PTS Update 47 - Feedback Thread for Housing & Furnishings

This is the official feedback thread for the new houses and furnishings. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:

• What are your general thoughts on new houses?

The cottage and the chapel are easily amongst the most beautiful houses in game, and some of the best released in years, too. The chapel's mist and elevated location felt truly magical. I think people who wanted a dawnwood plot are going to be very excited by it, and how it's free. It was interesting to me to see just how decorated the wildgrown chapel was compared to previous years' morph houses. I'm certainly happy about the change, but it made me wonder if the house was intended to be a crown store home originally. On the cottage: I'm thrilled to see zenimax is responding to player requests for more and updated medium homes, which have the best ratio of furnishing limit to space in the game. The animals make the house feel unique, and as someone who loves the Gold Coast's place in the setting, I'm thrilled that it's getting a new house. I'm certainly going to buy it when it's available. I do wonder -- was a bed intended to go between these nightstands in the furnished version? I'm likely to buy it prefurnished, which is why I ask.



The new Sunport structural pieces (walls, floors, doors, stairs, windows) are a fantastic addition to the Alinor tileset, and I really feel like the community was heard. Players have been wanting a completed Alinor tileset for years, and these are just beautiful additions. Same for the additional painting-related furnishings. It's just lovely that these requests are being fulfilled, and so well.

This isn't an urgent question or anything, just an idle musing, but I do wonder what portion of the housing community actually uses these Worm Cult/King of *** decorations. It feels like there's a surplus of furnishings that support decorating in a Slave-Lord style when I don't personally know anyone who's clamoring for those kinds of assets for their builds. Not that every dev hour needs to go into giving players everything they ask for, but when I think of underserved furnishing niches in ESO, I generally think of the Orc furnishings (we're never getting an updated set of Orc furnishings, are we?) over Molag Bal and his followers.

Hiddenspring Cottage.
i am happy to see another Classic Medium home!
• Awesome that it has a toggleable birdhouse for animals similar to Seabloom Villa's flower toggle.
• it is furnished really nicely, i love Gold Coast, and happy that there's bubbling brooks of water ^_^

Overgrown Chapel of Julianos.
Thankies for fulfilling my Dawnwood and Notable Bosmer dreams! and it's even up high in the trees.
• The Dawnwood overtaken Colovian mansion is wonderful, love that it is furnished even though it is an earnable home. And the numerous windows are great.
• The Julianos chapel is lovely, nice to see a built-in shrine/altar with a Julianos window!
- Cannot wait to add waterfalls and my favourite plants to this home.
- Both homes are new favourites, but Overgrown Chapel is genuinely a dream come true.


Furniture.
Love all of it.
• Especially happy to see a Vossa Satl instrument furnishing.
• More Dawnwood trees and overgrown Colovian wells are wonderful.
• Alinor/Sunport Tideborn structures are great. especially the Tideborn hut, very useful.
- we can add doors to Alinor style homes yippie ^_^
- an Alinor/Sunport roof would be very welcome too!
- Tideborn fruit bowl is lovely as it uses multiple of the new Solstice fruits.
• Thanks for the birdhouses! I've been awaiting them ever since seeing them in High isle in 2022.
• the Stirk Fellowship furniture is cool, i like that the ouroborus is used on banners and tents.
• the Drawbridge looks nice, first time for that kinda item.



One little repeated request as we got a few more West Weald furnishings:
please add Colovian and Dawnwood desks as furniture.
- there's rustic and noble Colovian desks in Skingrad buildings. the rustic desk is in this Concept art on the website too.

- Dawnwood desk that looks like a clothing station too, in Vashabar.

Thank you so much for adding the Sunport (Alinor) structural furnishings, especially the door. Oh my god finally I can put doors in the Alinor Townhouse

And the windows too! I can finally add windows to the downstairs interior of the Townhouse to not only match the outside, but also make the downstairs feel less like a dungeon. Tested out on PTS where I'd add them and it makes such a difference. Can't wait for the patch to drop on live.

Agree with Xencthlu and LunaFlora!

LOVE the new homes, especially the Dawnwood "Chapel"! I think it has something for everyone – from-scratch builders, decorators, Dawnwood and Colovian fans alike.

The new structures look great. Tide-Born are similar to Murkmire stuff but I like the new textures and colors, and that the pieces are so modular. Hope Grand Topal Hideaway returns soon! 🙏

Love the Tide-Born Hut and Fountain and that they're available for writs:

Stone-Nest Fountain, Triple Spout - Buggy visuals: I really like this fountain, but water animation is a bit strange. The splashes are intense and look stuttery, more explosive than splashy. And wish the texture of the falling water was clear, more like the "Waterfall, Small Everlasting". (But I know the overland assets look like this so maybe it can't be changed. Just saying FWIW.)

I do like some of the Worm Cult / Daedric items too! Especially this animated vial:

The crystal makes me really wish we had manual settings for interactibles for guests. I'm still downloading PTS, so I haven't had a chance to fully explore the new houses and furnishing yet.

However, I really wanted to say thank you for Sunport furnishing! I've wanting to build my own custom Alinor house for a long time and now I can finally make this happen! It would be great if the Alinor / Sunport roof tile can also be released - pretty please?!

There also seems to be lots of Tides-Borns tyle structural furnishing - which is another style home I fell in love with, so thank you! We now just need a nice plot in Solstice somewhere!

Very excited to see another new medium house being release as well! I hope we will get to see more in future with different racial style (would love non-mouldy Elsweyr medium home!)

The new morph seem to be brimming with potential! I look forward to see what everyone does with this house. All in all, excellent update from housing front

These two homes are gorgeous! I usually hide existing houses and build something new on top of them, but this cottage looks perfect as is. I am also really happy that we are finally getting Alinor structures. Though I would also like to have the roof pieces and these tiny decorative towers.

Finally Alinor windows!! And that staircase is beautiful!
And I‘m so glad we can now actually build in that style with proper walls and doors.

But did I see it right that there is only one direction for the staircase?
Could you add a second one that is heading to the left like with the Colovian ones, so it’s just mirrored? That would be awesome!

I am happy to get the high elf wooden door.
My high elf doorway was always blocked by Rough Planks.
I didn't think the noble high elf would allow that.

The update added a large tent, but not a small tent.
I would like a small tent for personal use.
A personal tent is required for solo travelers.

Any chance of getting a see through version of the new Sunport Windows? These stick on windows drive me nuts.

Also 1 REALLY IMPORTANT PIECE MISSING (especially for from scratch builders) We NEED a Sunport Bannister that matches the stair case. Or any upstairs areas won’t be safe. Please consider adding this.

Other than that, I’m really impressed. 26 new structural plans. Stepping it up. Good job.

Love the little animal summonings in the Hiddenspring Cottage, though they aren't toggling consistently. They seem biased towards getting stuck in an "on" position.

Both houses are very nice, I especially like the tower part of the Julianos Chapel because it has the layout and feel of abandoned forts in Oblivion (the game, not the plane).

One small thing that bothers me, similar to Merryvine Estate, is that the outside of the house doesn’t match the inside.





The outside has five windows for each panel while the inside only has three.

We can toggle vines on and off in player housing.

Now we can toggle birds on and off in player housing.

I'd like the ability to toggle off pre-existing buildings for all homes with outdoor areas. Instead, we'd get 700 furniture limit to build our own structures.

Please give us an open-air version of the Alinor windows.

Where there is opaque glass, simply remove it.

It should be a separate furnishing so players can choose of they want the opaque or open-air windows.

Bonus: A third Alinor window furnishing with transparent glass.

What do you think of the new furnishings?

They're great!

One issue with the Solstice Drawbridge is that the rope dangles beneath it when drawn, making it difficult to use upside-down. It would be nicer if the ropes went "inside" the bridge, so as not to be visible. In this screenshot, the bridge is upside-down:

Another issue is with the amazing Sunport Staircase, Curved. The small platform sticking out the top makes it harder to use with other furnishings. If the platform was gone or a lot smaller, that would make it way more usable:

Hiddenspring Cottage is picturesque. I really enjoyed the Bird House, the Feed Spot, and all of the animals. I wish you could go down to the lower area with the deer without dying but since it looks like it's an open area in at least one direction that's probably a no go.

Wildgrown Chapel of Julianos looks like it has tons of potential to build something wonderful with and I like the boat setup. However, the scale of building it into what I actually want might exceed the resources I am willing to put in and it may join all my other homes of comparable size that sit empty or as storage.

Curved Sunport Staircase should have had the square version, similar to alinor crest house (still curved but fits snuggly against square walls). This rounded version is going to be tough to use.

I am a bit late here...

I wanted to congratulate the choices for the Alinor theme. I have been waiting for 7 years to have doors, windows and other elements. In my opinion it is very late, even for a MMO, but I hope there will be an increased focus on releasing furnishings, since housing is such an important system in the game, and you are still releasing houses.

To be honest, I don't understand why there isn't a collaboration program with the community to help create more furnishings from the backlog, I am talking only about the stuff already in the game. From what I understood, a 3D item in the game can't be simply used as a furnishing, some additional steps must be made. I am sure the community would be happy to help here.

Think about how many times people asked for weapon racks.

Back to the houses. I have many houses already. The Gold Coast house is very nice. I feel it lacks a basement, or some small cave under the house as a storage/crafting space or for dark characters.

The Dawnwood chapel is great, but my issue with these places is the size. There is nothing on the horizon about any way to increase slots: baseline upgrade, crowns upgrade per house, nothing. Still there is no way (without addons) to link houses through portals or have shortcut portals or devices inside large housing spaces. Still no way to change the default spawn point for the player when they enter the house. Maybe I want to start in the chapel or in that gazebo. I don't know... housing still seems to me underfunded and not important enough for someone in the lead.

My wish for housing for the next 2-3 years, who knows if people will be still playing if nothing major changes, is to change the housing system so if you see an item in the world, that could be a furnishing. Also have large flat areas for housing so people can build whatever they like, and not be bothered by boulders or tall grass.
