What can you obtain in this game to flex to other players with?

i'd say a semi-large flex (not including exclusively crown-store items) is mythic gear, like oakensoul, etc. however, the biggest flex is the game has to be becoming the emperor in pvp; not many can say they've done that, and you get a neat title and costume to go with it.

I think players believe that others are noticing them way more than really are. I barely even look at other players, let alone envy them.

As a member of a (once popular, now defunct) fashion guild, I don't really think you need grindy baubles to show off. I actually have people stop and stare and walk around my characters all the time, but I just spend a lot of care designing them. The great thing about ESO is that it has so many styles and other ways to customize your characters that you can stand out without a massive grind or real-money purchases.

Nothing. ZOS failed to differentiate earnable vs purchased rewards. In fact, purchased stuff is pretty much always way cooler than earnable stuff! This devalued everything to where (as you see throughout this thread) people will barely look at you anymore.

The only stuff to “flex” now would be Trifecta-related titles/mount for Dreadsail Reef, Sanity’s Edge, and Lucent Citadel. But even then… the only people who care are players aspiring to earn those themselves.

To be clear there DID used to be ways to flex in the past. At one point the Dromathra Destroyer title was a huge deal and players in all zones across the game would gather around you for it. This was 6-7 years ago. Godslayer title/mount also held prestige about 4-5 years ago

Make a character who you enjoy playing and who matches the class/character fantasy you’re pushing for. The game has an enormous amount of cosmetics. You’ll be happier doing that than you will flexing in a decade old game.

Op, sorry to see some of the jaded responses in the thread. I'm a longtime player and there are certain things that frustrate me about the game. However one thing I love about the game still is how many things there are to work towards and collect, as I enjoy doing that myself. In my opinion, more players having access to the items doesn't diminish the fun of obtaining them, having them, and using them, especially as there are always newer players joining who don't yet have those items and think they are cool. Also, it sound to me like you're looking for a "oh, neat" response from players rather than a "you're an ESO deity" response, which is totally doable in my opinion. :)

A lot of it is putting together the right combination of things, like a cool title with the perfect name and then a coordinated look to go with it. I notice memorable names/title combos more than anything else, personally.

Collectibles are absolutely a good place to start, as was mentioned already. You can obtain pets, mounts, titles, skins, dyes, personalities, polymorphs, skill styles, outfit styles, and motifs. There's also a wide variety of "smaller" things to unlock, like body markings, eye colors, etc.

You can get these items from game play achievements, events, or the Crown Store. Crown Store items can be obtained via endeavors if you don't want to spend real money, although it's slow going. There's also a wide variety of in-game currencies and items that can be obtained from special vendors with those currencies.

This thread does have some good suggestions for "rarer" things to pursue, as well. I don't have much to add to what's already been posted. I would say if you are trying to "flex" a bit and show you are skilled, anything that comes from a solo arena is a good way to do it, as it is not possible to obtain those as a carry in a group (without breaking the TOS, which absolutely I do not recommend!).

While not for everyone, another way to show creativity is housing. I am truly blown away at some of the designs. Collecting the furniture and homes in the game and then making a jaw-dropping environment with them is absolutely a flex, though of a different kind.

    Damn that's interesting.

How much do guilds that do that charge per carry?

Players will be able to get these again. And it will be easier if players have certain achievements. From the PTS patch notes v10 2.2

The unique and bound style pages from 2024's Anniversary Jubilee are also back, with some improvements on their availability sourcing. As you earn achievements related to the sourcing, the chance to receive them from said sources increases dramatically. Here's the breakdown:

Replica Trueflame Sword: Very rare drop from fishing. Less rare if you have either Dominion, Covenant, or Pact Fisherman achievement. Uncommon rarity if you have all base-game Master Angler achievements.

Replica Staff of Worms: Very rare drop from dolmens. Less rare if you have either Dominion, Covenant, or Pact Anchor Shatterer achievement. Uncommon rarity if you have Anchors Away achievement.

Replica Sunna'rah Staff and Replica Barbas Wolf Helmet: Very rare drop from Vvardenfell world bosses. Less rare if you have Defender of Morrowind achievement. Uncommon rarity if you have Savior of Morrowind achievement.

Replica Ul'Vor Staff: Very rare drop from Abyssal Geysers. Less rare if you have Abyssal Devastator achievement. Uncommon rarity if you have Savior of Summerset achievement.

    Oh ha ha ha...

So I wasted time and sanity on a stupid grind for items (I didn't really want) that will now drop at an "uncommon" rate instead of "very rare"? Should have known really... silly me.

I have the beta monkey and first year senche. My main uses the senche because I think it's still the coolest mount around but I don't expect anyone to recognize it. Likewise the beta monkey - an alt uses it, I don't expect people to know what it means.

Master Angler is probably the biggest flex - no short cuts, you have to go everywhere and catch all the fish :)

Part of me is glad others won't have to go through the same thing, but a bigger part of me is angry that I had to go through it and didn't get anything special to acknowledge that.

What about score boards? Do these not show these not show you are the best if you are on top. Maybe they need add some sort of visual representation of being top of the score board, rather than saying to someone, but look I'm on top of the weekly score board. Maybe an outfit or an effect that you can only wear whilst at the top? Maybe they need a bit more of that to add some competitiveness back in to the game, so people can strut around showing off stuff.

I assume people who care about that will check the scoreboard to see who's on it, and people who don't care...don't care. They're not going to know what that costume means or notice when they see it.

I know there's a costume you only get by being the emperor, but I couldn't tell you what it looks like or if I've ever seen a player using it, and if I did I wouldn't know where it came from because it's not something which interests me so if they're going around expecting players like me to be impressed they're out of luck.

I do like to see what other players do with their characters and will sometimes look something up if I think it's interesting, but when I realise it's a costume and not a creative outfit and it's from some part of the game I don't play that's when I lose interest.
Former emperor is an nice title. It also get an costume who is nice but less noticeable than the title.

ESO players can also show off (i.e. "flex") with intangibles, e.g. titles. When you see a player character with the title "Grand Master Crafter", it means they've finished a very significant achievement, because this particular title (and others) is NOT easy to get.

Fair enough. I definitely get it. I'm still a little salty about it and it's kind of spoiled the styles for me. They just drag their feet with certain things and it's really frustrating (well for a video game). I feel that same way about overland at this point. I'm not even sure if I'll even like it anymore at this point because it's starting to feel like it's too late. They really, really need to work on being more responsive to their playerbase. Even something like "There's no way to change things for this event, but we're discussing solutions about this" would have gone a long way to making the anniversary grind feel so much better.

    Red Rook Bandit Style.

    It costs 475,000 Tel Var.

Anybody could get it in theory but, in practice I haven't actually seen anyone use the full style.

Because the style isn't worth the effort. Now if they had "Nocturnal Agent" armor with those pin-eyes in the hood/mask--that may be worth that cost. haha

Edit: As others have said, enjoy the game and get stuff you'll use. Most people don't care what others have or are doing. The people who do are watching streamers. 🤷‍♀️

I’m sorry in advance, but I have to say this. Why would anyone want to “flex” in front of other players with anything? Why would some people have a “Ha ha I have this and you don’t”mentality? “I bought this from the Crown Store and now it’s not available so you can’t get it!” “I earned this by joining a raid guild and working for weeks on the hardest content in the game to get this, and you can’t get this unless you do that too!” “I participated in an event and got this (I’m looking at you, Treasure Trove) and now it may not ever be given out again, so you missed it, too bad!” “This is my Beta Monkey because I played during beta, too bad you can never get it!”

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s very nice to be proud of certain achievements one has accomplished. I myself have the Beta Monkey, and it’s a very nice reminder of something I did all those years ago. But I would never flex with it just to lord it over someone else that I have something they can never have. I just don’t understand that mentality. It seems like the only purpose in that would be to try and make other people feel bad. Maybe I’m simply misunderstanding this whole concept or the intention behind the question in this forum post.

Well at least for me it's actually the opposite. If i have something i enjoy i show it to other people so they can enjoy it too.
Of course if i enjoy a mount that everyone has themselves i don't need to show them mine, they can enjoy there own mount.
So i would need a rare mount to share.
In the same way when i see your beta mokey i dont get sad because i dont have one myself, i get happy because now i can enjoy yours for a moment.
