My sentiments here have been expressed before and elsewhere, but they bear repeating/clarifying so that ZOS has a better chance of seeing them:

REGARDLESS of the fact that Zenimax explicitly told us not to spend extra money on expedited shipping, there should have been no reason for people to have chosen overnight shipping when ordering it months ahead of time.

I ordered mine in Feb and [more or less] expected them to ship it sometime prior to early access; I did not know they would be sending out separate early-access codes for use then, but that shouldn't matter.
Retailers for the physical edition (either, but in my case the CE) could have shipped them all ahead of time, and Zeni could have just made it so the codes didn't work until launch. That way, everyone would have their codes in-hand when that notice popped up saying "Now's the time to activate!"

I'm by no means a business mogul or of a programming persuasion, but that seems like it would have been both really easy and really smart to implement.

Instead, Amazon tells me that it should show up between the 10th and 12th--- so if it's the latter, and they won't deliver it on the weekend, I'll be waiting until MONDAY THE 14TH to get back in.

Hate/Discontent

P.S. To the people [both from inside ZOS and elsewhere] saying that we should have bought a bunch of 1's and 0's instead of an actual, physical copy of the game--- Yours has got to be some of the most daft thinking I've ever been unfortunate enough to have been exposed to.
I spent $107.61 all told for a game and a company I believed in.
Being bent over as a reward for loyalty isn't something I'll forget.

tl;dr This could have been handled so much better that it blows the mind. We, who bought the most expensive version of the game (which ZOS didn't even OFFER through them), should not be punished like this. This is truly a PR disaster. I hate to say it, but some heads need to roll topside for this nonsense and the subsequent radio silence.

First it was because ZoS embargoed resellers from shipping before the 4th, now it's because they didn't provide the product for the reseller to ship?

I'm all for accountability, there was a breakdown somewhere here and it's one of the biggest ones in recent gaming memory - my girlfriend cant play until Future Shop ships the copy, which should be here tomorrow (it's being shipped from a town 300km away instead of us just being able to pick it up at our local Future Shop).

The grace period should have been extended to sort this mess out. This game is amazing, has so much potential, strong name power, the funds and everything else to become one of the best MMO's in a long, long while. But this is a true PR nightmare and the fact no one saw it coming should mean some very heavy repercussions to those in charge of distribution.

Let me explain this slowly, since people keep blaming the resellers.

In February, I called Zenimax to order a physical copy. I was told in order to get that physical copy, I had to order it through a third party. I then found out that it was an online only item. This was fine, but I called Zenimax again to make sure that the game would be available for play until I received my copy or if I should pay extra for overnight shipping. I was explicitly assured, twice, that I wouldn't lose access to the game, but I would need to enter billing information, which is normal. So, I ordered my copy from Gamestop without paying for faster shipping ONLY because I was told it didn't matter. This is in NO WAY my fault, or Gamestop's. I would accept responsibility if I had not been told this.

NOW, add to that the fact that places like Amazon are saying they didn't receive their ful order, and we have this cluster fudge. Blaming the third party reseler is fine and all, but the power to fix this lies with Zenimax and no one else. I don't expect free time. Let me enter my billing info without the code and the problem is solved. Instead, we get "Sorry, not our fault". It's terrible customer service. It's like going to a restaurant and half the people getting seated for ordering a Coke, and the people who ordered the filet mignon are told to wait outside in the rain until their food is ready. It makes no sense.

Well, I havent heard that story, but when a product is sold it, it is sold out. Making more will take time. As for the talking with ZOS, who knows... perhaps its true.

Should they have given you the full code when you purchased? Probably... but here we are.

No, you're right. I totally made it up. Look what it's gotten me! See, people like you are so cynical, they can't even realize that people lie for a reason. What reason would I have to lie? Are the other 20 or so people that have made the same claim in these forums lying too? Why? What do they gain from it? If I had demanded a free month, or something else, I could see your cynicism. As it stands, all I want is what is OWED to me. Don't have to lie to get that, or at least I shouldn't have to. Your allusion that I am lying for no reason at all shows you're nothing but the troll you claim I am.

Because there seems to have been some confusion......

I ordered the game in February-- they kept sending out emails saying "They're selling fast! Preorder the Imperial Edition now before they're all sold out!" And so I did.
The email I did not receive ten copies of was "Sorry, you blew it. We sold out of the Imperial Edition and you missed out because you waited too long to get back from field training. You should have found internet access in the middle of the desert and made it work. Message to Garcia, Marine!" (Other grunts will get and hate that reference. har)

Like Ghar said-- what's done is done, and besides the fact that it's just common sense to look after your paying customers, Zeni is the only one that can fix this now.
Who's to blame for the breakdown in supply/demand?
Doesn't matter at this juncture; ZOS has the power to make us leave these forums and get back to what we want to be doing: playing the damn game.

P.S. If you got your game and have access to Tamriel right now, WTF are you doing here??

Why is that daft? I bought the digital version of the game and was able to play since last Sunday without interruption (barring actual downtime).

I am sympathetic to your plight, however, as you're quite correct that there was no reason for the game not to be sent out a week early with the code (which couldn't be used early anyway). But I don't see how my decision was daft when I can play the game and you can't

    ^ This.
I apologize for having been unclear.
It does us no good for people to constantly say "Well-- that's what you get for buying something tangible."
Well, yea. If one means we can play this minute and the other means we have to wait a week to do so, clearly the former is superior in the here and now.

I've never been one to buy the CE of anything, but I'm an Elder Scrolls diehard and I bit that $100 bullet thinking this was a way I could show my support.
Guess that's what I deserve for my well-wishing, right?

The big thing here that bothers most of us is the assumption zeni has no fault in this. It's amazons, sure, but also zenimax's. Ignoring the issue for 12+ hours also doesn't help. I just want an official response giving a definite answer. Either a solution or a you're SOL. Just so I can stop hoping for a solution, or so I can play a game I paid for.

Yours was my first choice, but BB was sold out of the CE; Amazon was the only recourse available to me. (Which I had no problem with seeing as how they've unfailingly provided above-and-beyond service for anything I've ever had shipped through them.)

But, again, it doesn't matter--- only Zeni can undo what has been done PR-wise.

Also, your post was the first I had heard of the servers being down because I [obviously] don't have game access.
I guess that explains why the forums are breaking. lol

How about MAKING GOOD with your customers by granting them access to the game, to show them you really care about them, hun? Is that too hard to do? Amazon does NOT have the power to do that- YOU DO!

Because some of us wanted the physical goods from the Imperial Edition.

I preordered from Gamestop on JANUARY 29th! My order is still marked as 'Open'

When I called, they say it was because of a Paypal error... I give them a credit card, and hope that fixes things. They never even told me about any errors, or told me that my paypal got declined (to which I have ordered many items since then via paypal...)

All I want is to be able to play the game I wanted to order THE DAY pre-orders were available. I dont want extra time that everyone else wouldnt get, I just want access to the game. Make my 30 days start at launch, IDGAF!

So.. the place you ordered from, sold more copies than they had to sell..and somehow this is Zeni's fault for not being able to preempt the ineptitude of the re-seller.. got it.
You got 3-4 days after release before needing to activate your account. Your situation may suck but I don't see how on earth it could be Zeni's fault. Tear a new one in your re-seller for selling what they didn't have to sell.
For the record, I got my physical copy of Imp edition the day of release from my local EB.
