would have said a problem would be that once you outlevel those monsters, you stop getting the mats. Is true, but deconning stuff you find in the field has to me proven the best way to level clothcraft. Eventually the only important thing will be shadowcloth, and you can decimate fields of leather dropping enemies and get tons of it.

As far as making things as you level up, I myself never made a new armor set every 2 levels, but instead every like 6 or 8 levels, and for vet levels every 3 or 4 vet levels make a new armor set.
