@ZOS_Kevin It's too early for an RCA, but what seems to be the issue?
We have determined that it was a malicious network attacks against the ESO service. Our teams are working to keep track of these and adapt with various types of mitigation. There will be additional ping times due to mitigation being active. Just wanted to be clear there.

As has been noted, there are external forces impacting the game's performance and Zenimax is working on it. These malicious attacks change as Zenimax (and other affected companies) adapts to stop them.
But here is what I thought about when I saw the title.https://youtu.be/9n3A_-HRFfc
How many other games have people played where the manufacturer blamed performance issues on dDoS attacks? I can't think of any, ever.

They could. It would be called "ESO Classic". Blizzard has done it successfully ... in 4 expansions. They even managed to come out with a 2nd version of Classic ... Season of Discovery. AND WOW Hardcore. Yes, players went back to Hogger .. for a 3rd, 4th even 5th time. AND when they automatically upgraded your characters to TBC, some players returned to the classic server. Only to kill Hogger again.
ESO Classic. Why not?

If a company the size of and with the resources ZOS has to work with can't shrug of dDoS attacks then they are far less competent than they'd have us believe. As players we should never, ever, under any circumstances be able to discern whether or not the servers are experiencing a dDoS attack. How many other games have people played where the manufacturer blamed performance issues on dDoS attacks? I can't think of any, ever. dDoS is something a pre-teen can figure out how to do, and a schooled computer engineer can deal with while sleeping. The users of the servers being attacked shouldn't ever see any impact from the attack if things are being managed professionally.
