Dead Keeper motif: WHY?

So, I took and checked the Necrom motifs, and appreciated that they looked rather nice. For a moment, I got happily excited about the Light version, because it looked like something my dunmer could actually use as more normal clothing.

Then that got crushed when I saw the metal hip plates. Why?! Why are there metal hip plates on cloth robes? Even worse, the medium and heavy doesn't have them, only the scroll all three have.
That ZOS likes to add hip, crotch and butt flaps is nothing new, but this is probably one of the worst cases I've seen, because it's recent (and lately they have gotten better), and out of all the armour types it is the Light version that has it and it just looks so out of place. Completely ruins a nice short and long robe.

The crime in question:

Medium and heavy, which are very metal plates free:

@ZOS_Kevin Do you know whose idea this was? I'm gonna call them a fetcher and a s'wit.

Why don't you just use either medium or heavy through the outfit station?

Ah. Okay. Personally I like the medium better than light, but it's not a style I'd ever use anyway.

It’s a lovely motif, one of my favourites and I will definitely be using it on my Dunmer. But cloth panels rather than metal would make sense if hip flaps absolutely have to be there. I’d rather they weren’t.

    We can only hope.

And they also need to stop with the newer trend of putting "fanny pack"-type stuff on the back of the chest pieces.
Several times now, I think I've found a new style that isn't ruined by tassets, or crotch-flaps, only to see that they've, instead, plunked a clunky-looking fanny-pack thing to the back side.

Oooh I hate a hip flaps! There’s one really great signature chest piece that’s completely ruined by those floating a good 6 inches away from your characters. I forget what it called but crikey it looks awful

I'll admit, I usually never have problem with the hip plates on motifs. But this was the first time where it utterly ruined the motif for me. I too thought I could use the motif for a "wandering mage" type outfit, but those metal hip flaps just look so out of place.

That does look awful, and makes no sense. I don't like hip flaps on many motifs as they float and move so badly when you run (yes, Psijic Order, and Apostle over there, I am looking at you), but this just seems a bit bonkers.

So many motif chest pieces are ruined by massive floating metal hip flaps. Why they still insist on putting them on, I'll never know; they must know by now that we hate the things. I've lost count of the times I've tried on an interesting chest piece, only to find it has massive hip flaps that float magically 6 inches - or more sometimes - from my hips.

I get that they maybe want to try and avoid clipping issues, but really, if clipping is such a problem, just don't add hip flaps! How difficult is that to understand? I've been an armour and clothing modder for 30 years and if I think something will clip horribly, I remove it before releasing the modded item.

Robes and other clothing 'cloth' items DON'T need hip flaps!

I'm with you on the hip plates, honestly so many styles are so samey, I'd just love to see some more variety and especially new types of design styles.
Belts that aren't just some dinky little buckle, but maybe wrap around, or have pouches, books, etc, Shoulders that are more like cloaks or wraps, perhaps a few more glowy motifs like hollowjack and dro'mathra, just a bit more adventurousness all round.

I completely get what you're saying, hip flaps suck. On another hand, light armor is made of lighter material, thus the need for plates covering some of it rather than on the medium or heavy makes sense kinda. Not fashion sense, just in the personal protection sense.

No it doesn't make kinda sense, it makes no sense. It's light armour, technically just clothes. Why would anyone put some "protective" big pieces of metal plates on their hips, instead of over vital organs?

The medium and heavy are the ones that are supposed to have some protection, but medium looks to be only clothes as well (with no "hip protection"), and heavy only have a small breastplate, unless the skirt is hiding greaves or something under it. This is probably the or one of the worst case of illogical hip flaps I've seen. Like not only do they look weird as hell on what is just a wrap robe, they don't even look that fitting for a dunmer style.

Yeah, I saw the new motifs and decided to pass on all of the offerings this year. It's a shame, last year was SO solid, but I just don't like the direction their styles are going. I don't like hip-flaps and sandals, and the Hermaeus Mora theme just doesn't speak to me.

A lot of these styles also have skeleton mesh errors, where the chest pieces push one handed weapons several inches off the hip, thus, floating weapons. It's so bad that I've noticed it's down to the individual piece within a style. The Jerkin will push them off but then the Robe has them attached fine.

I hope whoever designs these things doesn't misunderstand this statement. Otherwise all new pants will have a huge metal codpiece instead of hip plates.

i think there should be some sorta cosmetic toggle similar to the hide shoulders thing. personally theres some outfits i think they look good on but not every single one of them needs to have the hip plates, theyre not a great addition to casual clothes style in general

        Right.

ZOS, listen carefully. By my words I mean I don't want any, any, odd pieces of protection added to light armour that looks like clothes. Please stop doing that.
Adding codpieces on some heavy plate armour in High Isle, definitely could've been a thing, though.

Nah, heavy armor only gets weird fluttering crotch flaps that clip through the mount when riding.
