I generally roll with the punches when it comes to what the game throw in front of me, but I have to ask: can we please get a setting to turn off those mid-screen notifications? I have lost count of the number of times where I've lost my group or flat out died because the notifications were blocking my view of what was happening. The upper-right counter for the journal tracker is plenty; I don't need billboards showing up in the middle of combat and blocking my view.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I forgot to add that to my feedback… multiple times. Yeah, that popping up with increments of ONE is bonkers.

The system you're referring to is CenterScreenAnnounce (CSA).

The important thing about CSA is that it doesn't drop messages. If there is a deluge of messages being displayed via CSA, they form a nice orderly queue and appear on your screen one at a time.

The problem with this is that when there are lots of message, they can create a large backlog. People who have done lots of Master Writs with the assistance of addons will have seen this too, where after turning in a hundred writs in quick succession, you'll be dealing with so many CSA messages that you could be done crafting the next batch of writs before the quest turn-in messages from the previous batch are done showing.

Lazy Writ Crafter has an option (enabled by default) that suppresses the entire CSA system while you're doing regular writs (not master writs) for a very similar reason. But it's suppressing every CSA message, not just the ones related to crafting writs, because there really isn't a good way to do it that isn't all-or-nothing.

Raid Notifier, the first major PvE combat notification addon, also used CSA, which as you can imagine was not great as notifications can sometimes show up long after a mechanic had completed, if there was a lot of other stuff going on. And RN's use of CSA was a major motivating factor for me to make my own addon that doesn't use CSA. So how do I handle a deluge of messages? Weeeell, sometimes I'm just forced to drop them, because having new ones show as the mechanic is happening is more important, and so if timing is not negotiable, then something has to give, and the trade-off is that CCA does not guarantee that notifications don't get dropped. I try to be sparing in my own use of notifications, but there are some addons (such as the ones by QCell) that use CCA's notification system that are so spammy that things will drop sometimes.

Anyway, back to the topic of CSA and quests, yes, it's annoying, but this is a tricky problem to solve. All quest progress in this game uses CSA. And in the vast majority of cases, there isn't a lot of message spam, and not losing messages is more important. Blood on the Sands is a bit of an outlier quest that pushes the CSA system to extremes that it was never really designed for.

I believe that there are some UI addons that will allow you to at least move the position of the text. While it doesn't prevent them from showing, you can at least put them in a spot that would be less annoying. Pretty sure Bandit's UI can do this.
