Has the "Hide Hip Guards/Loincloths" issue ever been addressed?

This isn't necessarily another thread-petition to remove hip guards, that topic has been beaten into the ground. It's just as the title says because I was looking around on the forum and couldn't actually find any dev acknowledgement on the topic. I was surprised by the crate drops today because the mirrormoor shirt that came out, I actually really enjoy the look of. Except for one glaring and usual problem:

2gzdn1gojzbp.png

The stupid hunks of "hip guard" that completely ruin the sleekness of the shirt. They clip on the hands, they're unnecessarily huge, and once again, they've been added onto a piece of clothing that doesn't at all need it.

So, has anyone from ZOS actually given any clarification on whether or not this is something they're looking at working on, or has it just been radio silence since launch?

I think that ship has long sailed, but I've always thought hip guards and bags should be part of the waist slot, not the chest slot.

Not a change they should make this late in the game, of course. In lieu of that, a toggle is long overdue.

I think the issue is that the hip guards are part of the chest, so to hide them as a blanket thing you'd have to hide the entire chest piece.

Indeed, the whole hip plates and crotch flaps thing has prevented me from buying so many Crown Store items.

ZOS, want me to spend more Crowns? Make those things toggleable!

While I'm not sure if it's been addressed.

I will point out that it would be a non-trivial amount of work to add such a feature.

Since, it would require them to go through almost every chest piece in the entire game and either separate it into 2 distinct pieces to allow for an option to only one piece, or to create a second version of the chest pieces that doesn't have the hip guards (Or loincloth) that can be toggled into.

AND then they would need to rework the bones of the chest piece to have weapons sheathe at a different location (Lest the issue arise of weapons floating 50 ft from your body because they're sheathed in a location that accounts for the width of the hip guards - Such as is the case for a recent thread that was mentioning such a thing for a chest piece that had a satchel on the back which caused the same phenomena)

Likely resulting in a response of "We're aware of the desire, but we can't promise anything" AKA "That's too much work to do for free. We'd have to figure out a good way to monetize it so Executive Overlords will greenlight the work"

But there is a way to easily remove them. People have found a hidden "remove tassels" in the files and they use such things themselves on npcs to remove hip flaps from their looks. There is no need for extra work. Even weapons are already sheathed weird with hip flaps or not.

For years upon years we have complained, but no they have never addressed it despite many attempts of getting responses from them.
Not even on the dumbest design choices, like when something is clearly more clothes or very light armour, yet they put massive and weird hip flaps on them.

    Like in Dead Keeper motif:

Even made a thread to complain about that motif some year ago

    Same.

Pic in the OP is a prime example of how awful they are... I mean seriously, why are they even there? They look so stupid. And why do ZOS insist on producing more armour sets with them when there's nothing but pleas for them to stop??

These things are literally floating in mid air, you could fit your fist into the gap and this is a costume, not some mis-matched armour pieces

These things are offensively ugly. I hope there is a *darn* good reason for them! I don't use outfits with them and I'm constantly peeved by how this limits my choices. Sooo many good outfits ruined by ugly flaps!

If they aren't going to give us the option to hide tassets the least they could do is stop putting them on new styles, especially medium and light armor. They have no logical function on anything but heavy armor.

You made me wonder why it didn't work that way in the first place? Seriously, the belt styles are too subtle. If the style of the hip plates depended on the belt, then it would be both more logical and more unique than just 999+ types of small and inconspicuous thing on the belt. Just why ZOS?

I was also sad to see the hip-plates attached to that shirt. We've been asking for regular clothing motifs for so long, and that shirt would have been great for some adventurous looking out-of-combat styles. It's exactly the kind of thing I want to see when I say I want clothing style pages...just, without hip plates. Or flaps. The collar armor is actually fine because it looks pretty.

I was also sad that it has a belt buckle attached to the shirt already, instead of the buckle being separate. I can't understand that choice, because we have to keep a belt equipped at all times, and have no ability to hide it. This means any belt we are wearing will conflict with the one already attached to the style. :/

I wouldn't want the hip plates to be added to belts. That would ruin a lot of really nice belts we have, because some of the hip plates that are a part of those motifs are huge/have issues that would mess up many already existing outfits people have made.

Its some mechanics with the flaps as khajiit and argonians don't have rear flaps as it would clip with their tails.
yes it could be an separate model missing them, but then it should be an extra model in the game and I don't think it is.
Newer helmet has an khajiit version with the ears.

From an aesthetic standpoint, I think there would be greater gain from having the hip plates on the waist (I really want to be able to pair something like the Sapiarch satchels with other shirts). That said, messing up other people's existing outfits is the main reason I wouldn't want it changed now.

The crotch flaps are my eternal enemy because like 75% of chests that have them, will have this happen:

    4c2161gnxuo2.jpg

I don't know who models these since the ones that do this with fat models are connected into the belt bone, instead of the crotch bone (bones as in the model's skeleton's bones, 3D model term) and it looks so bad I am just flat out angry! So many nice chest pieces are ruined. I have a bunch of fat male characters and I gotta just grit my teeth and try to find either flapless chests or ones with the correct bone connection... I would've liked to buy that crown outfit style shown in the screenshot, but because it looks like THAT, ZOS didn't get their money.

The tassets are over the hips, so shouldn't they be part of the pants?

Edit: Just pointing out that they don't make sense being part of the chest because hips are part of the pants. But I don't want to see them anywhere!

On female characters, Orc Belt 1 clips entirely into the player model and is invisible, so we technically already have a hide belt option for half our characters.

On males, there are some styles you can use that are very recessed and can also be completely hidden with certain chest motifs. Xivkyn/Anequina sashes and Sancre Tor Sentry girdle are some examples I can think of off the top of my head.

The majority of my characters are male, so unfortunately I can't use the Orc Belt trick on the character I wanted the chest piece for, but that's good to know for the very few female characters I have, thank you for the info.

Anequina sash has been my go-to on my male characters so far, and hopefully it works with this chest piece.

However, I'm still not thrilled with having the belt buckle attached to this particular shirt already, because I would have preferred to choose my own. Due to the clipping/conflicts, that's not possible.

I also dislike the random butt/crotch flaps and hip tassets on 90% of things. The flaps have the same issue that the really female hair has; they're CONSTANTLY swaying, and it's so annoying. Not to mention the tassets and flaps also just...kind of ruin most tops.

But I feel like we're yelling into the void at this point. Granted things we've been asking for for years have slowly been making it in, so who knows. Maybe over all these years they've been going through every Style, Motif, and Costume to separate flappies and tassets from the chest pieces so we can hide them easily or something. I know the option is in the files, but that doesn't exactly mean it's functional.
