Are refunds a thing?

Mushroomking311
Is there any way to get a refund for my purchase? As everyone's aware by now you have to set up your subscription before you can even play the 30 days that you already bought, which personally I think is outrageous. I don't think I'll activate my subscription, not because I can't afford it but just because of the stupidity of it, the game was hardly any fun to begin with and riddled with bugs that make it unplayable at times, and now I have to set up a sub and get temporary charges and all that bull over trying to play a game I already payed for. I don't want to set up a subscription I don't think I'll be playing anymore, is there any possible way to get my $80 back?
We have contacted our Customer support team to help you solve your issue.

I already requested a refund for this very reason. Totally unacceptable.

Waiting for customer support to reply. I'll let you know what they told me.

Thanks, this is just bonkers. I've been there for the launch of WoW, SWTOR, Rift, Tera and like 10 other sub MMOs, this "Standard practice" they talk about isn't standard practice it's pure idiocracy, I've played pretty much every MMO you could list and I've never been pissed at developers the way I am now.

Here's something for you to read.

    Ticket reference # 140406-003621

    "Hello.

I've just purchased your game. Hoping to have a better experience than the one I did in the beta and from hearing from my brother about his time enjoyed in the world of Tamriel I thought I would take the plunge and hope for the best. After facing never ending "requesting character load" screens and if by the gods I did get in the game I received a "Unknown error code" when trying to leave the first tutorial area (at the part when you get sucked up into the room to teleport out or something....). This was experienced in beta and has yet to be addressed? This is just silly and immoral to charge people good, hard earned money AND to ask for trust of ones credit card only to receive a broken and unplayable product? Let me ask you would you go and pay full price for a brand new automobile and drive it around the block and it all of a sudden dies on you? and the company says "ohhh well were just working out the kinks right now. we are selling these cars to people cause we have ran out of budge to work the electrical problems out. your just going to have to deal with and while we fix it! Thanks for your support and bring it in about a week from now and maybe we will fix one of your problems!". We (the customers) are not investors... we are here for a solid, complete product! one that doesn't "break" the moment we buy it. or buy it and wait for someone to fix it. Not only is that completely preposterous but completely immoral for such a renown company as Zenimax and Bethesda to do. You know this is starting to be common place in the business of the gaming world. (especially MMOs and 'green light' or 'early access' games). Now either i would like a extension for me AND my fellow gamers who purchased this "in the works" of a game or I want my money back plain and simple.

    P.S.

To the man/woman who reads this short letter. I know these time's must be very stressful but please take no offense because this has little to do with you but my wishes is that you, yourself make this issue know to the higher ups.

    Thank you for your time.

    Regards,

    Kanen"

Totally unacceptable practice for these huge money making company to pull. there should be laws on pratice of selling a incomplete project or falsely misleading customers to become investors because of loss of budget.... Really makes me mad......

Its honestly not that bad. I hated this because I don't want to enter a credit card number onto my account and have to wait about a day to get the money back. But, If you do this process with $15 in your paypal account, it takes no more than 10 seconds to do the authorization, saving you a lot of trouble.

You put it better than I did, and I agree 100% with you. I don't even want to play the game anymore. I spent the whole day playing a different F2P game because apparently I can get more entertainment from my free game than from a game I just spent $80 on. A short while ago I thought "Hey I'll download some ESO addons, maybe some 3rd party modification will make this broken game almost bearable." so I went and downloaded a few addons and tried to play the game only to find I can't play because they want me to set up a sub for a game I already bought and have time for so I give up entirely, it's not worth the effort anymore. I just want my money back.

I'm not concerned with not being able to afford it, the money isn't the point here for me. It's the fact that they're calling this *** "Standard Practice" when I've never had to deal with it before, and the principal behind it. I already payed for the game, they shouldn't need to make sure I can afford to pay for more before they let me play. $15 is not a problem to spend on something I like, and neither was the $80 when I spent it, but I've come to realize since then that it's not in fact something I like. It's something ridiculous, and I don't want to continue tolerating it. If I can't get a refund I won't be playing anymore anyway.

Yup you got it. How much you wanna bet there seeing how much money there going to make next month on subs? makes me sick.

I've requested my account is closed and the digital purchase is refunded. I can't afford to pay in Euros from a New Zealand base and you won't let me use my "free" 30 days that I've already paid for.

How long is this going to take please ?

I just put in my request for a refund. I don't use Credit Cards, and in my mind that's a good thing. I use the 30 day free play time to decide whether or not this is a game for me. You now tell me I have to pay for 30 days, before I get my free 30 days?? Think about it. That's the only way non-credit card users have of getting FREE time. How utterly slack on your part not to have thought this through. Its common sense.

I started a support ticket asking about options for a refund 8:20 am EST 4.4.14, so hunker down. Make sure you don't make my mistake and start logging other problems you have in meanwhile, or a CSR will come in, look at the most recent message, pretend to fix that and resolve the issue without a by-your-leave.

I can't even log in, keeps saying my login information is incorrect...even after resetting my password. Craziness! I've never seen anything like this and I've been playing mmo's since the late 90's. I like the game but, I definetly do NOT like this. The company should be ashamed of themselves and, at the very least, do something constructive to help fix this mess.

    Ridiculous!

Yeah I've already noticed their customer support is non-existent, pretty shoddy considering none of their *** is working as it is.

I'm not sure. I bought mine straight from here and they don't respond to their customers so idk if I'll be getting my refund or even just some form of communication even if it were a "too bad", but I think there may at least be hope for you.

Even if we got the time I wouldn't consider it game time. The game's so riddled with bugs it's hardly playable at times, I don't like relogging every 8 minutes to continue my "adventuring" (adventuring meaning more relogging to fix bugs... lol) They had months of betas and consumer response to get the game ready and they didn't. Bugs that were reported in the very first beta still exist... That's what I call lazy. It's not even a game yet, it's still in early alpha 2 days after the release. That's how well they pay attention to their people.

Dont really have a problem having to set up a sub for the game personally, what annoys me is the fact that they perform a check to see if you got funds in your account, regardless of having cash or having no cash at all in their accounts, people should have automatic access to their 30 free days... without any checkups or any bs of the sort, if the CC applied has no funds, they can freeze the account after the initial 30 free days the player is entitled to has run out, but before that, they shouldnt be able to do ***.

Its not their *** business what we have or dont have in our accounts, it only becomes their business after our 30 free days are gone and we decide to keep playing or not, and with the horrid decisions they are taking, i can see them loosing a lot of potential players.

If you purchased with a credit card digitally call your credit card company and have them charge it back to ZOS and explain that they are charging you in advance for a subscription when their own FAQ had stated they wouldn't be charging you until after the 30-day free access was done. Also tell them you created a ticket to resolve the issue and you have asked for a refund and they have not contacted you back.

In some states, this would be good advice, but in most parts of the US this is going to get YOU into legal trouble. Bad idea to get legal advice on the internet.

Subscribing wouldn't be a problem to me as I said before, obviously I had every intention of it when I bought the game. My problem is that I already have my game time and they won't let me use it unless they're positive that I can afford to pay for more once it's over. That's not their business until I say it is.
