Spirit Armor Buff, what is it ? and how do i make it go away?

  • deheartb14_ESO
The problem is that I created a brand new char the other day and right from the beginning it had all the buffs, before I did any quests or anything. Whats up with that?
This is my Signature, but not really because I didn't sign it with a pen and its not my name.

Spirit Armor is granted in one of the Wilderking quests in Greenshade. It may go away once you complete the storyline there. I never really paid much attention to it - sorry I can't give you a more definite answer.

I am done the story line, it is still there. It is a buff for helping the Wilderking out. And as for the other factions left out, we don't know what stuff they can get there.

There is no way this is intentional. What, because I chose a vague dialogue option in one conversation I have to look at these colored feathers falling off my character forever?

If I knew what would happen, I would never have chosen that option.

A bump and a question - anyone seen devs acknowledge anything related to this bug?

To ppl saying "it is hugely distracting" or "it is making it unplayable". Get a life. It is a tiny graphical aura. I have had it for days and it no way impedes my game. Not 1 iota. In fact it gives a buff. yay

Also people saying I have sent a ticket 5 or 6 times for the same problem do you not realise the backlog you will be causing by sending this many tickets for the same issue? FFS send a ticket and move on. If it bugs you that much check the forum and see if numerous other ppl have had the same issue. If they have then chances are numerous ppl will have also sent tickets and it will be on the To-Do list.

To be frank I think progression blocking bugs and exploits are much more serious than this and this will be pretty low down on the list of things to fix.

So you guys really complain about a free 5% buff to armor/mana/spellpower or what ever?

What the heck is wrong with people nowadays... I don't get it.

There should be an option to remove a buff... I'm reading this thread because I would like to remove it. In this muddy world, lsd trails are distracting ;)

Nobody is complaining about the 5% buff - even though it is a bug and needs to be fixed.

With the buff comes an annoying aura of multicolored wisps trailing you. Now, I am sure some folks enjoy such a thing, but then again there are people who enjoy pink unicorns vomiting multicolored rainbows.
The fact that you can't remove this buff and that it seems permanently stuck on your character - what, does that mean every AD character is going to be trailing rainbows until the end of time? Yeah, very "immersive".

I view buffs as good things. Visual or not, cannot imagine why you want it to go away.

    1. Because it's a bug. Just because you are the lucky beneficiary of a broken quest event which grants you a permanent 5% buff doesn't mean it is a good thing. A similar bug might cripple your character permanently.

    2. Because it's annoying. 5% armor buff isn't worth having to trail rainbows forever. It's not even as if you're anything special in that regard - half the characters I come across are trailing them. And that's annoying too. Not to mention unfair - this bug is AD only, meaning AD characters get an unfair advantage over other faction players in PvP.

Now all I need is to find out that you trail them while sneaking in Cyrodiil. Now that would be fun, wouldn't it.

People need to stop whining about "Waah waah we're being ignored by Zenimax with our little colored sparkles issue". Your issue isn't the only one and there are by far more high priority issues to deal with then some sparkles on a character. Send in the /bug report, add as many details as you can, attach a screenshot and move on. And stop whining. They'll get around to remove your sparkles once they've dealt with other issues, like you know, exploits, gold selling, cheaters, that kind of "less important issue then your sparkles". They don't have endless resources and issues get prioritized and higher priority issues get solved first. And this isn't one of them.

Oh, so a faction specific bug giving permanent advantage to one faction in PvP is not important. Gotcha.

Believe it or not, aesthetics are an important thing, and a trail of swirling lights affects them. For better or worse. I'm a Roleplayer and my guild is full of glowing people, I don't enjoy that. Some of you people don't mind it, more power to you.

Am I saying this should be the number one priority and is more important than those quests that block progression? No. Definitely not. We all know Motes in the Moonlight here, I believe, or the Colovian Command (who thankfully is not important). Though as some more insightful and, dare I say smarter, people pointed out, 5% more armor for just one faction is not a trivial thing in PvP.

But in all honesty, I just really hate the effect. I suppose I need to get a life now, damn.

I find the graphics bug related to obsidian shard - the one where, after 3 or 4 uses, the burning embers that refuse to go away make you look like you're about to start a one-man forest fire - to be more annoying than this. At least it's a swirling thing that I can see through.

Hmm I always thought it was the bonus for completing the main story line. That's when I first noticed it.

But perhaps I'm mistaken. I think its great getting the free buff its kinda interesting that people are complaining about it. But I am now curious as to what gives the buff. Interesting no one knows for sure

ZOS - I asked you to remove it about two weeks ago. I submitted two support tickets for that which both were completely ignored. I had to get the attention of a customer support agent by replying in another, completely different support conversation that happened to be answered. Your support agent told me the GMs could not remove it yet because they had trouble removing a single effect without removing all other as well, but said, I quote
"I'm escalating your ticket to our team who will be able to help you out by removing specific effects, and they'll be able to help you out by removing that armor!"

That was 4 days ago. I have since replied to that twice and still not gotten a status update. Also I don't believe there has been even a short comment (not even one saying "sorry we have bigger bugs to fix right now") by a staff member here on the forums even though there have been numerous people expressing the wish for this to be fixed.

Are you trying to get rid of your customers?

Although...I actually kinda like it. Sorry.

After 24 hours of being stuck with this bug, I rather wish I'd never taken the "persuasion" option in that quest. I'm almost certain this bug is causing some latency, and the magical feathers flying off are rather annoying.

Luckily, I'm not on that quest yet. A friend of mine just got it and she's not enjoying it one bit, so I had to google it. Thank goodness that I found this thread.

Hope it gets fixed relatively soon (after some of the more critical issues), since a 5% armor buff--though minor in the long run--is an imbalance in the system. Not to mention that the effect is annoying and completely immersion breaking, which, from what we've seen of ZMO, is what something they're trying to strive for in ESO.

I have that buff but I dont see any visual effects the OP was talking about. im in the boat that it can stay forever as far as im concerned

I don't understand what is so difficult to understand about this buff giving a graphical annoyance that destroys taking first person screenshots(I love stitching panoramas), leaving trails that distinguishes people in pvp, is highly distracting for some(that includes me) and is immersion breaking to say the least. Of course I'm not complaining about a permanent buff that isn't supposed to remain forever due to quest bugs. I got this on an alt as well precisely at the moment I took the persuade option with the wilderking. I for one would very much like to get rid of this buff, permanently.

If you enter the cave w/ a vine for door, where my character (blue marker) is on the map, then attack one of the orcs, the spirit armor will go away! The cave is just south of the City of Marbruk in the Country of Greenshade.

Its there though, one of my characters has it and its rather annoying. Some leaf shaped lights flickering and moving around your character all the time.

Went there, everything is phased so I can't attack any orcs. So if you missed the opportunity at the level it was supposed to happen, you are out of luck.
