Does Treasure hunter CP worth it?

Does Treasure hunter CP worth spending a slot on it? Is it just upgrades quality of loot e.g. from green to blue? Or it also increases chances of getting something valuable like treasure maps?

I think it was more worth before the nerf to jewelry.

Upgrading a ring to purple was expensive then but now its almost free

It basically upgrades the lot of the chests by 1 difficulty. Simple->Intermediate, Intermediate->Avanced,...
The Simple->Intermediate gives all Simple chests an overland gear piece so, yeah, much better.

The group I do most trials with, thinks it also increases curation finds from trial chests. hard to prove or disprove this, so I use it in trials and dlc dungeons just in case it helps.

when you roam overland you normally slot:
    - Steed's Blessing, Master Gatherer, Plentiful Harvest, Treasure Hunter or
    - Master Gatherer, Plentiful Harvest, Treasure Hunter, Homemaker (with Cowards+Fiords+WildHunt)
i mean, what else should you slot?
of course, there is Jack of all Trades addon for PC for the most efficient Green CP usage,
but without addon you normally set these four and do not touch them unless you enter Infinite Archive or go fishing
IA: Steed's Blessing, Rationer, Professional Upkeep, Homemaker
fishing: there are fishing stars, but i never fish, my life is too shorth for that

and, yes, getting more purple gear is good (you can sell some with good traits via Guild Traders), so the star worths a slot.
as far as i notice it does not affect leads and Treasure maps you get from them chests.

It is absolutely worth it and is one of the CP stars that I have permanently slotted.

What Treasure Hunter does is upgrade the reward level by one. So a Simple chest will give you the rewards of an Intermediate chest, an Advanced chest will give you the rewards of a Master chest, etc.

Okay, but why is that useful? People in this thread mostly talk about item quality, but I think that is mostly irrelevant. Upgrading items to purple is pretty cheap and easy to do, and chest quality has absolutely zero effect on item quality for chests located in dungeons and trials since the item quality in those locations are pre-set and uniform.

What is far more useful is improvement in the chance of finding a set item in the chest. Normally, Simple chests have a small chance of containing a set item, Intermediate chests have a moderate chance, and Advanced chests are always guaranteed to contain a set item. And if you have Treasure Hunter slotted, then Simple chests will have a moderate chance of containing a set item (the earlier post saying that simple will always contain set items is incorrect), and Intermediate chests will always be guaranteed a set item. Master chests, if you have Treasure Hunter, can contain multiple set items.

So Treasure Hunter significantly increases the drop rate of set items (however, contrary to an earlier post, chests are always uncurated), and with the number of set items in the game quickly approaching the 10K mark, players will spend far, far more effort and time collecting set items than upgrading a piece of gear to purple, which is why the most impactful benefit of Treasure Hunter is the improved item set drop rate and the gear quality from overland chests is, by comparison, an irrelevant detail.

Finally, Treasure Hunter is particularly useful in Veteran dungeons, because chest quality in Veteran content is always Intermediate or higher (Simple chests will never spawn in Veteran content), which means that if Treasure Hunter is slotted, every single chest is guaranteed to contain a set item. Which is pretty darn useful for collecting those BoP dungeon sets...

    Thanks for the comprehensive answer.

And does that star also upgrades chests from treasure maps?

Wish it did the same to Dungeon chests.
