Game Performance Issues

Since last week's' patch there has been a severe degradation in the performance of the game. Trial instances are lagged to the point where every ~7s the game freezes for 1-2s.

What has happened? It has never been like this during previous Jesters events. (Or really any event for that matter).

Are the devs monitoring this? Are they aware? Is it known and being addressed?

The last time I recall it being this bad, it was related to a CDN issue for threat mitigation IIRC.

(No, it's not me: not my PS5, my network, or my ISP).

Are you sure it is not your ISP? Been running all over Tamriel over the last week, have not experienced any lag or slowdowns.

Most peeps can control their own network but once it leaves your house there is no control.

My router testing to the ISP is clocking in at 2+Gb/s down, 300Mb/s up. The PS5 tests show 800Mb/s down. I've streamed basically all day, every day, without any issues. I don't run on WiFi to my consoles.

It is only ESO that's having lag spikes.

You missed my point. You can have 5gb down from your ISP, but if there is a router issue downstream you would never know. Maybe do something simple as constant ping while playing, tracrt and/or pathping to see if there are issues downstream. I am not belittling or calling anybody out, it is just I have seen issues connecting to ESO in the past and have seen that is was a router in between my client and ESO servers.

It's a ZOS server issue. Usually it's Acamai service causing the problems. Performance issues in ESO are almost always server side and only very rarely can be fixed by the customer.

Thank you for the reality check. I did work on testing it and my tests show packet loss trying to get through Boston to VA (presumed location of ESO PS NA Megaserver).

It was annoying as everyone in the instances (multiple runs, over several days) also indicated they were experiencing lag, though hard to say if it was to the same level of degraded experience.

Something has definitely been weird lately. Our TTT prog last night was an absolute and utter nightmare. 2 hours and 20 minutes just to clear one vet run (we have the hard mode and speed run done already so clearly we're capable and not complete idiots, just working on that whole "don't die" part now). Cleared all saved video from Battle Scrolls add-on, since we know that can be an issue. And we know to expect some stuff like people making mistakes or bad RNG at times (like a spinner popping up mid-group during second boss, etc).

Last night felt like the whole trial was cursed, though. Maybe we should have reset instance, but besides some lag issues there were strange behavioral problems at times or like some actions were simply not registering properly. On triplets when tanks have to swap bosses to avoid instant death, my partner and I were successfully swapping. We'd see the opposite-taunted boss coming to the correct tank/attacking them/clearly have the aggro and yet one or the other or both of us would die as if the taunt swap mechanic never happened. I started to feel like I was losing my mind, to be perfectly honest.

Then on execute on final boss, main tank pops barrier. Sees it goes off, hears it goes off, he was in same group position as always that has worked in the past... and not a single one of us received that barrier. Literally ended up as a group wipe as the healer did not have barrier in time to try and save the run so we had to do final boss all over again, and then barrier decided to work on the last pull.

I am guessing maybe "actions not registering" could also be considered a lag-related issue but my God. Last night was unreal and about the most not-fun I've had on this game, though we did at least try to have good spirits about it being the most "cursed" thing we have ever witnessed and blamed the recent patch plus event nonsense.
