Learning New Furnishing Plans

When you want to advance in the Fighter's guild, you fight monsters. When you want to advance with the Mage's guild, you read books (makes sense but it's a really bad system). To advance in the Psijic Order, you study Psijic events. All this makes sense. In order to learn new crafting recipes, you loot dressers for hours on end. Why isn't learning new recipes part of the crafting system? There is a system in place (daily crafting writs and master writs) that would make complete sense to incorporate finding new recipes without doing mind-numbing repetitive farming practices.

It already is.

Every food and drink recipe that you learn advances your Provisioning skill line. Not by a lot. But by a little. This is fine, because making a larger part of the leveling process would make it more annoying, since there are so many recipes to collect in this game.

Furnishing plans do not advance skill lines, and that's fine too, since furnishing plans cover a wide range of skill trees. But more importantly, furnishing plans were added later in the game, long after the the crafting systems have already been established.

Because you can learn recipes all you want if you can find them. But those recipes also have specific crafting level requirements. When you consume a recipe, you're not "advancing" anything.
