I see people arguing about PvE, and I see people arguing about PvP battles… so I need to ask: ZoS, what in the world have you done to this game??

GG ZoS! GG!!

Would that be better if nobody were arguing at all? Wouldn’t that mean a dead game?

If ppl are arguing it means they are invested / engaged with the game and care about its future. All good imo

I'm having fun playing the game,
I'm having fun chatting on Discord with the people I met in-game,
I'm having fun adding features to addons & fixing things,
I'm even having fun finding and reporting bugs to ZOS (some take 6 months to be fixed and don't even appear in the patch notes, but hey, they are fixed).

What is absolutely spoiling the fun is the part of this community always complaining in a spectacular way, I mean, there are people posting very detailed and argumented complaints leading to long and rich debates which will probably influence ZOS' choices and there are the 2 or 3 liners "YOU COMPLETELY RUINED THE GAME" ones poping with each update, each change, each new feature in a "scream at the stray dog invading your backyard" tone which are a never ending torture for the brain.

A lot of the suggestions and criticisms here over the years have been from players who think that because "Feature X" is in their favourite Guild WoWs XIV game it must also be introduced into ESO, but ESO is ESO and a lot of people have played it over the years precisely because of that. If they had wanted to play some other game they'd have done so. Some of us are criticised for opposing suggested changes, but we are simply guilty of liking the game as it is and so we are likely to disagree with most of the criticisms of the game and the related changes that get suggested. That leads to a healthy discussion which is in itself good for the game.

I personally dislike some aspects of the game, some of them original features like the guild trader system, others more recent like account-wide achievements, but so long as the game continues to tick enough boxes for me then I'll continue both to play it and to subscribe to it (on multiple accounts).

Agree! I was just about to say - a lot of ya just complain TOOOO MUCH - it is a game - not your job.

I also really believe that some people have no other direction - so this is their whole thing - but games aren't meant to be your whole personality.

Arguing, especially over minor details, isn't a sign of a bad game.

It's a sign of the evolution of our Culture.

Arguing is not a bad thing tbh. It shows people are still passionate about the game. Its how different ideas are vetted and discussed. Basically, the players do the dev's work of debating various ideas, points, or features of the game and the devs can see how these ideas are received and can potentially use them as jumping boards for future changes and updates.

After nearly 50 years of gaming, and having been around computers since 1987 (my first PC was a Schneider with green-screen DOS) I can confidently say that no game series has ever meant more to me than The Elder Scrolls. I grew up with these games, and they became part of who I am. But let me tell you this: ever since I stopped playing the version of ESO we have today, it feels like a part of me has completely died.

I love The Elder Scrolls Online. I truly do. And that’s why it pains me to say that I hate what the game has become. I don’t blame the developers, they’re doing what they can. I blame the company, the ones with the real power. They could choose to build something great, something lasting, but instead they’ve chosen profit over passion, and that decision is destroying the soul of the game.

    EDIT:
But you know… sooner or later we learn to live with the loss of someone we love. The pain never truly leaves, but life keeps moving forward, and somehow, we keep growing with it. I carry no regrets, only a quiet sorrow for what was taken from me, not by my own choices, but by the hands of others.

TBH I'm just glad they moved Scribing to F2P.

Gives them room to make expansion locked scribing skills (instead of the whole system locked behind Gold Road) that may expand upon abilities without needing to create whole entire classes to fit them in while also locking them behind those classes.

Subclassing is another step in that regard to sell chapters, like Arcanist. But Scribing is much more granular.

    The game is great.
One thing they need to do is do away with the guild traders and make a market board in all the big cities.(like all other MMOs)
Then this forum would be flooded with the guild owners, who gauge people for money so they can monopolize traders, complaining.
Now that would be funny !!!

I’m still enjoying the game as much as I did when I first joined during beta. I’m sorry it no longer holds the magic that it used to for some people, but it still holds it for me.

Edited to add: It could be a lot worse. At least ESO is still here in case anyone who stops playing changes their mind and wants to give it another try. I still recall how bad I felt when NCSoft announced that it was shutting down my most favorite game City of Heroes. I actually called my spouse and I was so upset they thought someone had died. When they could finally understand me and realized it was “just” a game, they didn’t understand the sense of loss I was feeling, and still feel to this day. I know, some enterprising people brought the game back on private servers and I gave it a try, but it just wasn’t the same. My heart had already moved on to ESO, and that’s where it is now.

i'm confused. first yoiu ask what happened to our game and then you asked what happened to the game? I'm not sure you know which game you ar referring to. Asd i understand it it's zos's game and if we wish to play it we may. That's been my understanding for years and i think zos has said as much directly. That said zos keeps making decisions to add things to the game that dont appeal to me, like scrying and scribing and arcanist and so forth but i just don't play them. No sense coming to the forums about things that def arent going to change. They flat out refuse to fix chakram shields blocking the view and throwing off eye tracking in first person view for example. Just they refuse to even try. They want fancy cheap effects that add nothing to the game and actually interfere with game play because: wow aint that so fancy! It's their game. It's never been an our game as far as i know.

People always argue, it's just a nature of things.

For example, I argue that the game is a MMO and doesn't have a single-player mode. I don't want any other people inside my game. They ruin my immersion and experience by simply being there. Every time I go for a delve or dungeon, when I see someone else is entering it, I just turn around and go somewhere else. I don't want any people roaming around my delves, dungeons and other places.

Thoughtful Constructive discussions and feedback are never bad things.

Also, the worst thing is not anger or hate, those show that people care. Apathy is the true killer of games.

This. I have seen forums where people aren't debating what's best for the game. They are usually dead and it's a big indicator a game is on its way out.

I'd worry if people were silent on these forums. Being vocal means people care, are still actively engaged in today and the future and all that.

    Housing is fun.

Questing is still fun. I do dailies in Skingrad, Leyawiin, Solitude and Necrom, um, daily.

Some world bosses are still fun and somewhat challenging.

Some dungeons are still fun even solo.

The social aspect is very good.

Pvp is still the best pvp I've ever played, even with all the problems.

Farming for mats and leads is still fun.

It's laggy and zos makes terrible balance decisions and design decisions but all in all the game is healthy and enjoyable.

I'll tell you what happens: 200 ms ping, skills that don't come out, block doesn't work, subclasses broke the game, pvp Cyrodiil suddenly crashes and the game closes, I only see green rays and necromancer golems everywhere.

Actually its nice idea to make (toggleable in settings) personal instances for delves/publics, like they do for some quests. Its just stupid when delve is empty and 10 players waiting for boss respawn, cause he drops some popular mythic lead.

Whose game? Serious question. Whose game is it. Is it for the ball groups and the meta killers in PvP who CC me, then hit with (5 to 7) 5k+ attacks chained to strike almost instantly? Is it for the people who spend a ton of money on the Crown store and then others who contribute in other ways like by spending a ton of time testing on PTS and then ALL of us get our feedback collectively ignored, for years... for years. Including minor quality of life features we would like to see. Just minor things like being able to change character hair color without paying for a token. :/

I'm glad to see you're engaging in a discussion then, perhaps the game isn't on life support yet.
