And while we are at, why not put the leads for such antiquities into coffers from PvP ToT matches. That will make this inconvenient for even more people.

They already put leads into ToT games. They may not be PvP games but I'd much rather go excavate in Cyrodiil than play the 60+ games of ToT it took me find one lead for a music box.

And I would prefer the opposite. So, why add more PvE content where it does not belong which definitely would draw a negative response?

Who said PvE doesn't belong in Cyrodiil? There are many quests in towns etc. in Cyrodiil that don't involve PvPing. There are resources in Cyrodiil, and delves and dolmens and skyshards and lorebooks that don't require PvPing. All things we find in PvE zones now, so they could be considered PvE activities.

Sure, it'll be fun being halfway through digging up an antiquity and then getting killed by someone!

    (sarcasm)

I really think the odds are against that happening very often.

Once would be too much. I remember how annoying it was to dig up antiquities in Telvanni Peninsula before they changed the behaviour of the thingies there (forget the name), so they didn't attack unless provoked.

We can't use Mementos in Cyrodiil, so actually finding the dig site will be much harder, since we don't get to use the Antiquarian's Eye to point us in the right direction.

They can, and maybe they should, add more leads for antiquities in Cyrodiil and the Imperial City-- antiquities which would be dug up in other zones.

But digging up antiquities in Cyrodiil or the Imperial City wouldn't work, if only because we can't use mementos there.

And even if they made a special exception for the Antiquarian's Eye and gave us invulnerability while digging up antiquities, it would add unnecessary processing to the PvP servers.

So it might sound like a nice idea on paper, but I don't think it would fly in the real world.

Why has Cyrodiil—of all places—been left without a single scryable treasure? Is it oversight, or is there lore behind this silence?

    Tiny population cap.

One of the biggest if not biggest zones in the whole game, you would think some scryable treasure must be left to find

Well, Treasure Maps are not as exciting as Antiquities, but it's not untrue to say there is treasure to dig up in Cyrodiil.

If 50 players per alliance want to go to Cyro just to dig up an antiquity you are going to stack the queue which has a cap of 120 per alliance.

On the one hand, I see the argument for a PvE only version of Cyrodiil to get the PvE players out of the PvP queue. There's only so many slots that can be filled, and I'd much rather my team have people at least trying to participate in PvP than have a sizeable percentage of my alliance not helping at all.

But on the other hand, Cyrodiil is currently a war zone. There should be genuine risks for wandering about it. And to really sell the idea that all players in Cyrodiil should help in the Alliance War in some way, all Scrying dig sites should only show up behind the gates of the enemy factions.

Would render a large chunk of the map pointless, as well as the towns.

Not to be that guy but Blackwood, West weald and gold coast are all cyrodil, as we know from Oblivion.

Sigh, people that don't PvP say they can't do it, but in reality it is easy to get around Cyrodiil without getting killed.

I don't think they should make a pve version of Cyro. Im not a pvper but I don't think they should do that. Or the imperial city. You want stuff from there, the risk is pvp. Full stop.

Now I do, however, support a different idea. I think that they should take a part of Cyro or take the ice and make a doc that has moved the clock forward to the end of the 3 banners war and have the rebuilding of the city. Doesn't have to be world ending deadric threats, but political intrigue and infighting, maybe the beginning of a cold war. End the 3 banners war arc finally and move ESO to the next thing. That's how I would've capped the 10 year anniversary, myself but that's just one guys opinion.

We do not say that we can't do it. After all, we did it for lorebooks/fishing etc. But being "blind" to the surroundings while excavating and not having access to mementos (Scrying Eye) is not something I would like to experience in game.

Just to add. Early on in digging there were a few spots where mobs would attack and you had to break from the dig (failing it) or die. Rather than making you hidden/immune while digging ZOS just moved the mobs further away from those sites.

Normally, I'd agree with you but considering the miserable population cap combine with the stress that the server already can't handle I don't see the need to aggravate the wound here.

They've already made their bed in that some of this stuff exists in a zone that is already taxed so I understand why they'd be hesitant to change that now. But, I'm willing to be that a part of the reason they are talking about an all new PvP now is so that they can start fresh without any extra fluff. I'd expect that if Cyrodiil turned into a true ghost town then down the road they might actually consider doing away with it altogether in its current form.
