I just completed an in-progress Halls of Fabrication run. My group was telling me that the last boss will trigger the quest and I'll get the weekly reward. However no one explained to me that the boss drops an item buried in your inventory that you have to dig up and activate. I was telling them I didn't get a quest so they kicked me. I activated the item and the turn in point is at the end of the trial. How is that useful? Now I just have to abandon the quest.

Was that on Veteran? All I did on normal today was pick up the quest at the entrance then turn it in to the NPC that was standing there at the after the final boss. I didn't have to use any item.

It already is at the beginning? You can just walk into the trial by yourself and turn the quest in. I’ve done this with AA but I’m pretty sure it works with CR too, so it should just work for all of them.

Yeah. You are wrong. As I said in my post the turn-in for Halls of Fabrication is at the end of the trial. Making a conjecture based off of two other trials that you actually played isn't useful.

I'm not sure I would say "many"; it's less than one-third of the trials.
Key:
- ✔ – The quest can be completed in the lobby of by an uncompleted instance. This allows a player to complete the quest later if they forgot to turn it in initially.
- ✘ – The quest can only be completed at final boss of a completed instance. Players who forgot to turn it in initially can complete the quest only be entering another completed instance.
Trials:
- Hel Ra Citadel: ✔
- Aetherian Archive: ✔
- Sanctum Ophidia: ✔
- Maw of Lorkhaj: ✘
- Halls of Fabrication: ✘
- Asylum Sanctorium: ✘
- Cloudrest: ✔
- Sunspire: ✔
- Kyne's Aegis: ✔
- Rockgrove: ✔
- Dreadsail Reef: ✘ (DSR is special in that if you leave the final boss area with the quest, the quest enters a bad state and can never be completed. This issue was reported when DSR was first released in 2022, and it's never been fixed.)
- Sanity's Edge: ✔
- Lucent Citadel: ✔
In any case, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for any of this to be changed, esp. since there's been no movement on the DSR quest for over two years (since that's an egregious case of the quest being outright buggy).
