Writhing Wall Event: What do you like about it?

At first the camp defense missions were fun and the crafting was convenient. They're not so much anymore. The vitrified souls and materials collection missions were bad from the start.

It's gone on too long. The content should be fully accessible on the release date. If it isn't accessible, I don't consider it to be released.

I love the challenge the siege camps provide. I'm not sure I could solo them with any of my characters.
I love the challenge that the new bosses inside delves and such provide.

I like that it's reasonably good Exp for something that isn't explicitly an Exp grind. I took the opportunity to level up some less used subclassing skill lines while farming rewards.

Honestly the concepts seem good on paper, it just seems like it needed maybe 3-4x more development time.

Same here, after finding out just how much XP the crafting quests gave, I converted four alts to no points spent in the crafting line except for the hirelings. This is so I can use up the 20K plus level one crafting mats that only require 3 or 4 per item at that low level. The rewords have been 90% CP150/CP160 crafting mats. Using four characters, I manged to level one subclass skill to level 50 in a few days and all one side of morphs added a couple more days to that. I also use the huge stack of 100% XP scrolls to speed things up a bit.

I like how nice the Stirk Fellowship Motif is and that it dropped at a high enough rate that I was able to quickly get into the spirit of the event by using it. I have been using my mage's guild girlie for it rather than my main because I just feel like she'd be the one most involved. And I like how nicely the motif dyes, it really makes her look like a guild mage participating in this fellowship. I like how many people are participating. I like the looks of the camps and Meridian lens. I also find the NPC outfits being bugged to be so fun and funny. The random outfits that can spawn are great.

After I read this, I checked out the Stirk Fellowship style more closely and decided to do the same thing with my character I’m using for the event. They were very excited to have a new outfit after all of this time, so that’s one more thing I do like about the event!

And another thing I realized I liked… just a little ways into the event. I decided I was doing it on the wrong character, but the character I really wanted to do it on had not finished the original Fighter’s Guild chain, and had not finished the original main quest, although they had at least made it to the Coldharbour stage so it was pretty easy to finish up. And I really wanted to have that done first, so I finished both quest chains, then did the Solstice prologue, and went right into the Solstice main quests. Doing all of that together and having the older stuff fresh in my mind made me realize how nice the new quests fit with the original quest chains, something I didn’t quite realize the first time I did the Solstice quests.

i like that i have extra stuff to do.

i like that the phases of the Writhing Wall event have little differences like the defense towers growing. Writhing Fortress from phase 3 seems awesome too, but i wish it stayed after the event.

i like the rewards, the furniture especially.

I think the new furnishing recipes are really cool, but the drop rate (made more complicated by the diluted pool table of the added quests) makes them super hard to get, which is a big downside. I also like the Meridia Lens structure and visual, I just wish the beam was consistent to feel more immersive. The new incursions are also cool, but I imagine they will be very tedious to do post-event when population dwindles, and feel bad for future players having to clear the achievements associated with them.

Today started with me realizing I look forward to doing all my Event dailies.
I have not done 24 dailies every day, nor I've done them on multiple characters, so that's probably why I didn't burn out.

Phase 2 was a bit of a let down on consoles, but now I can see the "server participation" element and I am really enjoying the lengthiness of this event, even wishing it wouldn't stop. I dread the day it will end and Tamriel will return to feel empty of players like it was before this event started, with me wandering around trying to find something to do.

So, while initially I was negative, this event has grown on me - to phase 3! :)

Everything I can think of on this topic has already been said:
It is once in a lifetime.
We never have to repeat this again and won’t be tricked into another content pass.
I like that its a once in a lifetime event.
    Dont need two trainwrecks.
I have nothing to add to that... except...

The only thing I like about it is that one day it will end and we will finally get to Eastern Solstice.

You mean we will finally get the content we paid for? LOL

I will say that I like the fact that it is a community event. Thats really the most positive thing I can say about it.

I like that they have the crafting dailies. It’s well suited for the story, helping get the fighters equipped with gear, provisions, and potions.

I also like the new furnishing plans from the crafting dailies. I hope to get the new purple ones but they haven’t dropped for me yet.

The furnishing drops from delve and public dungeon bosses are nice, again I hope to get some purple ones (other than the cage) soon.

As mentioned it is also nice that those who didn’t buy the content can participate too.

    1. ZOS is trying something new
    2. The fact that it's not totally paywalled
    3. The golden pursuit campaign & it's associated awards
    4. The loot that is unique to the event (furnishing plans, haj mota, & skill style)
    5. The new motif & style pages
    7. The variety of different mini bosses at siege camps
    8. The attempt to make it look like the main camp is getting built up
    9. The actual aesthetics of the wall (even though we've been enjoying it since June)
    10. Edit: One more! The Meridian laser beam looks and sounds cool

Overall, I'd say they got the unique rewards on point, but the gameplay is disappointing.

I'd give this event a 3/10, but it isn't hopeless or pointless; it's just half baked.

Yah, I've levelled up a lowbie a few times just from doing the 6 x crafting per day on her. Given I've not a lot of time for the "grind", that's been worth the small time it's taken. She doesn't have a companion, so my 10 mins a day has been productive--for her.

TBH, I had to scrape to come up with that one, though. When I heard about the "once in a lifetime event", knowing I'd be having an operation and hospital stay halfway through it, I was concerned I'd miss the important stuff. That hasn't been the case, nothing important to miss. :D

I do not like anything about it! It is not fun! I find myself having a more and more frustrating experience in recent days since this last patch instead of enjoying the game.

Between the major poopy grind of the event without worth while rewards. (I found out from content creator Spopes that ZOS has been actively throttling back PC NA progress) and the changes to combat animations so that old gen consoles can still run the game. Which has made the game unplayable at times, making abilities not work at all most of the time and bar swapping freezes and getting randomly kicked from the game continuously with out being able to log back in for up to 15 to 20 minutes at times. And temporarily banning you from PVP and dungeon ques when you do get back in for up to 30 minutes.

ESO is currently just not a fun game to play. It's just an exercise in frustration and patience!

I like that ZoS is trying something new. This was pretty bumpy, but if they really end up being more responsive to bugs and QoL issues, it might be worth it.
I like that it's reasonably good Exp for something that isn't explicitly an Exp grind. I took the opportunity to level up some less used subclassing skill lines while farming rewards.
This. I, too, have used them to level a bunch of unused skills.
But the fact that there are 3 each of the blacksmithing/woodworking/clothing quests, but only 1 each of Alchemy/Enchanting/Provisioning really needs to be adjusted.
I do hope they add a merchant, banker, and daily crafting boards after the event. This would be a good crafting location, and give some variety away from the popular West Weald/Blackwood/Vvardenfell sites.

I absolutely love the Wormwrithe style. That blue edging? A nice variety from Dro-m'Athra.
I have Wormwrithe on an Orc wearing the new Hidden Kindred Crate purple skin, Phantasma of Terror, with all channels set as the purple Dolorous Indigo.

The stirk fellowship motif is pretty good, too.

I like the siege camps as well, although I don't think they're as original as harrowstorms or mirrormoors.
I'm curious how solo-able they'll be when the crowds are gone. I can solo a mirrormoor, or a volcanic vent, but I don't think I can solo a harrowstorm. I haven't tried in awhile.

But the 12 DPS loot limit is a problem, as always. In zone chat on PS-NA the other day, someone complained that the groups were getting all the boss drops. Someone else popped up and said "The boss has DROPS?" Multiple people then exclaimed about it, and learned about the 12 DPS limit. There was a fairly involved round of "what the ----?" after that.
OTOH, there was then a round of "LFG," so ... yay?

the things i do like about this event:
    • quick dailies to get gold boxes (takes me on avg 15 min to do all 3 gold boxes)
    • allowing more than 1 siege camp daily made it significantly easier to progress the "do 30 incursions in zone" achievement
    plays PC/NA

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

I am very schizophrenic about this event and I have spewed all over it here in the forums, but not all is bad.

I like the idea of it, the build up to something greater, the changes in the camp as we progress and my rng has been pretty good so I have made more money than ever.

I also like that it's a good way to level up my new characters.

I like the sieges, they are fun, when there's not too many people around.
When the European players log on en masse, the lag becomes unbearable and finally I crash, which usually means that I am done for the day.

BUT, it could have been so much better with a few tweaks.
