Wisteria

While doing Tanlorin quest I noticed that Wisteria might have been a way cooler companion. At least I'm finding Wisteria more appealing than Tanlorin. Her voice acting and accent is much better and she's a really good-looking character. Feels like a missed opportunity here. It would have been great if we could choose between both characters. What do you think?

I find Tanlorin to have the most annoying voice, personality, and one-liners of all the companions so far. As soon as I'm done leveling her for her perk, I'll shelve her.

I don't know much about her personality yet because I just started today. The voice is really likely to become annoying after a while, but for now I even find it funny because it reminds me at times of Awkwafina's voice expression. For me, it's more the look that I don't really like, especially the colorful tattoos and that cyberpunk purple hair that is out of context for my style of play. Then Wisteria caught my attention, which I think is impeccable, the appearance and voice acting. I think she would actually make a really cool companion.

Tanlorin feels very Dragon Age: The Veilguard to me, which isn't my cup of tea stylewise but if they appeal to other folks, that's the point, I suppose. I agree though, this character does seem like she would have been more up my alley.

Exactly how I feel about Quistley. I hope we get more content with him, at least.

I can't stand the performance of Tanlorin's VA. Sounds like a kid's cartoon character who's always talking in an abrasive and juvenile tone no matter how serious the situation. One-note, shallow, and endlessly irritating.

Comparatively character looks very good, also after reading about companion's personality, dislikes and looking up clips of performance literally anything would do better.

    Them.

    Tanlorin's pronouns are they/them.

I haven't even started unlocking Tanlorin yet and I already like Wisteria more.

No, Wisteria would not make a good Companion. Play through Tanlorin's entire questline (all three post-recruitment quests) and you'll discover why.

Ok. Now I'm curious. I only reached the second part. But even if the personality is worse, there's still the whole visual aspect of Wisteria that I like better than Tanlorin. And at this point Tanlorin's voice is starting to annoy me a bit, and I think I already understand why: it sounds a lot like a contemporary rebellious teenager, and out of place for the style of this game.

This is exactly one of my problems with the voice and personality.

It is *way* too forced cheerful and childish.

I agree, she is the worst companion in the game by far. Most annoying voice ever. Took me 3 days to get through her first quest because I can't stand listening to her. Eventually just turned the volume down and listened to music while speed reading through the dialogue. Her voice aside, even the quest is boring.

Have to agree that personality wise Tanlorin is the most annoying companion. But I do like her one-liners and I absolutely love her rapport likes and dislikes. She kinda likes everything I do while questing, making for some easy rapport gaining. So overall she is a good companion for me.

Another thing I dislike about Tanlorin is her haircolor, this severely limits her options of colors to create an outfit with. Tanlorin's special ability(keepsake) is really useless though, maybe have her special ability be that lockpicks can't break anymore or that we won't need lockpicks anymore.

But yeah, Wisteria would never make a good companion. Hyacinth however, would. I like his tinkering. (Does this also foreshadow crossbows for ESO? With the handheld ballista design being mentioned.)

Guess that's a good way to put it with her.

Tan feels really off. Like I like the concept of the character but idk. I think it's the voice doing it for me.

Yeah I played through her questline on PTS and she mostly reminded me of Eveli Sharp-Arrow, with the added ‘bonus’ of whining every time she sets foot in the Mages Guild. 🤮
