"We want you to know that everyone who was part of Early Access will be granted an extended grace period until Sunday at 8AM EDT/12PM GMT before being required to transition your account to live. This will cover those who purchased ESO from an online retailer and won't be getting your box shipped in time and also gives anyone who purchased digitally more Early Access time."

Usually posts complaining about complainers just encourages the complainers to continue to argue their point.

what they owe us is better notifications of planned downtimes... thats about it right now.
  • whardisonb14_ESO
    They don't owe you anything.

So it was short notice - servers still went down.

If you didn't expect them to bring them down before official launch started, you need to work on your critical thinking skills.

I'm honestly surprised we got any play time today at all.

Careful with all the "owed" talk.

One thing about gamers, is we are masters of 2 things.

    1) Impatience
    2) Devil's Advocacy

If the downtime was planned, Zenimax owes it to its brand to communicate better to the players - but they don't owe us anything. Nothing will come of the short notice.

If you quit a game that you like over the short notice, how sad your life must be.

If you are playing a game you hated anyway, again, how sad your life must be.

What Zenimax doesn't want is a reputation of being short-sided with their players. And being open and upfront about scheduled/planned downtime is definitely a place to start.

Players want to play the game. That's a good thing.

Players planning to play the game during a scheduled maintenance period is a BAD THING.

Now, all that is assuming that this was planned and scheduled as part of their launch cycle. If so, bad job community coordinator for Zenimax.

If it wasn't entirely planned - then people do the best that they can with the hands that they are dealt.

I personally - would hate to work in an industry that had to cater to gamers. We can sure be **** about simple things.

If they were letting people play for free then you'd be right but they work for us. Now I don't have issue with this downtime except for the fact that it was a scheduled downtime where we were given no warning. My main concern is that guys like you slam people for their dissatisfaction in a product they've purchased.

You now have 3 more free days if you´re smart and enter your stuff on Sunday.

There is a big difference between constructive criticism and feedback, and pointless whining.

There are avenues to get your dissatisfaction heard that isn't the equivalent of standing on a street corner shouting your grievance for all to hear in some pointless attempt for self-righteous validation.

that's nice, but not the point..i was hoping to get 3 days in and avoid the masses ..2 days after launch defeats the purpose.

    These threads confuse me.

Person 1 - not upset about downtime. Recognizes these kinds of issues are common with MMO launches. Sympathizes with the company and workers behind the product.

Person 2 - purchases a product and expects it to work as advertised. They were told they would have 3,5 days of early access. This person places equal value on each of those words: "X", "days", "early", and "access". They didn't have access for X days, and feel that they should have X days of access.

Both groups seem to have a very vocal group that could use more tact.

Person 1 initially comes off as compassionate and sympathetic.
    Person 2 takes a black/white logical stance.

What confuses me, is how Person 1 is sympathetic to the company and employees, but seems to lack any empathy for Person 2. You're experiencing the exact same thing. Not to mention - if the Group 2 manages to gain compensation, Group 1 will also benefit.

It seems rational that Group 2 would actively oppose Group 1, as they can be viewed as obstructionists to receiving compensation. What I don't get, is why Group 1 antagonizes Group 2. Group 1 doesn't have anything to gain from this.

Is this an ego thing? Some moral imperative that I am unfamiliar with? Does Group 1 identify more closely with the company and employees than they do with the other players?

    I don't get it.

Er what? a Grace period somehow magically gives us more early access? Do they even read what they are writing, are the devs seriously dumb?

No it gives us a couple of extra free days if you hold onto your code longer, not more "early access".

Slowly loosing any hope for this game when it seems to be run by a bunch of idiots so far.

No, it's having to listen to Group 2 from Day 1 being nothing but negative about the slightest little issue and then standing on the proverbial street corner shouting it in a desperate attempt to get attention and instant gratification - instead of using the implemented feedback channels.
