    Severely so.

As the playerbase has learned, we will get something no one asked about, because why would they listen to their playerbase?

My wishlist: Better servers. Better engine/code/whatever. A solid dev team just for pvp. Bugs and exploits need to be fixed faster (maybe even before they go live). "Game masters" to keep an eye on toxic and suspicious players.

I would surprised if the Q4 update is actually new pvp content and not a "content rework" or a new siege weapon emote.

I have basically zero belief zos is planning to make new PVP content, so if it's something that's actually new I'd be beyond surprised tbh. I just don't believe that ZOS cares about pvp at all.

Ohw come on... basically every balance update we ever had was/is because of PvP, and ZOS has spent years and many resources trying to fix the Cyrodiil issues. With Morrowind they released battlegrounds. They wouldn't have done all that if they really didn't care about PvP.

Also the upcoming Q4 DLC is something new for PvP.

PS: ZOS has also taken all negative attention about PvP and has tried to turn it into a positive. Where if they really didn't care for PvP, they could have just removed PvP altogether to get rid of all the negative attention that aspect gives the game.

Just a quick one: Morrowind and BG's were released in 2017, it's year 2024 currently. Patches and balance are game-wide, not PvP or PvE related because they refuse to separate the modes.

From my perspective, they especially deserve it since they didn't get anything new for a long time, and with PvP modes existing, they are part of the game and the playerbase.

That I personally don't care for PvP in this game at all, doesn't matter. I also don't care for the card game, but I still don't complain that there's new card decks with each chapter. It's the way it is if a game offers a big variety of different things - not everything will be liked/used by everyone.

Of course this concept in itself could be discussed - whether it makes sense to try to cater to very different players at the same time, which might lead to so many compromises, that in the end, the result isn't really perfect for anyone - but that's a diffent topic.

To be quite honest I would much rather see some time and energy put into balancing pvp and taking advantage of Battle Spirit to target pvp specific balance changes. Sure, new content is great (hopefully?), but the foundation is crumbling and I think that should be addressed first.

It's rumoured to be 4vs4 and 8vs8 battleground mode with 5-6 new maps.

So basically ball group vs ball group, NOT what pvp needs right now if true.

Cyrodiil has been ignored for years now, and with New World coming to console, pvp needed something awesome and interesting to keep pvpers in the game imo, scribing was not it and this isn't it either.

PvP absolutely need a way for organized groups to fight each other in a ranked setting, been long overdue. Not saying other areas of PvP need content (because it does). The problem with the current BG format for groups is that the group finder is malfunctioning to absurd levels (and it´s not because a lack of population, but rather a combination of a faulty MMR system who severely limits who you can fight, and a very poorly working group finder), which leads to group queues in BG´s never happening. I could make an entirely different thread about the topic so won´t deep dive into it in a single comment.

But saying we don´t need more ways for organized groups to fight other organized groups is something I strongly disagree on. If anything it would give those groups strong incentives to seek out each other instead of avoiding one another in Cyrodiil (assuming the rewards for placing high on leaderboards are good enough)

At first I I thought "Oh god.... please no!", but if it keeps them out of Cyro then yes please. I don't think it would see much action tbh as ball groups seem to avoid other ball groups.

They already said that new PvP feature will not be connected to the currently existing ones so no Cyro/IC/BG changes/additions.

They only said it was not Cyrodiil related. BGs would be officially dead if nothing comes to that, and IC doesn't need any changes anyway.

I can also claim 80% of the end game players i know come into pvp after getting bored of trialing / got all their trifectas.

I can only speak formyself, i have surely spend about 10 grand into this game over the years and since few years i only play pvp.

If pvp wont get some love and the game keeps dying, ill move on and stop spending money here. Easy as it.

If I had to bet this is what I'd bet ZOS is going to deem a PvP expansion. We don't know what it's going to be, but we do know it's not going to be anything we've asked for and won't have anything to do with Cyrodiil. (ZOS stated that it's not going to have anything to do with cyrodiil, which makes no sense as Cyrodiil is the PvP portion of ESO)

More than 10% of ESO players participate in PvP activities. And the primary reason that the PvP population is low is due directly to ZOS reducing the population cap in Cyrodiil to, yes literally, 10% of what the original population cap was in Cyrodiil. ZOS is the reason there aren't more PvP players in ESO. If you can't get into your home campaign within at least an hour in queue most people aren't going to bother.

    Battlegrounds do also exist.

And didn't they call it a "new system"? I would have interpreted that as something entirely new; my first guess when it came up was some new arena type PvP thing somehow recycling parts of the Archive (at least that was my expectation until they introduced the new housing "system" that's not more than a menu with a rating function... from that point on, I didn't expect anything anymore).

They already said it's not cyro and they changed the graphics to go from "new system" to "features". Considering they class ToT as "PvP" my expectations are extremely low.

It's been very clear that ZOS has given up on Cyro many years ago - shoot remember when they deleted deer thinking it would reduce the lag..... SMH

IMO - if all they do is bring in new BG maps or something.. maybe a new playlist/type - you're telling me it took you all 5 years to do that? Crap, other studios pump out new maps quarterly, sometimes monthly. It took 5 years to just get new maps?!

    1 - I'd be embarassed.
2 - Considering their "new system" was just a housing Add on that existed for years... I'd say ZoS has lost their edge. It's clear they have reached the point where creativity is gone and the studio has shifted more into how do we keep making money to sustain what we have.

I miss the days when ZoS was breaking the edge of technology and doing awesome things (think of Cyro when it first launched there was nothing like it. When I saw the combat in PvP my head almost exploded and I couldnt wait to be a part of those epic battles - I haven't had this feeling with ESO in over 7 years. Games like Halo and Gears Of War have had the Infinite Archive style systems for many many many years - all they did is copy it - they are good at that as we have seen them take other artists graphics.

All this to say I wish ZoS would go back more to their roots instead of just these rinse repeat go here do this quest oh pretty new landscape, oh new map after 5 years. Do something drastic - get some courage and flip the script (or just fix the lag in cyro crap I'll take that as a win).

I don't even want to hear it. PvE people literally get 3 if not 4 content drops a year.

PvP (cyro) hasn't had anything of value added in over 7 years and the performance is arguably the worst it has ever been since launch in its current state. Look at how long it took to get curated drops in cyro, or an armor station (we still don't have ticket vendors so once you're in cyro and get tickets if you're full you have to leave and then wait in a 2 hour queue just to get in).

There has been zero content changes to cyro in over 7 years and the performance is falling off a cliff. It's gotten so bad you all are starting to complain about it in PvE, the disconnects during your trials, the rubber banding, etc.

Battlegrounds has gone 5 years without any content.

So don't lecture us on the community wants more PvE when 1 - you get it every quarter and 2 - this game first was marketed as a pvp game.

ESO was advertised before, during and after release as Cyrodiil PvP being the primary end game activity. So it is mystifying to me why so many log on to ESO then complain that there is PvP in the game and go on to sow discontent in game and on the forums because they don't like PvP. PvP is now and always has been a significant part of ESO.

Sry, but after scribing and some other changes made this year, doesnt matter anymore what they are dreaming for "big parts" for the future. This has actually nothing to do with Elder Scrolls or Pvp!

So personally i dont care about Q4. It will be the same unneeded thing than housing-tours!

Yup. The "updates" you speak of are in part because of their lack of adding battle spirit to gear so it can work differently in different situations. So you end up with endless loops of gear reworks because people in PvE complain when X gets nerfed and people in PvP complain when Y gets nerfed to address a PvE issue.

Also there has been no content added to cyro in 7 years (they literally removed deer from cyro to try to fix the lag)..and BGs hasn't even had a new map in like 5 years (other studios pump out 4-5 maps a quarter for their games so the fact that it took 5... nvm I don't want to be banned.)

Though I personally wouldn't mind that. The game seems to have too little of a PvP population left to realistically sustain three different PvP modes at the same time. If the new content is adding a fourth PvP mode, they will be spreading the PvP population even thinner. Not sure if that would be a smart thing.

The only good thing would be to make some sort of PvP mode that is mainly for PvE players somehow. Because if ZOS can get PvE players into PvP, that population will skyrocket. And will probably result in more love from ZOS for the PvP in this game.

Worst thing ZOS could do is yet another PvP mode that allows the current PvP players to keep flexing their unmatched PvP-power in just another mode. As that would, like all other existing PvP modes, keep all PvE players out of it. Basically making it dead on arrival.

My personal opinion is something along those lines too. More modes won't help. But I also think the new feature will probably be 'PvP' in the sense that players are competing though not necessarily fighting. Maybe a game mode where they race through a dungeon or try to slay more monsters in a given amount of time for a better score than another team doing the same thing. Maybe there will be a way to interact with the other team/person. Maybe there won't.

I hate battlegrounds because it can be too unbalanced. Ditching 4v4v4 may help, maybe even the entire current structure. If it was entirely reworked to be 4v4 and 8v8 with a proper MMR system and a ranked + casual playlist, then it could be interesting, but the underlying problems with PvP need to be addressed. They could create the greatest PvP mode that any game has ever seen, but it won't mean anything if battle spirit still continues to not properly separate PvP from PvE, and if heal stacking is still allowed. If those two are also revamped with the coming update, not only would a new BGs be more attractive, but cyrodiil/ic would be too.

Just my guess. It will be some kind of PvP arena, but with a twist to make it seem original. The 'twist' will backfire. For example, a PvP arena but players will port in as pets or dwemer constructs.

I said "new content", not a content rework, as far as I'm concerned those fall under "content reworks" not actual new content. Meanwhile everything else gets actual new content. The last time pvp got something new was 6 years ago in the form of a BG map. What's the PVP equivalent of PVE getting the Lucent Citadel trial? The recent Undeath nerf? Lol that's not even comparable. One of those is a rework and one is new content.

New content would actually be a new way to play, not slightly altering the meta, that's what the balancing patches were for. Don't be disingenuous, pvp doesn't actually get new content.

Battlegrounds could be cool. It's just arena multiplayer it does not necessarily have to be 4v4v4. Could be two teams and then it's infinitely more appealing. Map design and even visual presentation matter too so I'll wait and see what it's like.

Just want to point out that Cyrodiil was heavily inspired by PVP in Dark Age of Camelot… (and, in fact, a number of DAoC PVP devs were involved in the development of Cyrodiil / ESO). It’s not like Cyrodiil was some completely unique, cutting edge idea. A bit of reading for you: https://www.gameskinny.com/culture/elder-scrolls-online-and-the-legacy-of-daoc/

I’m also not terribly optimistic for the update, but I’m still mildly interested to see what they come up with. If you don’t get your hopes up too high, it’s less of a disappointment if it ultimately sucks, and you also end up being pleasantly surprised if it doesn’t suck.

The fact that they touted adding housing to the activity finder as a 'new, highly anticipated system' doesn't bode well for the upcoming 'new pvp system.'

That crap is everywhere in other games. I know they are not going to freshen up Cyrodiil nor make IC more attractive, so I can only hope for long overdue balancing that also is likely not coming
