If there's the possibility of it being a new feature, then we can't say for sure what the intention behind the change is. Unannounced changes like these happen all the time, especially in ESO itself. Many of those changes stick around, despite bug reports, and we just have to assume that they're either low priority bugs or unannounced features.
What concerns are there? On desktop and mobile, you only have to scroll down to get to the content you want to read. The announcement box only takes up space on the top of the web page — it's easily ignored by browsing the website as usual. I fail to understand why this is such a pressing issue.

They don't follow me down the screen but every time I open the forums, or change which forum I am looking at, or go to another page in a thread they return.
It is very intrusive and has never happened until today, so I hope they are able to fix this soon. Being a 3 day holiday weekend I am afraid they may not see this until Tuesday.

I find them annoying even on my large-screen PC. The idea is that something we had was removed and made things worse for at least some of us.

I don't think it was purposely removed. All the other forums, German, French, etc., still have the X. I think it just glitched but we just have to wait until someone sees this thread and clears it up for us.

On your Android device, open Chrome .
On the right of the address bar, tap More. Settings.
Under 'Advanced', select Site settings. Desktop site.
Turn on desktop site.
Does this make a difference?

I hope this is just a glitch and not a new feature.
In lieu of correcting whatever makes the notifications disappear and not reappear, I think that not allowing them to be dismissed might be a good idea.

I get sad when I accidentally hit x and can't get the announcement back againIt's more official to have it always there for not forgetting.

If that is an issue for some then request an Announcements tab that can be opened to read them again.
But this thread is about not having the ability to do something we have always been able to do. The fact that it is just on the English forums points to it being a glitch and I hope they fix this soon because I find this huge block of text irritating and intrusive.

I don't want to bother the developers for a tab when having it always there is a simple elegant solution which I am enjoying much.
But I do like Erickson9610's idea though because it's helpful.

Not being able to dismiss the Announcements is NOT a solution... it is an ERROR going on with the English forums. Players can not click the X if they don't want to, just like it has been for many years now. But this error needs to be resolved.
No, it's an error/bug. As people have already mentioned several times in this thread, the 'x' button to dismiss the announcement is still present in various non-English versions of the forum, so it's only this one which has the bug. They all use the same forum software framework.TheMajority wrote: »
well...it is perhaps a matter of perspective. for one who mistakes and accidentally hits this x often, it becomes a solution, but for one who dislikes it, it's an error.
i will make the choice of viewing it as a positive change while I get the chance to enjoy it, and perhaps the person who handles this site will see my love for it, and will implement a nice tab system so that we can all be happy in the end.
i think that's a good resolution for me.
