Many of the posters are concerned that if you changed it, people would just farm the first boss.

I'm concerned about the mind numbing , time and life wasting tedium of having to kill the first two bosses and all the trash for "nothing"-- just to get to the last boss and get a "small" (1/45 and improving over time) chance of getting what you need.

If they would make jewelry drop off the earlier boss, and make chests curated,
that would be an improvement that I would love

That is on you for turning it into a grind instead of a game to enjoy.

If you enjoy running through the same dungeon 50 times and never getting anything new from 90% of the dungeon, more power to you!
In my time in ESO I've run all the dungeons, main tanked veteran trials (which I ended up hating), DPSed trials, and spent something close to 10,000 hours in PvP. I like PvP the most since every battle is a little different. But some people prefer repeating things that are exactly the same, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't enjoy running through the same dungeon fifty times so I don't, at least not in a short period of time. I am lucky that I like almost everything in the game. Don't care for the card game so very rarely play it. When something starts to feel stale I can move on to something else. I've done Arx Corinium way over 100 times helping guild mates chase down that inferno staff with just the right trait on it. Really didn't get grindy for me because I didn't do many in a row before I would opt out and spend several days doing other things.
Play styles aside I think it is better for the game that certain items are reserved for the final boss drop. Hasn't happened often but I've been in groups where a player was looking for armor and dropped midway because they got what they needed. No need to make that more prone to happening by letting weapons drop early.
And as I indicated in an earlier comment I wouldn't mind seeing a chance at more weapons dropping from the final boss each time but I do think they should only drop from that final boss.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

We know that groups would farm the first boss and disband if weapons and jewelry dropped from it. The game's history proves that, as this was the case with vHRC awhile back.

    1. When farming gear, it is best to run with known people, as they are going to be more willing to trade/give group members gear they get in drops.
    2. Open the chests. Each chest has a chance to drop jewelry and weapons. It seems that this second part is followed.

The grind is a pittance of what it used to be.

Maybe work with a build that drops in the world or is crafted. This would be much simpler and great for those who do not want to grind dungeons or trials.

The way it is now still encourages groups to be made.

and penalizes solo players trying to farm for gear.

some of us don't run with groups and most of the people on our friends lists are long gone. <shrug>

But it is content intended and designed for groups.

It's not a penalty. Penalty implies that one is supposed to have people giving them gear and it's been taken away by the current system. Friends/Guilds that are giving away gear are giving out a nice bonus when they give out gear.

    reinforcing my point. ^

players who don't run with groups (or trusted friends) don't have access to those benefits, they're obliged to grind alone again and again to that final boss and hope they get something remotely useful in the last drop.

in my experience, it's usually NOT the desired item and thus the content must be run again and again.

Sorry to say this, but this is a MMO (massively *MULTIPLAYER* online game). This means that the game is desgined not only to be played solo, but as well and foremost with other players. So, it should be quite obviously that you - as a player - will only be able to acquire certain things/items/achievements when you will be playing with others and NOT while you are playing solo! Dungeons, Trials, Arena (those for multiple players!) and so are parts of the game, which are played in groups and not alone. If there are now some people that are able to do some of them solo, well, that is owed to their skills and creativity. BUT!!! It is NOT how it should be!!! The common and normal way is GROUP-play for those things!!!

    So, bottom line.

If people are only able to loot weapons for the dungeon and trial sets from the last boss with a guaaranteed drop and do need a group to get there, then that is NOT a penalty for solo players trying to farm those items. It is instead a clear borderline drawn, which shows the boundary between activities players can do solo to acquire items and activities they will need a group for.

Not everything should and must be acquirable for everyone!

If you want to get everything just by playing alone, you should think about two things. 1) Should I really be playing a MMO, wouldn't a Singleplayer Game be better? 2) If I don't like to play in groups, should I really go after stuff, which is only available through groupplay?

    P.s.:

    Regarding the grind matter.

As some others already stated. If you kill trashmobs and loot chests you do have chances of getting weapon drops from them. I for example did get a lot of weapons from the chests inside the new Trial. Been running it 10 times so far and I do have 1/3 of all weapons you can get through normal mode. With that you can reduce the number of times you will have to run a dungeon or trial quite a bit!

By the way. If I am not mistaken. The chests you do get from the daily/weekly dungeon and trials quests will be curated with the next update.

Also, you can always trade with your groupmembers at the end of the dungeon. You just need to tell everyone at the beginning and shortly before the end what you are looking for and you do need to hope that the others don't need the weapons too  .

Glad someone said it. This isn't a solo game, there's nothing solo players are being "penalized" for, especially since dungeons/trials/etc are group content. you're intended to finish this content and maybe hit a few chests if you're grinding gear.

Honestly, they just need to make chests curated as well

If you only did the fist boss, you'd be right back to where we are now. You'd have to do ~ 65 runs to get all the gear (more than now because now, you quickly get all the armor (ie body pieces which currently drop off the first 2 bosses)whereas you would only get 1 piece a day)

I would not have to do 65 "runs", because killing the first boss of the dungeon is not equivalent to a full dungeon run in terms of time, effort, or skill level required. As others have mentioned already, in many dungeons it takes mere minutes to kill the first 1-2 bosses and they are rather trivial compared to completing the entire dungeon.

Many farming for gear take the easiest path of least resistance and might join groups and leave after the first easy bosses; we already get a zillion complaints about speedrunners, can you imagine if people had an incentive to just abandon the dungeon? Others might stop grouping at all. Imo it would definitely become much more difficult for people wanting to complete the dungeon to find a group willing to do so.

I also don't understand the part about 1 piece a day... There is no such limitation.

Anyway, they can do various things to reduce the grind (curated chests, multiple drops from the final boss, other more creative ideas perhaps) and I'm not saying they shouldn't, but my point is that the incentive to actually finish the dungeon should not be removed, as this would have potentially severe negative effects on grouping and engagement with the content.

It is a choice to run alone in an MMORPG. There are a large number of guilds that are very accepting of various playstyles and personalities as long as the people are not rude and obnoxious.

Group finder and activity finder exists for those who don't want to find a group. I agree that nobody should need to be in a guild or make friends to do the content, because there should be ways to form pickup groups if that is preferred by the player. Luckily, ZOS does provide us those tools. If you ask nicely, people may even share their gear with you.
