Wisteria

Did the quest, then got sacked. Now Ember is back by my side. Next to Tanlorin, Ember looks like a University Don. Tanlorin's silly comments and anything mage like was bad news, especially as I am a mage. Tanlorin just had to go before I pulled what little hair I have left, out.

While doing Tanlorin quest I noticed that Wisteria might have been a way cooler companion. At least I'm finding Wisteria more appealing than Tanlorin. Her voice acting and accent is much better and she's a really good-looking character. Feels like a missed opportunity here. It would have been great if we could choose between both characters. What do you think?

Yes, I agree. However, we do not have this choice to make. So, while Tanlorin's perk is very useful, I find her voice acting off-putting for a high elf and her skills package is too similar to Bastian's (whose perk is dismally weak).

I feel certain that Tanlorin will be put on a shelf to gather dust while the more favored companions get all the glory.

The patch notes make a mention that the two new companions will do better in World Boss fights. I have my doubts. Their deaths usually come from simply "standing in the red" which seems to be something that cannot be improved upon.

I find that Ember and Azandar excel in Public Dungeons. Azandar LAUGHS LOUD AND LONG when we slaughter groups of enemies and he is quick with his defensive shields. Ember is superb with her bright "bad girl" attitude and is a veritable lightning storm of damage. Mirri's bow skills are excellent and Isobel is a solid "templar" fighter.

I'm still working on maxing Tanlorin and Zerith (good perk because I don't like missing Heavy Sacks), so I cannot really comment on their final combat potential.

Sharp gives a useful perk but I can't really stand having him around -- I think it's the whole lizard thing.

I'm happy about ZOS choosing different Dragonknight skills for Tanlorin's toolkit to separate them from Bastian's Dragonknight skills, but I'm not happy that Soul Magic replaced one of the Dragonknight skill lines instead of being an additional skill line.

I hope the next two Companions we get reuse existing Classes, but with a different selection of skills and a different take on the archetypes of those Classes — like how Isobel's Templar skills are in reference to Stendarr, another Templar Companion's skills could reference Meridia or some other Divine/Aedra.

I just don't want Class skill lines to be replaced by unrelated skill lines — we should get the 3 Class skill lines and the extra skill lines like Soul Magic or Vampire/Werewolf in their own category.

I can only speak for the translation I play, but I'd also say that language-wise, all female companions so far seem rather young; some less extreme than others, but they're all definitively on the young-ish side. I mean, they are young, so it's not unfitting, but something else would be nice nonetheless. We've already gotten two old men as companions now (Zerith is supposed to be old), a bit more variety when it comes to female characters certainly wouldn't be wrong.

I agree that it's time for an older female. Not that I want more companions, but if there are more on the way, we don't need any more younger females. We have three already (I'd say Mirri, though young, doesn't sound like a teenager like the others do).

She drives me nuts, and I’m super patient with gameplay and companion imperfections. Her voice. But about wisteria, does anyone know what that STYLE is she’s wearing? That’s what I was looking for that brought me here. 🩵

    they/them for Tanlorin.
And Wisteria wears the same unreleased costume Houseguest Tanlorin wears.
So it's probably related to the Garland Ring, but of course only zos knows when it releases.

"Tanlines," (Yes, that's what I'm calling her), is an absolute Looney Toon, even more so than Ember. Lot's of hilarious dialog comes out of her mouth.

I don't even like Tanlorin. I find her personality and voice to be grating. I'm shelving her once she's leveled up. I don't think Wisteria would be an improvement for spoiler reasons.

I'm not a fan of Wisteria. Her overall style is decent, but the weird yandere personality is not my thing.

But I'm also not a fan of Tanlorin either. They come across as way too quirky and the "Useless mage but is actually really good at X magic" schtick feels way too similar to Nahlia (Whom I so very wish would have been a companion). The non-binary thing is just confusing icing on the cake as nothing about it really makes much sense as to why it's there.

Out of the characters from Tanlorin's questline, I'd have much rather Hyacinth as a companion than anyone else. Even more so if our companions could interact with each other - I'd imagine Hyacinth and Mirri could have some interesting conversations about strange dwemer artifacts and devices (Maybe Hyacinth could open the box that Mirri's grandfather was interested in...)

Yeah after hearing this i don't know if i even want to collect this companion

Same. Also I don't do they/them when my brain doesn't remember to because my memory is shot.

That bit there also screams DA:V.

Wasn't necessary. Not picking up this one, especially after seeing the dislikes. Zerith also irks me in that department. I like him but hate his likes/dislikes.

Whats the perk on Tan? Haven't even gotten around to looking yet.

Wisteria's got a great look and voice, but everything else about her is kinda... yeah...

Tanlorin's not my favorite, but I appreciate the niche they fill, even if they're not for everyone. Some of y'all are really mean about it, though.

She constitutes a large chunk of the only PvE content in the second half of the year and people had to pay an extra fee for her. Naturally there is some bitterness. If she’d come with a new zone or something there would be less of it, because there would be other things to talk about and people would’ve gotten more for their money even if they weren’t keen on her specifically. As-is it’s like getting half a sandwich when you’re used to getting a pizza and the sandwich is moldy.

I think Wisteria is a more attractive character, both in appearance and voice. Once I get Tanlorin's trinket I don't think I'll be using them again. Zerith had such a better storyline imo.

See this is actually what I'm talking about. They're nowhere near that bad. The hyperbole is excessive.
