Why are people buying jewelry just to gold them out for outrageous prices?

I'm looking for Rallying Cry jewelry. I see them listed all over the place! But, as has happened to me so, so many times before, the things I'm trying to get are being snatched up seemingly even before they hit TTC. Every purple version is being bought within minutes, golded out, and relisted at 10x the cost. The purples sell for 30K. I haven't seen a gold one for less than 250K. Most are 330-500K. Considering that it would take about 80K to upgrade one to gold myself, where do people get off trying to do this? I mean, I'd just recreate them from transmute stones at this price. It's all so stupid and hostile to the average player community.

People are taking advantage of the trend and the times to make money. Also, you stated yourself you have another avenue to do it yourself, so how is this an issue? Everyone can use that avenue since it's BoE.

How do you know it's being upgraded and flipped and not the gold jewels from leaderboards?

Also, TTC can also show the last listing time from the actual buyer not the seller or someone else who scanned, so the listing time on their site doesn't always mean an item just got listed. It could mean it just got sold.

The last time it was available at the golden vendor was early March. IMO there are simply too many in the guild stores for this to account for, or especially as a random drop from the leaderboards.

Upgrading isn't flipping. Upgrading requires an investment in skill point and mats.

The decision for any crafter to upgrade to Gold level isn't one to take lightly, especially if you plan to then sell the upgraded item. Now with 14 day listings, the risk of it not selling is even greater.

The average player won't be looking for Rallying Cry.

Why don't you try farming it yourself?
Or wait 2 months to see if the prices come down after 4 relistings?

That reminds me I have 4 gold rings and 2 gold necklaces brought last Mayhem....... totally forgot I had those!

I suspect high numbers for sale are people who did also forget but unlike me decided to try sell them fast before this Mayhem's Golden has them again! 🤣

@dk_dunkirk during Mayhem the Golden usually has all PVP necklaces one week and all rings the other, obviously all gold too.

Maybe you have ap you can use?

A chromium plating does cost 6.500 gold on average (EU).
This means, golden out a jewelry will cost 52k gold only.

So buying golden jewelry for 500k AP on golden vendor (or jewelry for 225k/375k off-event) is the biggest waste you can do.

If players try to sell golden jewelry extremely high, then just due to the fact, that players think, that platings are still extremely expensive like 2 years ago, which are not.

The jewelry at the Golden during the event is PvP gear, hard to obtain.

Even the non-event offerings are desirable in that getting jewelry from dungeons is a long sticker book grind. I have bought a few of them for the sticker book even though I have plenty of chromium plates to upgrade my own, because I don’t have that jewelry.

ZOS needs to adjust the golden vendor

Ever since the update to Jewelry these items have lost their value, the fact we are losing out on the weekly monster piece during this event in favor of this needs to be fixed, 500k AP is also way too much for them now, they should be priced at 100k maximum.

So we should switch to a "no idea what is going on" situation like on console?

TTC has its shortcomings, but letting things get bought and sold are not the problems!

The 500k AP is the old price from before they changed jewelry grains/platings, only applies to MYM jewelry, others have gone down in price. Notified zos of the error during previous MYM, again before this one started. Kevin confirmed they wouldn't be adjusted this time as well, but that they're on a list somewhere, so maybe they get cheaper early 2025.

Don't expect the jewels to go down to 100k AP though, not sure what the regular price is these days but it isn't that low.

And let's have a minute of prayer of gratitude that we don't have a centralized auction house.

With our decentralized shops there is at least a small chance that you can snatch up such an item before the ingame whales arrive.

I haven't ever used TTC. If I can't find what I'm looking for in any of the guilds that I'm in, I travel from location to location take my chances with what is there at the time. This has the unintended consequence of my expectations not being dashed when I get there. I haven't ever played on console, but I assume that this works the same way.

I've had items sell within 30 seconds of being listed, whilst I am still listing other items. It happens.

Remember that upgrading jewelry is not a base-game feature and requires Summerset.

Maybe they're selling these to players who don't have the ability to upgrade.

No. You seem to have missed my point entirely. In fact, my point DEPENDED on the notion that 80K is nothing.
