It’s time for some suggestions

alright, I’ve thought of various suggestions that would make the game more special and neat for players.. and throughout that time, I have submitted tickets/feedback suggestions in-game. I finally am throwing a list together that I will update and add future suggestions to as a consolidated list.

List:

-a feature to allow players to buy ESO+ tokens and trade/gift them to other players. This is great for introducing a new friend to ESO+ or helping out an old friend in need of a little extra help this month. Additionally, this can be a solid source of revenue to the game in which players can buy these tokens and trade them for gold in-game. Players who otherwise would never buy ESO+ can get it through in-game work, while ZoS still maintains the same income per subscriber (just via a different player). RuneScape for example allows you a similar method, but once you buy this token, you receive a tradable item in-game that can be posted on community traders. Highly recommend!

-a wayshrine furnishing. A furnishing to allow for players to exit a home to any wayshrine they choose. This would be a great furnishing to offer as a quarterly event reward OR sell directly for a large sum of crowns to guilds.

-always on mount animations. The ability to maintain mount “rear up” animations. Some of the older radiant apex mounts feature a nice animation that does not stay up for very long. This can COMPLETELY change a mount from something awesome to something bleh depending on the specific mount. I know server load is a hot topic, so maybe we could prohibit this setting in cyrodiil. As of now.. rearing up is still something people do often enough in most places, so I don’t believe it’s a huge ask since not a lot will change.

-account wide armory slots that are more expensive. Maybe you could sell an account-wide armory slot that’s more expensive than the single character one we have now. I don’t buy these ever, so I may not be in the market consumer you’re selling to, but I would absolutely buy all of them if you had an option for account-wide.. even if it was a bit more expensive. Call me crazy, but 5,000 crowns per account-wide armory slot would even be a consideration.. while it may be a bit harder to swallow for many players.

-maybe a crown token that can be purchased with one account (say 1000 crowns per token) and then traded to another player who can then “use” the token and get the 1000 crowns on their account to prevent scamming during gifts. There could even be a tax on top. Say I had 2,000 crowns. I’d be able to buy one of these tokens with crowns or even one of a few different options (1,000/10,000) and receive a physical item that can be traded in-person or via guild traders. This will sink gold into more revenue for ZoS while significantly opening doors for players to feel safe trading gold for gifted items. Even if ZoS wanted to put 10% tax each time the token was purchased to prevent fraud/manipulation/etc: you could charge 1,100 crown for a 1,000 crown token.

-chat system set up to carrying over and into character selection screen. It would be so nice to not lose messages when switching characters. Even if it pulled us out from getting new messages, maintaining a history of whispers could be instrumental in re-connecting with someone after “swapping”. Many times I’ve lost that connection when someone needed help and I needed to switch roles. Also, if I need to switch characters while in a conversation in guild.. I would love to not play the wait and swap until a moment you don’t think people will type something right away (as to not miss something and seemingly ignore someone).

-a customizable polymorph, such as a ghost that matches the costume and character customization but all blue like other drowned ghosts. This polymorph itself doesn’t need to be customizable.. but to carry over things like costumes or body marks or skins albeit while polymorphed. So a good example would be like a drowned ghost.. maintaining your male/female choice, your costume, your hair style, other character customizable features, and so on. This obviously wouldn’t be for previous polymorphs, but could open up a new polymorph genre for future releases.

-maybe an eleven or twelve piece set that lets you toggle werewolf ult on and off without needing to farm ult and without a timer. This could be a REALLY nice set for those who like to roleplay more than push the hardest content. I’m not part of these communities, but there are a lot of them and it would be very functional for players to change into a werewolf without having to constantly stop the immersion to feed. This would even help non-roleplaying players: in dungeons it’s common to have someone who NEVER wants to stop being a werewolf. They are so far behind in the dungeon because of constant feeding and it creates tension because they want you to slow down (because they don’t want to walk around as a humanoid) and you want to run a dungeon that is not essentially three player.

-stacking surveys for redemption. Say you have 12x a summerset blacksmithing survey… each map would return 12x the allotted amount saving you from having to run back and forth to reset it 12 times. You still get all the resources from traveling to the specific point on the map, but saves you from resetting the resources 12 times. That’s such a chore….

-cross progression.. meaning champion points save across all platforms, crown store purchases (if possible or collectibles if not.. so houses, mounts, etc carried over across all platforms). Maybe achievements too if that’s not too big of a task. This is a suggestion that is VERY dependent on how the game is coded. I already know that there is an account server of sorts, and so why is really like to see is things like champion points, crown store mounts, maybe even achievements/skins, houses would be soooo nice (not necessarily even furnished, but just purchased so I don’t have to buy them multiple times… not that I do, but this is a big reason for not being willing to play on a different platform).

-a cp 3600 mount. Just some special way to recognize all that work. As of now cp3600 is just ehh. A mount would be such a nice little way to recognize some of your most dedicated player-base.

-a “catch all champion passive” in each tree that goes up indefinitely and offers a very minuscule buff (think .01% extra gold find for green, .01% damage/defense/lifesteal(reaving blows kind)/or recovery type passive for blue, and .01% recovery buff or movement speed or similar for red). This would be instrumental in cp3600 players as well, because all my characters just have about 75 green, 680 blue, and 508 red UNSPENT champion points, which feels very lackluster.

-a champion point to reduce research times.

-Caldwell as a companion. Enough said.

-a vanishing dye (similar to Diablo 3) that could remove entire parts of armor. Soooooo many costumes are ruined by one little part. So, I have a real problem in ESO. I LOVE the detail put into the player skins. I collect them, I wear them, but I can never really display them well enough. There is ALWAYS something small off about the costume or outfit I make. Having a vanishing dye would go soooo far in key little places. Adding the “hide shoulders” collectible was a HUGE change that I used to vanishing dye in Diablo 3 for the most, but there are times I don’t like the extra parts of a costume/outfit.. think wristbands and clothing that covers the shins that isn’t attached to the main piece of clothing. And on that front… PLEASE design some legs/pants/bottoms that show off all the hard work and creativity of skins. The styles completely negate customizable outfits that have any sort of decent looking bottoms. 95% of the time I have to use a costume rather than an outfit SIMPLY because there are no leg options. Also… can you add a toggle to “Carnaval Celebrant” to remove that huge flower. Maybe categories that as a shoulder?? That costume would be perfect for displaying certain skins but completely is ruined by the “showgirl” aspect of the petal.

-the ability to use costume part combined with outfit styles to better build a unique look. As it sits now, skins have so much detail but finding the perfect outfit to display those detailed artworks is very hard. And as stated above, there are NO leg options outside of costumes. AND this would be sooo nice to customize costume styles by combining two or three different costumes into a really unique option. No more will you see the same costume everywhere.

-sets to support crafting/gathering/non-combat. Think COMPLETELY non-combat sets. Every bonus is strictly geared towards a specific style of play that is not combat: movement speed, gold find, gathering booster of some sort. Essentially there is a huge market that is so far left un-tapped and this could add a lot of very awesome options that will really get a large group excited. You could have a crafted set with smaller bonuses, a dungeon set with stronger buffs, and a trials set and even perfected options to really open a whole new world of gear. I’d love to see something like: 2pc: 1% speed boost, 3pc 1% gold find, 4pc, extra lock picking time, 5pc when you loot a container you have a 5% chance to cause an explosion of gold around you. These 5pc bonuses could be so exciting!
Think things like:
“when x, you cause a goblin hoarder to spawn”
“when you gather a resource, you cause x to happen”
“when you when you catch a fish, you have a 1% chance to filet all fish in your inventory automatically”
“when you craft an item you have a 1% chance to save 50% of the base material cost needed (12 leather goes down to 6 leather)”
“when you craft a glyph you have a 5% chance to create an extra one”
“when you pick up a resource, you gain major expedition for 15 seconds”
“when you research an item, you have a 10% chance to reduce the research time”
“when you sell an item to a merchant, you have a 10% chance to get double the gold”
“when you open a daily reward coffer, you have a 1% chance to get a second drop (whether just a zone gear piece or full benefit such as motif and so on”
“on successfully unlocking a chest you gain 25% increased gold find for 30 minutes”
“you attract a companion squirrel who follows you and has a chance to periodically finds you provisioning materials”
“when entering combat, you have a 50% chance to stun and break combat-locks (can stealth or mount or so on) for 3 seconds” (for gathering purpose, can’t be used in PVP/dungeons/trials)
AND these are just SOME of the super fun and cool ideas you could introduce as 5-piece bonuses for a whole new line of gear tailored towards non-combat players. If other players have set ideas, PLEASE post them below!! Whether it’s a 5pc bonus level or just a 2pc/3pc/4pc. Additionally maybe there could be an 11 or 12 piece set for non-combat and/or gathering buffs.

-A way for guilds to track dues and even better if you can implement a system to automatically grant and remove access based on dues paid or not.

THATS ALL FOR NOW! Thanks for reading and supporting and commenting to add your very own exciting ideas!

Edit:
A couple community suggested ones I want to highlight as well (THANK YOU!):

-portal furnishing to transport a player from a given spot to another spot within the housing instance.

-the ability to pick where players spawn/enter in a player house.

-a weekly highlight on a zone to encourage higher player count for that zones dailies.

The Werewolf Transformation timer should be paused while not in combat.

This would allow werewolves to not worry about feeding when running long distances (such as between keeps in Cyrodiil or between mob groups in dungeons) but still require them to participate in the timer minigame when there are actually enemies present. This would also allow roleplayers to maintain form when roleplaying in cities. Also, if Werewolf is allowed to sneak in the future, having the timer paused while out of combat would allow them to spend more time on Heists and Sacraments.

I don't want to waste all of my Item Set slots for this, though. The Salvation set goes unused because nobody has a use for Ultimate while transformed, and the bonus for being transformed is miniscule. The proposed 12-piece set would be a worse version of Salvation.

Some nice ideas! I especially like the ability to put a wayshrine in your house. Proximity to a wayshrine is the first and most important thing I look for when considering a house. Plenty of nice houses in the reject bin due to lousy wayshrine access.

Fix the Timbercrow Wanderer costume diaper butt.

Stop putting flappers on chest pieces. Put them on belts.

Stop putting silly-ankle-to knee socks on short skirts. Currently, Mazzatun is (I think) the only short skirt free of this sandal-killing dumb idea.

Let us take companions in houses.

Let us put headgear on companions (helms, circlets).

Ooh I really like this idea as well! There are a lot of chest styles that have weird waist pieces that disqualify the chest from the look I was going for. Maybe even an option to hide those, or at the very least like you’ve said.. put them on the belts to allow for greater customization and styling.

Interesting ideas! As I've said on some similar posts though, making these lists of tons of varied ideas makes them difficult to discuss and also likely difficult for a developer reading the forum who sees tons of ideas all the time. It might be better to focus on a couple things at a time or make a couple different, smaller posts of ideas focused on particular areas of the game.

I'll respond to a couple though!

As someone who's very into housing, I'd love to see a wayshrine furnishing and other more interactive housing features like a portal furnishing to move from one area of the house to another, a master switch to turn on all or a group of lights, a combat dummy that can do more than just stand still (such as fighting back, being set to do certain mechanics to allow a player to practice those, etc.), a house or with group dueling support, more houseguest interactions and options (such as being able to have them sit or emote). Especially with another big mmo coming out with a housing system, eso needs to innovate its housing or risk falling behind.

A better crown trading system has been brought up a number of times and would be a great addition as well.

As for cross progression, they have confirmed they're working on some sort of crossplay but we don't really know the details of how that would work yet. Maybe we'll hear more about this next year.
    [snip]

Just imagine responding this way to someone discussing a video game on a forum dedicated to discussing said video game. Who exactly do you think you are to tell others how they should spend their time? Especially people you know nothing about? Food for thought - maybe someone can't "go out and walk" right now due to injury, or health issues, or weather, or having to care for a child or elderly parent, or a million other things. Maybe someone just got back from a 5 mile run and they want to wind down playing and thinking about their favorite game. Maybe eso is someone's escape from difficult life circumstances at the moment. Maybe it's a simply a fun thing to do on a quiet weekend afternoon, much like watching a movie or reading a book.

But if it upsets you that people on a forum are discussing the topic of that forum, it seems like you might want to consider following your own "advice".

I'd love this, and from the regularity in which this gets requested through the years, it'd be a popular addition.

Seconding AcadianPaladin's suggestion to let companions follow us into our houses. Maybe they can even make a remark when they enter.

I personally wish the werewolf ultimate didn't have a timer and just allowed us to activate it and it just stayed up until the player toggles it off. I think the timer is a crazy mechanic.

I am all for this, or similar. English is not my native language, and asking for a specific item to be gifted in *English* when my game is in french is a major barrier.
And there's the possibility of the scam.
ZOS listen, I will make then gold precisely just so that people could sell their crowns they paid, to YOU. Good business for you.

    Good suggestions so far there.

You're not the only one who thinks the timer should be removed. I know several Werewolf players who dislike it as well.

I personally think removing the timer is another decent alternative. I've suggested that Vengeance Werewolf Transformation (when it's implemented) be designed without the timer, since several of the Werewolf passives are designed around the timer mechanic, and playing Werewolf without passives is unsustainable.

Though, I see why the timer is there thematically. Before Skyrim introduced the transformation timer, you couldn't manually transform into a werewolf, as you'd automatically shapeshift every full moon (Daggerfall) or every night (Morrowind). Additionally, you would be debuffed if you didn't kill someone while transformed, to force you into the archetype of a murderous werewolf.

Skyrim's implementation allowed you to choose when you transform, but it still has a cooldown (can only transform once a day) and a motivation to fall into that "murderous werewolf" archetype (you would lose form if you didn't feed on slain bodies). ESO directly copies from Skyrim's implementation, allowing players to transform with Ultimate (with the "cooldown" being in the cost of the Ultimate — currently 400 Ultimate for the unmorphed version!) and giving players a motivation to fall into that archetype.

But ESO does a little more that just encourage werewolves to Devour enemies. The Blood Rage passive encourages them to constantly attack, and the Call of the Pack passive encourages them to group with other transformed werewolves, as a "pack". In this sense, the transformation timer is primary motivation for werewolves to act like werewolves.

I'd suggest these passives be reworked slightly, if the timer is to be removed. Devour is still good as a corpse consuming channeled max health scaling heal over time. Blood Rage might instead apply the Terrified effect to a damaged target, removing it from Ferocious Roar (please find another way to get damage dealer and tank werewolves to group together, ZOS). And Call of the Pack might instead offer a passive increase to Magicka Recovery for each transformed werewolf in your group, to allow them to howl with Hircine's Bounty more often — as wolf packs are known to do. Magicka for the heal is also really hard to come by in Werewolf form, so anyone who's serious about playing a Werewolf will want as much Magicka Recovery as they can get, so they will group with as many werewolves as they can.

The wayshrine furnishing is on my top requests list!

I would also love portals in large houses to travel from one area to another or just to build up, portal into a tower or floating platform.

Regarding tokens, maybe, but this has to be made in a way that doesn't destroy the game economy, so everyone has to buy tokens to afford things in game.

On the vanishing dye, I am not sure the engine supports such a thing, but what I suggested a long ago is to move the floating flaps and the crotch rag to the belt piece. It sounds easy, however it might be very complicated technically. For me, the flaps and how all the skirts minus one have socks, are a major let down. Anyway, this can be changed more easily, by adding armor pieces which fit these criterias, like an almost naked chest piece, shirts or coats with no flaps, skirts or short trousers without socks etc. These suggestions are quite old, so I doubt ZOS will care now.

Ah, and one more thing.. regarding houses, I would really want to link houses with portals or doors, and pick the area where the character will spawn. The entry point is another topic I would like to see addressed. Maybe I want to be teleported inside, or in the back yard (the Gonfalon Bay house, the Alinor house), or in the lighthouse, cave etc... This shouldn't be so hard to implement.

We need a function that saves our costume 'builds', like the polymorph idea OP mentioned, or something like a Mannequin that we place inside our house, and when we interact with it, it contains a number of presets that each can save a particular fashion ensemble, with a costume, hat, body markings, hair and so on, so that you don;'t have to do it from scratch every time you want to change your costume. Similar to the outfit slots, but for things in the appearance category, like costumes, hairs, personality, markings, etc.

    A couple of suggestions:

    1. A rotating "focus DLC zone" that offers incentives to do the dailies there. Right now, if you need to kill WBs or do incursions in some DLC zones, it's difficult because nobody's doing them. ZOS occasionally does zone events, but nowhere near frequently enough. I'd suggest having one DLC focus zone a month. Not a full-blown event with event tickets and all, but maybe beefed up rewards for that month in the daily reward coffers, or something else that will entice players to do the dailies in that zone during that month. Maybe probabilities of leads, recipes, furniture patterns, etc. could be increased in that zone for the month. Maybe there's some new shinies offered in those reward coffers for a month, or fragments that you can collect that will get you something cool at month's end. Anything to encourage people to spend a little time there, but low pressure. Not a monthly grind, but something to encourage people to do stuff in the zone, even if just for a few days. It would also help players questing through the zone and such who need to get some of this stuff done.

    2. Refresh rewards for events and other things. We just had the Witches event, and I think longtime players are tired of getting the same old rewards. But it's not limited to the Witches Festival. The rewards are getting really tired and need another look - for events, for dailies, for everything, really.

In addition to this, I'd like to see ZOS take another crack at stacking surveys. The envelope method is okay for master writs, but doesn't work as well for surveys. Unless you open every envelope, how can you even stack those in the same zone? And opening every envelope kind of defeats the purpose. Also, it creates an extra step because the envelopes are stored under the "Supplies" section (I believe), but the surveys are under "Slottable Items". Right now, using a gamepad, I have to go into Inventory->Supplies, open an envelope, back out, and go into Slottable Items" to see the survey. And if I want to see if I have other surveys in the same zone, well, yeah. Horrible. Why can't they just be stacked like everything else? And there's no way, AFAIK, to see what's in the envelope and remove a specific survey. Even that would be an improvement. Could we have a survey container (similar to rewards containers), that we can open up and view surveys and remove specific ones?

Wow really nice write up. Every suggestion you mentioned I support. Well done :)

I would really love for ESO plus members to no longer have a cap on transmute gems. With the new seasons model and ESO plus losing some of its luster, this would be such a small but impactful addition they could add to the membership.

For those of us happy to slow level under Lv50 characters, is the following change possible?
When at the Hall of Refined Techniques, let an under L50 character reconstruct a mythic at their current level.
    For now, this isn't possible.
Under L50 chars can reconstruct dungeon/overland sets to their level (if trait known and transmutes available) but not mythics.
Is it possible to remove this restriction?

I agree that this would be a nice option to have even if you want to power level… I assume the reason they don’t has to do with sub-50 PVP play.. but I’d love to see them just bar mythics from that rather than restrict everyone. Again.. purely assumptions, but I do think a sub-50 mythic would be so nice for those who want to really start a new, slower, exciting adventure again on a new character.

This is definitely a pain point for me as well, but I’m fine to get a little bit of gold clearing up a little space for more transmutes. I definitely would like to have the flexibility to feel comfortable enough to be able to change gear as freely as I can and a higher transmute cap would allow me to experiment with more sets

    1. A rotating "focus DLC zone" that offers incentives to do the dailies there.

Honestly, this is a really good idea too! They could add it to the weekly leaderboard mechanic where a zone might offer double drops for completing dailies in that zone for the week.
