So I decided to go back to the kitchen before logging out late last night, did 6 rounds and got a purple colovian furn plan.

I haven’t got anything of value from there. The barracks in Rustwall have more containers, I think I got a lead for a purple Ayleid plan there. Is it inaccessible after the quest?

Both the kitchen and the barracks are available after the quests, but as far as I can tell the barracks don't seem to reset when using the door so it takes longer even if it has more containers.
I've gotten a couple of new purple & blue from the kitchen so it's working... interestingly enough I don't think I've gotten a single new green one from anywhere so far.

It's really quite simple: I love housing. It is pretty much *the* reason why I play(ed) ESO.

But with each chapter (aside from the chapters getting thinner and thinner in content) it has become more and more of a chore to both get the furnishing plans and the materials needed to then craft them.

Since this seems to be quite deliberate that it becomes harder and harder to do housing, my decision to leave must stand. I'd hoped that Gold Road would be able to change my mind, but I don't feel like being a cash cow for lazy programming.

I'll keep an eye on the forum and maybe, if things get better, I'll reconsider. Right now, not even the prospect of owning new homes is enough to keep me as a paying customer.

Keep having fun at the customer's expense, ZOS, if that is what you feel is the right thing to do. But don't expect the customer to reward you for this.

This hits how I feel too! The grind in this game is too damn high.

It is still accessible after the quest. It's a little more work than the Inn, but if you run across the street (5 seconds) and enter the catacombs it will reset the barracks. There's one backpack in the catacombs first room so it's not a total waste :)

Yeah, the containers for Outcast Inn do mostly reset, but it’s just garbage lockpicks, white gear, and style mats like Corundum.

    EDIT: clarification

Please don't argue with me. I've been farming plans a long time, and yes, there are cooldowns. If you have something constructive to add, go ahead, but cooldowns exist.

I've personally gotten two purples in a row (from two different cabinets next to each other in Leyawiin, not a double drop). There is no cooldown.

    EDIT: clarification

I farm Outcast inn as was suggested in another thread.
Loot containers until you get a green and a blue FURNISHING plans. Once you have them, switch to another toon. Ignore blue and green provisioning recipes. Yes, these blue and green will not necessarily be new plans.
Yes, you will get a lot of trash in the process. Personally, I have autoloot on and sell all of the trash to a merchant when inventory gets clogged.
If you are seeing that you are getting a bunch of white furnishing plans, it's unlikely that you will get another blue on that toon. Hence the suggestion to switch to another toon.
Once I'm done with all the toons that are involved in farming I go and do something else. I do not know how long a cooldown on blue plans is, but if I return immediately I know that I will be getting all those white trash plans. So, no point in doing that.

It was my impression that later on (exact time is unknown) in a chapter, they “turn them on” as possible loot drops from chapter dailies.

So I guess when they determine that people stop killing wb’s they will turn it on as daily quest rewards?

Isn’t that what they did with high isle, Etc?

The plans that drop from dailies are different. They only drop from dailies. They are usually the structural elements like walls, doors, platforms, stairs, etc.

Yes, I know how to farm. Sometimes I don’t get either green or blue plans.

Yes, I know how to farm. Sometimes I don’t get either green or blue plans.

Then I do not know. The only times when I was not getting green/blue (only a bunch of whites) when I was trying to farm on the same toon too soon. It does look like there is a cooldown of sorts.
Also, the time to get that first blue on a toon varies wildly for me. Sometimes, it's just one run around the room and I get a blue one. Sometimes I run lap after lap after lap. But eventually it does show up.

If you have a toon that's not getting anything after 5-10 runs, switch to your next toon in the rotation. Each day, each of your characters gets assigned a seed on the loot table. Sometimes it's average, and you'll see the occasional green/blue, and eventually you'll hit purple but could take a while. Sometimes it's above average and you keep getting blues quite often, and eventually purple. Sometimes it's below average and while you keep getting greens, you don't get anything else. And then sometimes it's garbage, and no matter how long you keep going you just can't seem to catch a break with that toon.

I find that with my 10 toons, each day 2 or 3 are above average, 3 or 4 average, 2 or 3 below average, and always seems to be one that's just garbage. Each day after reset, it all changes and it takes trial and error to see which toons have a better seed than the others. And then start all over again.

So basically I switch toons whenever one gets a blue or purple (purple they get taken out of the rotation entirely for the day), or a toon does 5-10 runs (depending on how long each run is) and gets nothing because it's just wasting your time. I cylce through each toon in order, and when one pops a purple, I move that toon to the bottom of the character list so I can remember which toons are done for the day.
